Man you guys weren't kidding about the whey prices. Both EAS and ON have went up like $10 since the last time I bought them. I will definitely be trying out the Twinlab stuff.

I think the best you can aim for is 70% of your weight gain to be muscles, and 30% to be fat. There is no good way to avoid getting a bit of fat if you want to gain muscles. Just eat a lot, pick up a lot of heavy things and put them down again and stop micromanaging your diet.
The Twinlab stuff is really good people, especially for the price. Give it a shot. Seriously.
This is definitely the approach I've taken over the last few months. Try to eat healthy, no junk food everyday and chose healthier options when eating out. But for the most part, lifting heavy weights should take care of the rest. Of course, this is from someone that doesn't care about being extremely ripped. Strength, power and endurance are more important to me than aesthetics.
Also WTF with whey protein prices. Are we having a diary crysis or what? The prices are ridiculous right now. Perhaps companies are trying to take advantage of all the New Year's resolutions people. Supply and demand folks amrite?
Do one of them for at least 6 months
Anyone have good experience with hip flexor stretches? I've tried the 90/90 stretch and the kneeling lunge stretch, whatever its called. Neither are very effective, I'm been very tight for a while now, not sure how to get rid of it.
Tightness is right here:
Cookies in the office? Looks like it's my cheat day.
Be lucky you don't work where I am, Tim Horton's cookies and donuts almost every day. Thankfully my resistance has gone up since starting working out. I remember being the first to have my pick, and then often hoping for a few extras leftover to have another one.
Oh I'd be able to resist that easily. It's just that these cookies or sweets that are usually brought in are home-made and better than any store-bought stuff I can buy at an affordable price.
How's Nesquik after daily exercise?

Checked myself out after showering today. I've been dieting since September. I've come a long way and still got a ways to go.
Whey went up months ago, people are just noticing as they need to resupply. Demand has increased as more products (like gatorade said above) demand it so they can throw "8g protein" on their labels. I don't see prices coming back down anytime soon.
I'm about to go eat a fucking giant hamburger. Hells yeah.
I don't consider that cheating
Nope. Just sounds delicious.
I don't consider that cheating
I go through 5lbs in a little under a month, so I noticed quick. Thank god for subscribe and save.
What is your preferred brand of choice?
Haha, it's good enough not to hate. That's a good description.Regular ol EAS, the price is nice and it tastes good enough not to hate.
I think I'm going to get in on the 5/3/1 gravy train starting next week. I'm not progressing very much right now and need a change of pace anyway, been getting bored doing the same thing. Although I think my screwed up sleep is hampering my lifts somewhat but I'm not sure what I can do to not have my body wake up an hour before the alarm goes off.
I wouldn't call it a gravy train, especially if you do big but boring. It's going to make you earn your muscle. There isn't a part of my body south of my neck that isn't sore right now. My quads just finally are getting "good" and I did squats on Monday.
That said, I would squeeze any progression you can get out of other programs first before doing 5/3/1 since progression is very slow.
Yeah, well, I'm fat.
what do you consider fat?
My turkey sandwich has bacon on it.
That is all.
what do you consider fat?
5'8, 242lbs. Obviously.
By gravy train I mean, real slow progression but as long as there is progression I'm happy. My squats are pretty high at the moment (up to 340 for 1x5 at 148ish bw) so I think now would be a good transition point for that. Bench and press are not as good however but I'll take slow and steady for now since my upper body has always been lagging and getting plateaued at various spots.
No, you still want to eat all those calories so your body has them to work with for muscle growth.

Or when you can't stop shitting.Gravy train to me means shit is given to you easily.
