You'll only need 8 weeks max. I think I went from 18% to 9% BF in 7 weeks. YMMV

When you get to the last day, just continue your Sunday (per book) mixed diet for several weeks

Start planning your supplements and diet. It's a regimented program and so simple if you have it set up.

That's an incredible amount of body fat loss. Jesus.

Guess I'll give it four weeks and go from there! Cheers, bud.

Yeah it was pretty remarkable. I did 45 min walking on treadmill on Sunday evening. Tried to do the recommended cardio on Wednesday, but it was hard! Carb ups by the book. Had best results with bagels from a bakery, not that crap in a bag at the store

Shogun I tried benching with the belt and didn't feel any difference. Maybe I'm doing it wrong, what are the physical cues I should focus on.

Are you arching? When I do it I get my arch right before lifting off and take a big breath, then hold it as long as I can pushing against the belt with my stomach while pushing with my feet/legs toward my shoulders through the rep/reps. I find that having the belt on helps me concentrate on keeping my arch tight. It might not do anything other than that.

I love Gaf...there's threads for everything.

I'm disgusted with the weight I've gained since High School and through College so I need some help.

Age: 24
Height: 5 10
Weight: 163
Goal: 140 or at the very least much less body fat, more toned (at 12.5%)
Current Training Schedule: Ha.
Current Training Equipment Available: College Gym/rec center.
Comments:

I'd prefer using all of the machines, but if I can't do enough with them and need to just the regular weights I guess I could. I'm just sure I have an embarrassing tolerance and probably testing out the weights will be a bit embarrassing.

The most important thing for me is getting more exercise in. I used to run cross in HS and am going to attempt to run daily in the morning and then do weights several times a week.

Diet is the big thing...I need to start packing lunches, but I have no idea what to pack. And I HATE cooking so eating healthy has been extremely hard for me. What do you all do?

What do you guys think about weighted push ups, like putting a plate in a backpack and then doing pushups?

I recently started doing proper pushups, meaning I move really slowly and get really low (nipples touching floor low) and I'm amazed at how challenging they are.

Really happy with my progress with the bent over rows. My favourite exercise. Sitting on 50kg atm and showing no signs of slowing down. :)

18 to 9 in 7 weeks is pretty unrealistic. I wouldn't expect that to happen normally. Think about it this way; a pound of fatis about 3500 calories. To lose that you need to create a deficit of 3500 calories. Assuming that you lose a pound a week through diet and another half pound a week through exercise, you'd lose about a dozen pounds of fat over seven weeks. This discounts metabolic slowdown, etc. while possible, it's very hrs to do in practice.

I posted this a few pages back. My diet consist of...

Eggs
Bacon
Tuna
Chicken
Chicken sausages
Chicken burgers
Turkey Burgers
Salmon
Salmon Burgers
Pork
Steak
Asparagus
Spinach
Green Beans
Broccoli
Lettuce
Cheese
Strawberries
Blue Berries
Whey powder

That should keep you set.

Have protein with every meal. Don't be afraid of fat. Eat vegetables for lunch and dinner with your proteins. Stay away from carbs in general. Give yourself 1-2 cheat meals a week and eat clean for all the other meals.

Anyone else mix up their cardio often? I find that running on the treadmill a few times a week is fucking boring. I've started hitting up the stationary bike / elliptical on occasion.

Not sure if you should, but every week or two I switch. Usually cycle between treadmill, bike, eliptical and track. It does get boring after a few days.

That's not a bad physique at all man. Look way better than I do, although i have only been lifting for a year and have barely changed my diet at all. How long have you been lifting?

Kinda just casually followed routines in 2010 but I really got things going and started to hone in my diet and program in January 2011. Took two months off in September and October because I just got lazy and life was pretty crazy (personally and professionally). Started up again in November.

Lookin' good bud, but what's up with your chest? Were you doing some wrasslin' neck chops?

Haha. I have this weird habit of getting into the shower and just scratching my chest. I don't even think about it rofl.

Skinny? Small? FAT?!

Dude, seriously, body dysmorphia total, haha. I've put in...so much effort...over the last three years, to drop from 300 lbs to 183 and get healthy and fitter and stronger, and while I'm slim now and getting my numbers up above sack of shit levels, I'm still like a year minimum away from resembling what you've got.

Goals are good, complacency can be bad, but have perspective too ;b

I agree. I wouldn't doubt that I have some sort of body dysmorphia and I do my best to block it out. When I'm lifting, I feel skinny and small compared to the other people there and to those I talk to. I know they have been doing it a lot longer than I have so of course, they have that advantage. When I am at home or looking in the mirror, I feel fat because I think that I should be leaner. It isn't anything serious but yeah, I keep myself in check from time to time.

Thanks for the input =)

How are you finding PSMF? I'm trying to decide between going on PSMF for a while or trying Ultimate Diet 2.0. UD 2.0 scares me, though. The depletion workouts look like hell.

Caffeine at least, and ephedrine if that's your thing, help greatly in this regard.

