Creatine helps you lift heavier weight by promoting water retention in muscles and giving you a larger pump as well as promoting protein synthesis. So when you're done, you go off the creatine and your lifts go down, but overall they have gone up more than they might've without it. Is that correct?

I think of creatine as an invisible spotter. It's there to help me get up those reps I couldn't have done without it (plus every other benefit it gives). The main point is it has no downside or side effects whatsoever unless water weight is your ultimate enemy in life.

I think the confusion often comes from..

I actually thought for a second I was some genetically gifted being who was sent to this planet by the Gods to live amongst the plebs after reading the quotes you posted...but no it's just bullshit and excuses people make up.

This is near the end of my bulk from 165 to 215lbs in 18 months...eating close to 7000 cal on lifting days with an average of 5-6 hours sleep. Max DL went from 242.5 to 285kg and FS jumped to 400lbs for doubles and triples...

27.5" quads and 17.5" arms...but I wasn't using creatine or whey IIRC

By all means, procreate as much as you can, you beautiful, genetic freak.

Your post is very confusing. It seems like you're implying that protein supps work, but then you say "humans shouldn't incorporate processed shit like supplements anyway"

??

Anyways, protein powder is just a way for you to get protein to your muscles as fast a possible. As well as to help you keep your protein levels high. Once you get big enough it would be nigh impossible to eat your recommended daily amount of protein without them. You'd be eating meat, poultry, and fish all day long.

There has been no evidence to suggest portein powders are bad for you, and tons of evidence that suggest they do exactly what they promise to do which is to supplement your body with protein and increase recovery time and help you gain weight.

Going all natural is the best way, but it's hard!

MTP looks like me, except........more weight. :O

How does one go about eating 7,000 calories a day......

I eat pretty damn clean, but I have my pleasure of eating Kashi salsa pita crisps dipped in Atheeno garlic and herb cheese with feta. Other than that, it's oatmeal with pecans, banana, wheat germ, and raisins for breakfast. A homemade banana, strawberry, blueberry, flaxseed, almond butter shake, chicken breast and Fage honey greek yogurt for lunch, and for late snack a cinamon raisen muffin with almond butter. Dinner can be anything.

How do you guys feel about drinking? I generally try to drink as little as possible and when I do drink I go with something light like a glass of red wine, or whiskey on the rocks.

I know a couple glasses a week won't hurt (actually good for your heart), but curious at what point it becomes a detriment.

Anyone drink pretty heavily and still see good results?

I'm never been a big drinker, but I do like to have a few drinks on weekends.

So you're saying you just "bulked" and didn't do a true "cut" phase? If so, man huge props! Most people wished they looked like you after a so called cut.

Finally back from vacation, such a long drive. I'll post some beach pictures tomorrow probably. Feels good to know I'll be eating "normal" again. Ate like shit for a week.

Hey everybody, Just dropping in to say I just benched my body weight for the first time on Friday. 3 weeks ago I was 180 and benched 175, Friday I was 173 and benched 185. ONE EIGHTY FIVE!

I know there's a seperate thread for it, but what do you guys think of p90x? I wish I could just get the workout schedule without having to pay for the whole thing... I'd rather just do the workouts on my own in the gym instead of along with the DVD in my living room.

I'm going back to uni in September to do another undergrad degree. Already been through that lifestyle once and am not particularly interested in doing it all over again, though of course i'll go out for the odd night out.

If the other students think that I am weird or antisocial because of this then so be it. Fitness and health has become far too important in my life to ruin it by regularly binge drinking.

Folks, whats the dealy with creatine? Is it something you have to take eternally in order to maintain the bulk that it gives, so if I take it for a couple of months, look swole, then come off it I'll go back down to my prewater retentive state?

Also, does it make you look fat and moonfaced? And finally, what are the benefits of it?

Thanks

Everything you want to know was posted on this page alone up top.

Dude you look GREAT. Big and fucking STRONG. What are your lifts? If you lost some weight you'd look amazing.

Nice back Anton!

Nice back thickness bro!

Thanks, guys. Been focusing on my back (upper back in particular) this year, and just found Wendler's 5/3/1 w/Yoke Work article, so hopefully it will only get better.

