First Look at Halo: Nightfall

I've had this debate on a few other forums, I know it can seem weird for non die hard fans ahah! I think the main clincher is how humanity are at war with the Covenant again. Obviously everybody who has played Halo 3 would know this makes entirely no sense, as the series ends with a symbolic handshake between Terrance Hood and the Arbiter. There's been some weird theory floating about that you're only fighting a Covenant splinter group, however me and a few guys looked into this, there's literally no reference to this in game!

We have to assume Halo 2 and 3 never happened!

Halo 4 makes zero reference to the events in 2/3, also none of the major character from that period make an appearance in Halo 4. It also explains how Palmer acted so normally upon meeting the Chief, he hadn't saved the Earth or allowed peace to be made with the Covenant, and so he's not considered to be that important.

It is generally assumed by the core Halo fanbase, that Halo 4 is a direct sequel to Halo 1.

You don't need smoke anymore of that shit you've been smoking as of late brehthem. Shit has your mind blown.

Well, if that's the case. Could someone convince me that the events of 2/3 exist within the Halo 4 universe? There aren't even enemy types like Brutes or Drones in Halo 4...

... Are you serious? You can't be serious. Part of me hopes you're serious, so I can have the greatest laugh attack this month. I need it.

I'm not seeing any counter arguments?

The biggest issue with that theory is how do you explain Spartan IVs? They're not in 2/3, they have a place in 4's story campaign, etc etc.

I mean, shit, how do you explain Cortana? The ultimate, comic book-esque excuse she "got better"? Please troll harder, you're not that good.

On the off chance you're serious, did you forget how Halo 4 starts with Chief in cryo floating in a broken ship and how Halo 3 ends with Chief going in to cryo because he's stuck on a broken ship?

An even better example.

I just assumed they repurposed the Longsword they escaped in to make a better opening level for Halo 4? I'm not sure what you mean by Cortana, it's fully possible that she started to go rampant imbetween the ending of Halo 1 and the beginning of 4.

The SIV's aren't really contradictory to this, particularly as there's also no evidence of ODST's, which were also introduced in Halo 2.

Wut? Dude what are you talking about man

Well bear in mind I've never read the books or anything, for a lot of stuff I have to ask my friends about it. Do they change the universe much?

Abort thread....

Oh man yes
Truly awful.

Now it of course isn't as bad as what I am about to relate because Halo has Master Chief and the chief is bad ass personified but playing 4 reminded me of the time I saw one of the Twilight movies with my wife and I was like - "this is some fan fic nonsense right here babe." And her response "it all makes sense if you have read the book and the author notes and the short story on her blog"

O_o

The irony stings so bad.

I dunno where this is going but it's already more interesting then Primordium.

MC literally says in the first level, "I thought we had a peace treaty with the covanant" or something to that effect, meaning everything up till 3 definitely did happen. The Spartan Ops episodes especially make it clear it's a separate faction, even if you don't read the books. There's no retconning entire games or multiple universes going on here.

Someone get this guy out of here.

What's sad is he went through the process of getting an account just to troll.

Also, my head hurts.

What an absurdly large gun. Why would a military mass produce guns that are too large for their soldiers? If anything, these guns should look tiny when used by Master Chief, since they're not made for someone his size.

I obviously dont see it as you or this "core fanbase" does.
Zero reference to H3? It starts out where 3 literally left off. So.....!?

It looks good.

I can see what the poster was saying it doesn't look like Halo. By that, I'm guessing he means this has that dark, gritty feeling with the color filters whereas the Halo games are bright and colorful and full of lavish sets.

However, the Halo EU made-for-tv looks pretty good compared to some other EU stuff that's brought to TV, visually that is.

I'm curious about the story and this whole virus or weapon that targets humans.
