First Street Fighter 5 Gameplay - Ryu vs Chun-Li

maybe they are making ryu into a hard hitting tank in this one... look @ the impact his normals had on chun... was ridic he had more damage, more links and more speed than ken for most of SFIVs lifepsan.

I had assumed some sort of cel shading graphics filter would be used in SF5 given how much people liked the SF4 reveal with the highly stylized shading.

I really like the new moves they gave Chun

I wish her having Blanka's slide meant he was gone.
Maybe it looks slower because there seems to be more weight on the animations?
That's what I think as well. Walkspeeds are definitely slower but the pace doesn't seem too different from IV

rewatching the trailer in 60fps and taking my time pausing frames and stuff--the animations are incredible. whiff punishing looks so fucking nice and real

They look exactly the same.

It's just that a large portion of the internet decided the original reveal looked just like SIFV without even looking at it.

You sure? It looks like the "cel shading" was turned down. On Ryu at least. The environments and Chun Li look the same but it looks like Ryu has a few changes at least.

Wow. As someone who has played SF4 less than a handful of times, and watched others play it just a handful more, SF5 definitely has a very distinct vibe about it. During close-ups/cutscenes, when not much is happening, it does look a little more SF4-esque. In action, though, it reminds me more of the classic games somehow, like SF2. Something about the models, the movement...not sure what it is, but it wasn't SF4 that I thought of watching the video.

Looks great. Just about how Street Fighter on the PS4 should look.

I wonder if an arcade version will be ready late next year with a console release sometime mid 2016 before evo. Even though I want this to be the case, I feel it would be a little rushed. But what do I know. Maybe the team is huge and they are already way further than expected. I mean, to even have a match able to be shown means they're kinda far along.

The best part of the animations is all the detail we get between movement. There's a clear transition between idling - moving and walking forward - backwards and it looks amazing

Yeah. Also do people really think Capcom worked on a new build of the game between PSX and now?

Why does Capcom have such a huge boner for slow walk speeds and huge maps. SF4 has pretty slow walk speeds across the board, and relatively big stages. SFxT had an even slower move speed and even bigger stages. In this game, the characters are crawling around, and you can bust down walls to make the already gargantuan stages like twice the size. There's a lot of dumb things in new Capcom fighting games, but this has to be one of the most aggravating.

This is the most exciting current gen footage I've seen since the WiiU was announced.

Nothing else either out on the 3 new consoles or on the way has me as hype as this game does.

this is probably alpha build of the game i am sure capcom will take criticism and work accordingly. It seems to me they are really listening to fan feedback and trying to build a game based around that.

ok that was pretty cool, don't think i saw any parries though
so basically using the super bar goes into an ex mode that changes properties of some specials
if you use revenge while in ex mode you will get a different revenge?, in the 1st match ryu's revenge is shinku hadouken even though we know he did denjin hadouken in the trailer
noodle bowl is cute, i wouldn't mind losing if i can put that on opponents lol

Based on the different levels of EX for both players, I imagine you pick a revenge art at the beginning like in 3s. It uses different meters but idk.

I sincerely hope they improve the visuals. So far it looks good, but nothing I would say deserves the citation: "Built from the ground up on PS4."

C'mon Sony, give me particle effects and better texture details.

That looked kind of dull. I am not sure why people are so impressed.

It didn't seem to have any interesting new mechanics.

Well we don't even know what the new mechanics are. "Ryu did something and now his fists have lightning" was the commentary.

There were some moments that made it look like the game could be faster than 4, but the way that blocked hits connect was weirdly slow.

Next gen as fuck.

Man. Can this game come out 2015? I need a fighter! T7 is not looking like a 2015 console release but this....c'moooooooooooon. What the hell is left for Ultra other than more balances? PS4 version can't be that demanding eh?

Not new mechanics but a lot of mechanics from either other SF games or fighting games in general which makes it a different game than SF4.

Guard crushes, just defends, chip on normals, no death from chip, powered up states etc.

I am very interested in this SF because for once it actually doesn't feel bloated with a ton of mechanics. No FADC or Parries to worry about. Probably going to be easier to play as well but we'll see.

OK so I just watched the gameplay footage

1- Ultras are back, but I do hope they alter their damage and not have it be like USF4 where 50% bar= 100% base damage, full bar= 150% damage

2- WHAT IF THE ULTRA YOU PICK AFFECTS HOW MANY EX BARS YOU CAN HAVE

3- You have recoverable health! Seems if you take chip damage, you are left with like 1 or 5% of it recoverable

4- Overall combo damage looks MUCH higher than SF4 which IMO is a good thing, hope they can balance it out

5- Noodle hat FTW

As is just edit Ultras so they are 1 level of damage only, heck why not just vary the length depending on the super type maybe?

I'm hoping that the slower pace means that attacks are riskier in general and the game will require more commitment to your actions without layers upon layers of feints and giving only a few frames for punishment.

I think the game would be much better as a game focused on spacing over frame advantage.
