If anyone's wondering why today's pic hasn't been released yet, it's because it's still being rendered by the server farm.[/just kidding]

why hasn't the thread gone berserke like a 1000 pound gorilla; that comment is like... the water in the gate. Seriously. We have Uh Oh.

EA must have been frightened by all the +ve hype.

:lol :lol

Well because most people called it, it's no surprise.

nice image but all the images shown so far have been selectively atmopheric to almost suggest in-engine cut-scene type sequences (replay?) I mean, that's hardly a game shot. I think when we see the game engine, then we'll have a true gauge of next gen visuals

The funny thing about this picture is realizing that EA is pretty fucking average when it comes to graphics. as such, this bodes quite well for other developers' titles :lol
:lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol THAT IS VERY FUNNY AND INTERESTING!

I agree to an extent, developers such as Konami and Capcom are probably going to be able to do more than EA

Don't forget that Team Ninja will absolutely blow people's fucking minds.

I want to see this shit in motion; close-up screenshots don't show me shit. The majority of the game's (hopefully) graphical impressiveness will come from stuff like animation and lighting/shadowing...stuff you can't really see or fully appreciate in still screenshots. You could take that M2006 model and as amazing as it may be, give it poor animation and lighting and it wouldn't even look as good as current-gen football models with the best animation and lighting possible on current hardware. So really, these screenshots barely tell us shit. I mean, is it really a surprise that the models would have a lot more detail?

oh, and when I say animation, I also mean detail of animation and whatnot. Not just the fluidity of the players movements, but whether or not shit like hair realistically blows in the wind, their uniforms folding and creasing and moving realistically with realistic self-shadowing and whatnot. It really could go either way judging from these pictures. That's why I fucking hate when some graphically "HUGE" game is unveiled with only screenshots and no videos. Fuck you EA.

Why are you guys complaining about screenshots. The commercial isn't until Saturday. They aren't going be releasing gameplay videos so save your breath.

Love the details on the hands and gloves.

Graphically, perhaps but without the licensing I would think they would have to do a lot to win over buyers. I still can't believe that those are in game. What about the angle of the shot? Looks like a cut scene or replay if anything...

Can you think of another reason?? :lol

I don't get the joke, but it's obviously funny because other people get it. Damn, I'm going to have someone explain it to me. :( Let me guess, there is some sexual innuendo? :P

Well I was thinking that the character model is modelled with those folds and that it would remain like that all the time, rather then being dynamic and changing when the character animates. It would be great if it were part of the animation, things would look a lot more lifelike if that were the case.

It's funny you guys are fapping over that ESPN pic, when if you look at how the guys are animated you see how much of a joke the game is in that department.Look at the guy trying to tackle LT,look at the guys in the background running :lol

Anyways, enough with that bullshit. That new Madden screen is sexay!

FFF, take a look at the guy's sleeve. In the running shot his left arm's sleeve is straight, but in the "head crunch", it's crumpled. While not definitive proof, is interesting to say the least.

The other pic you're referring to is CG.

It should be, all they would have to do is add more polygons and animate them by hand.

I'd much prefer to see something more physically based. Let cloth physics handle it. Once you get it working, it's far less work for the artist too.

Some things I've noticed,Strahan no longer has his number on the front of his helmet plus the facemask is white now instead of gray, but other than that they look about the same...and the two things I listed are very minor things that would require no power at all except a quick color swap :lol Although I'm not sure what color their facemask is in real life to begin with...

I'm also guessing the commercial will be based around this same game, which sucks because I want to see different teams and players :P But I'll take what I can get of course ;)

I understood what you meant, it's just the way you said it that was funny. No sexual innuendo at all.
It's just that you stated something that was 100% obvious. So I threw some sarcasm in there for fun.
And I agree, I hope the equipment reacts dynamically. That would be very sweet. I'm interested in seeing what they can do with basketball uniforms. I'm stick of NBA Live and the player wearing shorts that make the players look like they are wearing big cardboard tubes around their legs.

I would think that making a jersey act realistically would be a pretty simple thing to do on the next consoles...
Just make a cloth simulator but that would eat into a nice chunk of the CPU power. About ten plus people on screen with complicated cloth simulation that you will probably barely notice at any point while playing? I would rather the power be put into something better like gravity on the players and better collision detection.

Guys, I'd rather the framerate be fast, the animation be top notch, and the lighting be awesome. I could give a crap if the jersey is crumpling correctly as the player moves, or if the tartar is gathering realisticly in the massive, cavernous gap between Straghan's teeth. I'll never see that level of detail.

I can't wait to see how this game is animated, although the one animation I wish EA would fix is the damn spin move. It's the only one that makes me wonder "Who the hell in real life moves like this!?" Seriously, we see the videos of EA doing mo-cap every year, but have we seen someone doing the mo-cap for that weird spin move? This is a mystery that MUST be solved!

Why dont they show FIFA 2006 screens instead? Football is much more appreciated around the world than NFL, which is only big Amerika.

the way the cloth reacts is a part of the animation guys.

I guess, but just barely. It's not like football players wear kimonos, for the most part their uniforms are tight fitting and don't really flow in the wind or flap when the are moving on the field.

Props to all those saying they'd like to see the power used to power better gameplay as much as or more than they'd like to see new graphical touches! Throw me in that camp.

I have a feeling that in a few days, we're about to get a short rolling-demo/video of a guy tackling some other guy. The pictures look like they're making up one sequence. If there's no footage of what an actual next gen game will look like, I'll personally be disappointed. At least until E3.

Why would they show FIFA during a NFL Draft?
