How do you clear the awesomebar completely?

I don't get it. I've deleted all my history, private data, bookmarks, backed up bookmarks...everything yet it still lists loads of websites. Is it impossible?

Use the DEL button in the "AwesomeBar".

i have never seen a website that doesnt have a password recovery option.

With Firefox 3 it seems they've begun using bilinear filtering for images not viewed at native size. Generally this is a good thing, as it means viewing people's 76x50 or 110x130 avatars resized to a width of 90 look a bit less ugly. However, there are times when this is not optimal, like looking at blown-up 256x224 SNES screen shots. Is there an option for this? I don't notice one in plain sight, so I'm guessing it's hiding in about:config.

FF3 crashes alot.
I have to admit I'm finding this too (I love Firefox for the record). My OS setup is completely normal, it happens at home and at work too. Sometimes you'lll close the browser and a few minutes later wonder why your cpu is being burned, with a ctrl alt del revealing firefox.exe still churning away. Tis the price you pay for progress, I'm sure they'll sort it out.

Uh, anyone else having problems downloading stuff? Ever since I upgraded to Firefox 3, if I try and download even just TWO things at once (for example, been downloading pre-E3 trailers), one of them fails and it's a bitch to try and restart because the file won't delete because it says it's "in use" until I restart.

Yeah, sometimes that happens and mouse gestures don't work in those cases either. In some respects, FF3 feels like a beta that way, but oh well...

In some ways it is, Firefox 3.1 should iron out the remainder of the issues, however Firefox 3 as it is, is a acceptable release.

If you can replicate the issue, or figure out something that seems to make it happen more frequently, I'd report it as a bug.

This has been happening to me since FF 2.0.

But FF 3.0 hasn't crashed on me yet, and it's been amazing at memory management. I used to have ridiculous memory leak problems with Firefox, but haven't had one since installing 3.0.

I upgraded today and I pretty much hate all the new features. So heres a quick guide on how to get things the way they were in Firefox 2:

Fix the back button history to be AT THE BACK BUTTON:

Navigate to C:\Documents and Settings\NAME HERE\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\NAME HERE\chrome

Create or modify the existing file called userChrome.css and add:
Code:
#back-forward-dropmarker {-moz-box-ordinal-group:2 !important;}
#back-button {-moz-box-ordinal-group:1 !important;}
#forward-button {-moz-box-ordinal-group:3 !important;}

For the old toolbar:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/6227

For the old theme:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/6898

Has anyone figured out how to change the color of the "selection dots" on a hyperlink? Its now bright red, and horrible.

No one else with this issue? :[

Can anyone help me remove DinoGAF? I've long lost track of the original thread, but I do remember that it involved editing a UserContent.css file in profile/chrome. Problem is, in FF3, that file is gone; only two 'example' files are in that folder. Yet, DinoGAF remains and I've finally tired of it. Help?

If anyone knew what DinoGAF was, maybe. Was it that time when the logo was changed to dinosaurs? If so, why would anyone edit that into UserContent.css? Just seems like a ridiculous thing to do.

Are you sure you didn't install it using Stylish from here: http://userstyles.org/styles/6090 ?

If so, you can just right click on the Stylish icon in the status bar when you're on GAF and uncheck the style you have for the site.

Are there multiple profile/chrome folders on your computer? For example, you might have that folder in the Application Data for both "All Users" and your username.

Ah thanks, I was looking for it in the actual Program Files Mozilla folder, not in Application Data. Problem solved.

EDIT:

Not editting your UserContent directly it's not.

Atrocious. Absolutely atrocious. Seems to crash more often and I can't drag images into PS any more. Renders come up with a black background when I do. Fantastic.

That's weird... I can drag images to PS, or any other program, for that matter. And I haven't had Firefox 3 crash on me yet. I guess you can just have bad luck with the crashes, but the dragging thing *is* weird.

I think it is the browser. IE doesn't let me drag at all...

Nah. Working amazing for me! :D

Need to quote myself to take back what I said....it is getting ridiculous. Crashing, bug report comes up, click restart firefox, CRASH. Do that 3 times then it starts up again. Constantly crashing, hard to download files. I'm going back to 2.

okay. just found a very strange bug. im running 3.0.1 on OSX 10.5.4

the only addon i have is DownloadThemAll! 1.0.3

new bookmarks dont save between sessions..
i have all the bookmarks there that were imported from the previous version..
if i add a new bookmark, it shows up correctly.. but once i restart firefox, its gone. the only way to make the bookmark 'stick' is to go into 'Organize Bookmarks' and back them up to a file.

:/

the program must have been corrupted somehow. i just deleted it, and all lingering files. reinstalled.. and everything has been working perfectly since.

hey guys I'm having a lot of trouble with the awesome bar on OSX, but absolutely none on Windows.

On my mac, the awesome bar barely updates (so i couldn't type firefox and see this thread), and my history also isn't being saved besides having all 3 things in the preferences->privacy history section checked.

also, in my show all history protion, nothing is coming up.

no troubles at all on windows though :\.....anyone have any ideas?

Typing in firefox got me a bunch of porn sites, but the 2nd entry was this thread.

Running OSX Leopard.

Do you have the same add-ons between your Mac and PC?

no add-ons at all actually

Started having my first problem with the program. I don't know if it's directly related to the build or has to do with an add-on, or what, but my pages keep refreshing, almost to no end. Sometimes a new tab will refresh once as soon as I highlight it, other times it will refresh endlessly so that I can't even view the page. Anyone else having this problem? Anyway around it?

EDIT - found the problem, the Skype add-on is glitched. Removing it solves the issue.

I, too, am having a serious problem with Firefox 3.

My bookmarks all disappeared, and when I try to restore, I get an error message: Unable to process the backup file.

Now I'm unable to add any bookmarks. A re-install did not fix it. Any advice?

New issue.

Sometimes, after I have added new bookmarks, or rearranged them, this will not be maintained after quitting Firefox. At the next boot, the bookmarks will have reverted to their previous state.

Dunno why this happens, luckily I could restore the new bookmarks over the old with Foxmarks, otherwise, this may drive me to quit using Firefox for now.

I'm surprised and angry that the latest revision of Firefox doesn't support FoxyTunes... come on FoxyTunes get with it...