I felt just as lethargic on PSMF but had vastly superior results on UD2

I felt deflated and small on PSMF, similar to FallingEdge is now. I never really felt like that on Ud2. Plus you feel like a king from carb up to Monday.

I've only been on PSMF for a week and I'm only doing this for 2 weeks since by bf% puts me in category one. I've never felt tired or depressed. My workouts have always been fine as well. But yes, I do feel deflated and small but I can attribute that to damn near eating no carbs so I'm going to look less 'puffy'. The carb up on Saturday though... it will be glorious.

I buy the pre-seasoned chicken from Whole Foods.

All I eat is chicken, sweet potatoes and vegetables (not literally but that is the majority of what I eat.)

I just picked up some popcicle molds. Does anyone have the recipe that was posted in the old thread for the protein packed fudgepops?

Much appreciated if so!

I miss eating cottage cheese. I pretty much do all shopping at Costco and they only have a gigantic tub. I should get my ass to the grocery store tomorrow and buy some.

Fit-GAF I'd a need the following myth either confirmed or debunked

"... Some work-out rutines are low impact enough, that you can do them in consecutive days, your body will always tell you through muscle extenuation that you need the day off, communicating with your body is your guide to taking a day off"

The only communicating I do with my body is in the form of gaseous emanations.

In all seriousness though, traditionally abs and some other work can be done near back to back with no issue lower back work also comes to mind (I sometimes do mine 2x a week for both). Running also comes to mind although you may experience wear and tear. The safe and common ideal way to train is to work what needs working then rest it. (Cardio is typically the exception). Many people use what you just said as an excuse to take breaks when they need to keep working out (then they eventually fall off the "wagon"). Likewise, some people inevitably over train, especially beginners and potentially wind up with serious injuries.

The best thing you can do for yourself is read some lifting/fitness literature (not magazines but actual books). This way you know what to expect and how to deal with it. If that's not your thing, at least reading the OP can give you a good idea of what to do/where to go.

But no, your body being sore or "telling you it's had enough" doesn't mean shit aside from you're probably experiencing DOMs and need to keep at it. Although, if you're experiencing "pain" that's a whole other ball of wax that probably needs professional attention.

So I rode my bike to the gym, which is a pretty long ride about 1 hour with some hills, and then I went to do squats, I felt all the strength leave my legs at the warmup set. Irregardless, no squats for that training session lol.

I've always read that cardio before strength training isn't recommended, so I knew the principle in theory, now I know in practice lol.

Whats a good way to disguise how awful cottage cheese tastes?

Go full fat. Tastes much better. The caloric difference isn't that huge IMHO. 40 calories per half cup serving between full fat and non fat varieties.

I love how blunt Petrie is in his posts.

The problem is sarcasm & dry humor just isn't conveyed properly on a message board, that and it's just annoying as shit when the solution to a problem is literally in the post asking for help with the problem.

It'd be like coming in and saying "I just hate drinking water, but I'm so thirsty all the time, how do you guys deal with that?". Like come-the-fuck-on kids.

I used to scoff at the people that no longer wanted to do squats, but summer lifting hasn't been too kind with all the partying and cardio and my strength has been subpar and I hate squatting. Things were so much easier on GOMAD...

but it's so much fun to literally have a hard arse.

Also I saw a first at the gym today. Someone from my high school asked me and 2 friends for a spot for deadlifts. He was using the diamond bar with 405 on it and he wanted us to lift each side for him and for someone to stand behind him to make sure he didn't fall.....

You don't spot a deadlift, if he doesn't get it he just drops it. Same with ohp/military press.

And what do you mean he wanted you do lift each side?

Dude sounds a little off.

Lower back pain persisting in my last three front squat sessions, will just take off from squats and heal up (and then Europe for three months very soon will effectively reset me probably, but that's fine).

Making good gains on the bench though, and my upper body's always been really undeveloped so that's cool. Five pounds from a major milestone :D (comical milestone for a lot of you guys, but meaningful to me), will try to get there by the time I leave and then maintain with some bodyweight work.

Challenging when you're in an overall caloric deficit. Trying to go minor surplus with tons of protein on lifting days and major deficit (primarily via heavy cardio) on non-lifting days. Still making gains, slowly but steadily, probably because of still being in novice adaptation mode (how ridiculous is that, three years after I got into lifting...my silly frail body), but I'll take it, since I'm well into PR territory now while being slimmer than ever.

I hate when some of you guys do this. Strength is relative, as are gains. If you're making PRs and milestones it's awesome, period. You deserve to be happy/proud. Anyone that would laugh at numbers you post in this regard are assholes and not worth your time.

As for your back pain, have you tried hyperextensions or good mornings? It may help (after you heal up of course).

As for your "silly frail body" looking at your weight loss post this is understandable since your focus was fatloss over all. Now you can focus on being a monster (if you so wish.)

Yeah, I know, I'm in the fitness thread though. Guys with 600 pound squats still talk about how weak they are, I'm definitely not going to be anything but as modest as possible ;b

Hit 100lbs on overhead press. I've been at 95 for awhile and the first set just felt easier so I decided to up it. Pretty happy about it, especially since I'm on a cut.