Looks great, Anton. Your front reminds me of Tom Hardy as Bane

Tom Hardy definitely has that look of power I want, thanks!

Is there an easy page somewhere on the internet I can pullup on my phone for the 5/3/1 program? It's been a long time since I've had to calculate things and such, as fitocracy has met my needs while doing SS, so I'm trying to be certain I have all the info I need.

Just looking for the easiest possible way to track and calculate this.

If you get the book it has a template on what percentage goes with each training max. The book is definitely worth getting.

Alternatively, http://blackironbeast.com/5/3/1/calculator

I have the ebook on my kindle actually, I'm just trying to find something that can go to the gym with me on my phone, or even a spreadsheet or something at home to make tracking the 5/3/1 boring but big challenge. That's the next 3 months of my life at least, so if there isn't something, guess I'll try to create it!

That and trying to overanalyze how much to eat so I can make those gains without becoming a fatass.

I officially start jogging/running tomorrow! I aim to go from skinny to maybe still skinny but with some definition and more importantly some stamina. I'll also try to eat a bit cleaner and trade carbs for proteins.

So BMR calculators have me at a BMR of 1850-1900, which seems at least close. MYFitnessPal has my maintenance at like 2250ish without counting my activities. I'm starting 5/3/1 with Boring But Big, and trying to figure out how much I need to be eating on such a program, as while doing SS I 100% overdid it on my bulk, cramming way too many calories down my throat and gaining way too much fat that I've spent 5 months cutting. Advice is greatly appreciated.

I don't know if I should just eat the same amount on days I work and days I don't (bartender), go higher when I work, nor how high I need to make sure I go on such a program. 2600 net a day is where I'm sitting as of right now, with more to make up for lifting/cardio.

Starting to get stretch marks right outside the armpit area :/. So how does one deal with these?

You don't, they're there forever. Rubbing all that cream nonsense can help with making them fade faster (they eventually get lighter), but they'll never go away.

I get stretch marks on my bi's mainly.

So my legs have gone crazy skinny having not been able to work them for a month and a half, i need to ease them back into gymming.

I was doing SS and making steady progression, have only been back 2 weeks and working back/bi and chest/tri.

Can anyone recommend a good 3-4 day program for working everything bar legs? Obvs i'm keen as butter to get back into legs, however i can't squat for another ~3 weeks.

Need your help, guys

Is there a significant difference between Syntha 6 and ON Whey? I am thinking about switching from Syntha 6 to Whey, and just for the purpose of taking once or twice throughout the day as I will be having 14 hour days a couple of times per week. The goal isn't anything too specific but just to keep myself situated with protein throughout the day and have enough energy to workout when I finally get home at time

Thanks

Syntha 6 is a protein blend which offers some protein types that digest slower, On whey is made up of whey concentrate/isolates which digest faster, I'd say stick with syntha 6 if it fits within your calories (syntha 6 higher in calories, carbs, etc). Plus syntha 6 has a much superior taste than any of ONs flavor offerings

I'd get whichever is cheaper. Syntha-6 does taste pretty good but it has more carbs and fat. I think ON is better overall, especially if you're on a cut and just need protein. I really like the coffee version, solid but not spectacular.

Thanks guys.

I am not looking to do anything. Long story short - I have been doing P90X, followed the diet, lost weight, and turned out I was losing too much weight (bones showing when I flexed). So I threw out the diet plan, stopped counting calories, and just focused on eating healthy and making sure I am energetic going into a workout

Incoming shirtless beach pictures.

Definitely could have been thinner for these. Gonna work on that for next summer. ;)

Should I do BBB even if I could get more out of SS? I haven't kept up in the gym lately because of lack of car, my strength has stagnated, and when I do go I barely focus on moving up in weight. In the next week, I'll be back at school and able to go to the gym whenever.

Just bought 1kg pack with Vanilla flavour. Not quite sure of what kind of taste to expect.

I'm not a huge fan of the vanilla but I absolutely adore the chocolate mint flavour. I've been having two chocolate mint shakes a day for the past 3 months and I look forward to having them every day. So good.

Myprotein have samples available for £1 - grab a few next time you put an order in to try the different flavours - http://www.myprotein.com/uk/products/impact-whey-protein-sample
