First Street Fighter 5 Gameplay - Ryu vs Chun-Li

so I hate SF4 and also found it boring to watch. The art style was also an eye sore

Watching this though, I'm very very intrigued all of a sudden. Art style still doesnt look too great to me, but its a huge step up from 4

LOVE the clean new UI. Hope that sticks. Even though it's a lot more similar to SFIV than a lot of people might like, I think a lot of little differences and details in the animations really add up. The fighters (ryu in this case specifically) look less like disjointed action figures to me and more like fluid characters.

DAMN!!!

the game looks great specially for a 2016 title, the characters have wight and the hit feedback reminds me a lot of SF 3rd Strike (which is great), I laughed at the noodle bowl moment hahaha < looks exactly like Ono project

can't wait to hear more about the combat details and mechanics (we can see there's no focus here at least)

this game is a huge win for PS4.

This is the first fighting game I've seen that combines smooth, proper technique for attacks with really powerful, accurate hit reactions. Looks fantastic.

And cats said this looks just like SFIV.

Shit looks amazing, the animations. Chun's idle! The way Ryu's hadouken dissipates when Chun blocks it and the energy wisps behind her.

OMG

The game does seem kinda slow. Heavy attacks appear to have a whole bunch of hitstun, for one thing.

It took me a couple of watches to realize that EX moves don't have the yellow flash anymore.

The music on that level sounds really boring and uninspired. I didn't like 4's music either tho...Actually struggling right now to recall a tune, as much as I have played that game.

For all intents and purposes, 5 looks like an evolution of 4 albeit prettier. I'm cool with that.

The pasta thing was funny when the match begun, but it really needs to get knocked off after the first hit...

Where is da parry doe

Are they doing stuff with the four elements in this game?

Chun=Water
Ryu=Air?/Lighting

And speculation:

Ken=Fire
Guile=Air
Zangief=Earth?

while I know this is super early in development and gameplay can change, it does look slow, not a fan of the character models and not liking the super mechanic (which to me looks like your meter may only be for EX moves and your revenge is only for "supers")....having said that I cant WAIT to play this. uuuggghhh the wait will be so bad.

To cross post:

I'm also thinking that maybe instead of being parries or Just Defends, the trailer is just showing off the animations for blocked moves and their different animations.

Ryu could store 2 EX charges. Chun 3. It's likely you have some sort of ability to select your power-up element.

Some things I noticed from the game play:

*You take chip damage from normal attacks. However this damage is recoverable (grey health).

*Back dashes are in although doesn't have that far of a distance. Seem to have some invincibility too.

*There is Just Defending of some sorts in the form of a blue spark when blocking. 100% not parry though, unsure what it does aside from building you some Revenge meter.

*Walk speed is slower than usual.

*EX meter allows you to go into a charged up state where all your moves are powered up and EX versions of themselves. This is sort of KI.

*Revenge meter seems to just be Ultra meter from SF4. You get an Ultra from it.

*You can't die from chip. You take a ton of chip from pretty much everything but you can't be killed from chip, last hit has to be clean. I am pretty confident in this based on how much moves chip although there is a possibility of there being hidden pixels in the lifebar but I personally don't think so.

Yep, they've given weight to the strength of the moves in this game from the looks of it.

parries is SF3, let it die in that like Focus should in IV.

The animations look so fluid. I don't remember SFIV looking half this good. As someone who always mained Chun Li in SFII, it's nice to see how her moves have developed into a real fighting style.

I'm not too worried about the game's speed, people thought SF4 was slow too then suddenly Viper.

That stage seems a tad long though, specially since you can extend it.
