I don't know anything about Revolution. I don't even think EA has kits yet, even like basic ones. Dunno about any other developer.

The only reason I know about EA is because their flagship dev studio is in Vancouver, Canada, and I lived there for a few years and have a few friends there.

Reggie did say that dev kits would be going out this month, obviously EA would be on the top of the list when it comes to third party devs.

You know, I keep reading how the PS3 will completely surpass the 360 graphically but then we get pics like these Madden ones I have to think, "what the fuck is the point?" What exactly is the PS3 going to offer me over this? Better nostril rendering? well thats not exactly accurrate. the first picture is a render, and so might the 3rd one be. only the middle pic is all but confirmed to be realtime. we'll have to see how Madden 2006 and Madden 2007 on Xbox360 compares to PS3 Madden 2007 before we can start saying there wont be any real differences. still, I no next expect a MASSIVE difference bewtween Madden 2007 on Xbox360 (the 2nd incarnation of Xbox360 Madden) compared to Madden 2007 on PS3. probably a noticable one though.

It was NFL that went to sell an exclusive deal. They went to quite a few publishers. EA happened to offer the most money. Get the fuck over it already.

Lets be realistic here.
Those screenshots show some awesome detail. The game will be in 720p at minimum and the textures and lighting look incredible.
Playstation 3 may or may not be a lot more powerful, but as has been pointed out, in a game such as this, their isnt that much room for improvement unless the hardware is extremely more powerful..
The draw distance wont be an issue, textures won't be an issue, lighting won't be an issue, polygon problems won't be an issue. Sure crowds could be improved, or textures could be improved etc. but it wont be at a level which will even be noticeable in a game of such a narrow scope.
Until games with the scope of GTA come out, we wont be seeing any real noticable differences between the consoles next-gen, and thats assuming the consoles really are that far apart in hardware. Plus art direction is a big part of games graphics, and textures and resolution are the only things that affect PS2 competing with Xbox atm. Without those restrictions next-gen, im sure even in later gen games the difference will be trivial and not of anything worth bragging over.

As far as the PS3/X360 debate goes, I think the difference will be negligible. Kind of like PS2/Xbox this gen. On a standard television the differences were minor between the two console versions, but on an HDTV it became very clear which looked better. But with both systems supporting HD this time around, I think we will get back to slight differences. And the most powerful system does not always win.

I never said the CELL/PS3 version of Madden looks better.

What I've heard though that the programmers at EA have been able to get better performance out of the PS3 almost immediately ... and yes, that's despite XNA and all that other goobledeygoop.

Its simply the better hardware.

I read that like "the actual (not final) PS3 dev kit is 'better hardware' than the actual (not final) Xbox360 dev kit".

I also remember that some sites wrote that the CPU of the PS3 dev kits is more similar to the final one than the Xbox360 dev kits CPU (and both don't have final GPUs, for now, AFAIK).

I'd say your statement is not surprising at all and, while I suppose the next-gen Sony hardware will be more powerful than the MS one, I think it will be much more important to compare their final hardware than the actual dev kits.
