Ah the negative people who say this is going to bomb need a clip round the ear and a kick up the arse.

Inject this movie directly into my scrotum!

I think accessibility is the key to whether this film lives or dies. Introduce the audience to the cosmic side of this universe gradually.

Ideally, they need to make the banter between the characters a huge focus as well.
They got snappy banter.

Nah. It is a bit tongue in cheek and they arent afraid of humor but they have a serious bend.

Like I said, its buddy cop action film in space.

I cannot picture a film trying to take itself seriously while featuring an anthropomorphic raccoon.

Gives me Howard the Duck vibes.

It's got a raccoon with a machine gun. The marketing potential is there.
This should be the Superbowl Spot, with the classic trailer voiceover:
black screen, showing faint glowing eyes
"THIS SUMMER"
the eyes move in closer, slowly revealing a silhouette
"THE RODENT"
we see the outline of a raccoon
"ISN'T THE PROBLEM"
raccoon is shown in full, armed to the teeth with rocket launchers, machineguns, regular guns and whathaveyou
"HE'S THE SOLUTION"
<Start up Eagles of Death Metal - The Boy's No Good>
Rocket Raccoon: "Alright, gimme a target!"

Show every member of GotG in quick shots, end with a slow cut of Nova , determined and ready to kick ass. Fade to black, fade in logo. End with traditional quip from RR, close trailer with song's closing line "boy's no good".

Sell tickets like hot cakes.

Did you miss me saying tongue in cheek? You can bet Rocket will be comedic relief and action fodder.

Dont watch it if it doesnt seem like your cup of tea man.

Rocket Raccon looks pretty damn cool. Its Marvel season. But I don't think any comic movie is topping my hype for the next X-Men.

Um...after reading your description I imagined a DreamWorks logo at the end.

Playing devils advocate for a second: This could also harm the movie. I can see a bunch of clueless dude bros and parents saying "Marvel? Where is Iron Man, Captain America and Thor??"

Or they may remember that they liked all those movies despite knowing next to nothing about the characters before their solo films were released. The Marvel Cinematic Universe has had 5 hits in a row (and Incredible Hulk was the only box office misstep out of the 7 films they have released so far). By the time Guardians launches, we will have no undoubtedly had 7 straight Marvel hits, and post credits tie in or two to the plot of this movie. I think it will be fine.

Wasn't Fox having all kinds of problems with the FF reboot? IIRC they need a fresh movie in really short order or the rights will revert to Marvel. They already lost Daredevil and Punisher.

I've heard rumors of production not going so smoothly so far, and yeah, if it doesn't get off the ground by next year the rights will go back to Marvel.

I love Marvel cosmic and I want this to be good but I feel like it's going to bomb hard. I do with they were doing a cosmic movie bases on the Starlin era stuff.

Well, since its already made, I bet it will be very very soon.

The movie or the trailer? Because the movie only just started filming like a month ago.

How long do you guys think until Disney officially releases that trailer? Need to see it in HD glory.

These are usually only for comic con and will never be released outside of it.

The first official trailer we get for it will be something else.

Technically he's not a raccoon. And don't call him one either.

Well, of course. But still. He's supposed to resemble one and the range from "pile of brown seaweed" to "teddybear" just makes me shake my head. Not only in the comic pages posted either, he had a lot of people worried from the film's concept art too.

At least he looks proper in the actual movie.
