First Castlevania DS scans

After seeing the scans I'm tempted to go with a DS over a PSP. I knew Castlevania was coming to DS for a long time. I just didn't realise what exactly that meant until I saw the scans.

Problem is, besides Advance Wars I'm not interested in anything else on the DS. I'm looking forward to a few PSP games (mostly racers) but fuck... none of them are as appealing to me as a new Castlevania. I have a lot to ponder...

OMG!!!!! Im ecstatic!!!! This looks so orgasmic!

Anyone who says this looks like an Aria of sorrow rehash is nuts. This looks so much more detailed its not even funny.

Im soooooooooo happy right now.

:) where have you been the last 4-5 days this thread has been up? I can't wait for DS CV. It can't be released US/ENG version soon enough.

That said. Buy Minish Cap, bitches!

Those scans aren't the best in the world, but seems to me that this game will look and sounds much more like SotN than AoS. Dees ees a goot ting!!

right. I am looking forward to seeing the actual mag. Anda again the game is like 8 months out. There is SO MUCH polish and work they can do to it in all that time. Hopefully they use the time to create a 2nd castle, unlike AoS had.

I liked the fact that there was no second castle in AoS. As much as I like the GBA Castlevanias, I'm sick of how formulaic the Castlevanias have become. Symphony of the Night was amazing, Circle of the Moon was very good and offered incredible replay and great challenge, Harmony of Dissonance was fun, but too easy, with mostly boring enemies and too much repetition from SotN. Aria of Sorrow was on par with SotN, and it had the awesome soul system, but I don't want another game that is just another trip through the same castle entrance, outer wall, library, clock tower, underground waterway, catacombs, and chapel.

I want something that either adds new life to the castle, or lets you go to other areas, much like Castlevania 2. I no longer care as much about gameplay systems, I just want to go someplace new. I love the series, but it is in danger of losing my interest from lack of anything truly new.

Fuck yes this looks great! (haven't been able to get to a PC for about a week)

Sold. Looks fucking great.

The game looks awesome, another bump for something I completely missed while I was on vacation. The first couple of pages with the random pathetic trolling however wasn't needed.

Damn, I can't stop thinking about/imagining what will be in this game. like how close it will be to SotN in graphics and feel, and how much it will be like Aria, what bosses will return, what bosses will be new, what kind of FINAL boss there will be, who will be the secret playable character, which music will return and which will be new.

oh yeah, about the music, how capable is the DS in that dept? PS1 quality, SNES quality?

thansk! wow. you can really see the pixel difference know, compared to AoS screens from emulators (too lazy to post comparison though)

looking nice, but I REALLY wish they would swap the screens around and forget about the silly "magical seal" nonsense. So many possibilities for the touchscreen and that's all they came up with?

Hmmm at least n64/ps1 I think. Puyo DS featured full audio tracks and the music itself basically matched the console counterparts (unlike it's gba rendition) not the best comparison, but this is the first DS game for me to push the audio envelope past the GBA.

edit: also to note that Mario 64 DS managed every single track from it's n64 cousin as well.

I was thinking the same but they should leave the magic seal stuff (I like that. it adds to the game) and have a icon that lets you swap screens to interact with the map.

DAMN this new AoS looks good... If the animation rivals that of SotN, then we're up for some of the best 2d evar!

To pass the time away I snagged a copy of Shaman King GBA .... Konami gutted Castlevania, exploration with a graphical map, and nice animations..... it's no AoS, but the card system and new abilities get my brain crankin for the DS possibilities...

DS can have outstanding audio every bit as good as anything on saturn or playstation, which in turn is not too different sounding than todays systems. You could easily fit SOTN"S entire soundtrack plus some on a DS card without any loss in quality.

I wish the map was interactive... and not the silly boss thing...

so many things you could do with an interactive map ....

- ranomized halways purchased/earned to link castle areas together for a more personal map...
- linking teleport locations ... and scripted events that can happen between...
- waypoint markings, interactive legend, etc.
- Working the soul system into the map, revealing/gaining access to locations......

hell it would be cool to get Soma so powerfull that you can 'soul slice/tumble ' dracula's tower (stylus style) eventually making an access bridge to confront him....

So why does it look exactly like the GBA version? I have a hard time believing this thing cant even produce playstation quality visuals.

Anywho, I seriously can't wait for some kind of first glimpse into the music of this game, I would have done anything to hear the GBA games arranged, and now we most likely won't be needing that. I love it.

you know they did 2 of Aria's songs arranged? the Chapel and the main theme. I think they are at the CV Dungeon. The Chapel is particularly good...
love that Yamane-sama.

Holy shit that looks amazing! SotN no longer is a clear winner in CV graphics IMO

aye, it does. but the thing that always bums me out is when I realize I won't be able to play it on the TV (bigger screens), unless.. hmm... is there ANYWAY they will be able to do a DS to TV connector??

Hah yeah, I have them, it's too bad it was just a sampling though, I would have loved to hear Underground Reservoir. Still the fact that this game is a sequel makes me pretty hopeful, visits to some of the old castle rooms is a given, so we may get arranged or totally remixed tracks for those old areas, and if they sound anything like those arrangements, I'll be pretty giddy. :P

There's actually 3 rearranged songs, which I'm sure can be found on Konami's site somewhere and it's also on the Lament of Innocence sampler CD. The rearranged tracks rox too

Also aiding them in their battle against dark forces is the ability to collect the souls of their enemies to gain powerful new attacks and skills. The new Castlevania for Nintendo DS takes advantage of the Nintendo DS' Wireless Connection, letting players exchange and/or trade acquired souls to enhance their characters' strength.

Hmm Castlevania Pokemon? :) Sounds good though. And it sure is gonna push sales, anything that can be traded is big among youngsters.

right.
what I wonder about is the whole 'customized maps trading' rumor. Is that even possible? Won't that be a HUGE undertaking for development to give players the opportunity to build their own maps, areas, castle, whatEVER, this is supposed to be?
