Have a mouse-wheel or middle button? Click it anywhere in the tab bar to open a new tab, also works for closing tabs.
Bleh, guess I'll have to teach myself to do this.

How i set up mine.

used App button clear to make the orange firefox button transparent.
used Omnibar to merge url & search bar.
pinned gmail as app tab.
used roomy bookmarks to hide bookmark names.
and moved the bookmarks bar to the navigation toolbar.

i like it =)

How did you make the url bar so short?

Fresh install.

Point it towards news.bbc.co.uk, my go-to test website.

Becomes unresponsive for five seconds then loads the page.

Awesome.

Back to Chrome.

I have had no problems like that.

FF4 is soooo fast. It doesn't hang anymore when I close it with a process still working in the background. It just closes, like it's supposed to.

Guarantee I'm going to screw up this post? Yeah.
damnit, FF4 won't save new bars I add to it. I want my search bar above my URL bar.

Great, seems others are having this issue. Back to the old version!

You can thank Microsoft for that.

Because Firefox is hardware accelerated it's using their new DirectWrite API for the text.

It's the same for IE9 and Chrome (if you turn on hardware acceleration)

Actually Chrome dosent and IE9 manages to render fonts slightly better

Yeah I don't have this issue on Chrome. and IE9 seems to be slightly better than FF4. That being said this is a new deal for all browsers, and I'm sure they'll find a more elegant solution in the longer term. This will be short term growing pains.

Can I make FF4 look exactly like FF3 on a Mac?

I love the current look and feel, but want to benefit from the speed improvements?

Going from a new version back to an old version is pretty much a surefire way to corrupt your profile and cause you even more problems in the future until you create a new profile.

Does anyone else still get shit image scaling in Firefox? I was hoping they fixed it in 4.

Left is how the avatars look in Chrome, right is Firefox.

Is there a way to change the location of the max/min/close buttons? I found movable firefox button which did exactly what I wanted but now I have a big blank space above the tabs

Crash Protection
Firefox provides uninterrupted browsing for Windows, Linux, and now Mac when there is a crash in the Adobe Flash, Apple Quicktime or Microsoft Silverlight plugins. If one of these commonly-used plugins crashes or freezes, it won’t affect the rest of Firefox. Instead, you can simply reload the page to restart the plugin and try again. Learn more about plugins.

Holy shit this better works. I was seriously about to abandon firefox forever after yes ANOTHER "firefox has failed due to plugin container" crap. I think Windows 95 was more stable than firefox 3.6

I don't think Chrome uses DirectWrite and IE9 only uses it selectively on some websites. The latter does have a different height and width from Fx4 for rendering fonts and lines, although the blurriness is pretty much the same when using DW.

They need to go all the way with it though, and just sandbox EVERYTHING. Instead they just seem to be sandboxing big time plugins. Sandboxing the whole deal would be much better for security purposes.

Decided to go with the x86 version for the final after using x64 all throughout the betas because of lack of x64 silverlight. There's an x64 flash, and micrsoft is putting out an x64 IE, why don't they have an x64 silverlight?

There does seem to be a noticeable pause before it loads things compared to the x64 version but it is negligible.

How do I bring the "Firefox" button in line with the tabs?
Maximize the browser. The only time it isn't is when it's in a floating window.

While that is something that could use fixing I have to say bullshit. just take the 5 seconds to hit a button and re-size your avatar to 90px wide and have it look better than either browser's resizing methods.

Trying it out on Mac - the only thing bugging me is it's now showing all of the symbols next to the bookmarks in my bookmarks toolbar and the links no longer all fit along the window - is there anyway to get it to display like before?

Ugh someone please tell me there's a way to get rid of this stupid orange "F" symbol by the first tab. I don't even know what the purpose of it is.

I'm on Mac BTW

EDIT: Nvm, got rid of it

even x64 IE9 has worse performance than x86.. not optimised at all

x64 dosent bring much to a browser

Not sure if diggin' it. Gonna have to look for a good theme.[/QUOTE]

Doesn't look too good on OS X. Chrome 10 is by far the best browser for me.

CTRL + SHIFT + T

How is that buried I wonder
Shortcut is useful. Hopefully there is some way to pin it as a button through an extension or something, I like being able to browse the history of recently closed tabs.
