Alright fitgaf, I am looking for a good affordable diet, I am a big guy, nearly 300 pounds, but I also have alot of muscle under the fat which I'm proud of, Ive been going to club fitness whenever I get the chance and been doing alot of run-walking on the treadmill, I'm not trying to get super skinny or anything, just want to slim down and consistently keep slim. I am willing to eat alot of things, UT never, ever broccoli.

Are you looking for a specific diet? The nutrition OT would be much better, but have you calculated your caloric info yet? At minimum, start eating at a deficit and exercise more.

I havent calculated my intake but I eat alot of meat, I can say Sunday which is the last time I was at the gym, I didn't have time to really eat anything but a apple, at the gym I walked off about 400+ calories but when I got home I was constantly hungry and kept eating that day, so I want to get a routine down where I can lose weight without me body trying to maintain its weight.

Deadlift at 375 x 6 been stuck at this weight and rep range for about 2 months. Dropped the weight 10% and managed 2 more reps.

For squat I finally broke the 245 lbs with good form for 8 reps. Second set dropeed 10% and did 225 for 10 reps. Gonna move up to 255 and see where I am at!

Fit-Gaf, are there any popular strong men competitors you admire or like?

I watched this video about pudzianoswki (it's polish with spanish subtitles, sorry :( ) and he described his routines and what he does and his approaches. He's done plenty of disciplines, incluiding Karate, looks like a guy that has a devotion for what he does.

I don't care what juices these guys take but I care about their passion and commitment to the sport they chose.

after watching that failure of an athelte that is/was levrone, this was kind of reassuring

3 days a week just a mix of planks, decline crunches/sit ups, stir the pot, dragon flys, planks, and swiss ball rollout. There is another one that I cannot think of atm.

I've never done core work more than twice a week but this and diet has got to work.

Cool stuff, I'm stuck in somewhat similar water and was thinking about lowering the weights / doing more rep work as well.

The goal is to reach 405 in the Deadlift by early september (current max is 375), I have no idea how dumb of an idea that is.

230x3 on bench was super easy. Finished it quick and great form. Weighed in at 238 again this morning, stalled but not concerned. I honestly think I'm gaining muscle and losing fat at the same time. I know it doesn't make sense, but I think being fully adapted, the rules are different. I am lifting heavier now then when I was a lot heavier.

Gonna keep going.

Ok a few things to think about.

1. Track your calories for a week. Don't change anything, eat whatever, just track them. Include condiments, cooking oil, etc. Use an app.
2. Now that you know how much you honestly eat, figure out what to trim. Usually it's carbs first, then fat, then protein.
3. Understand what exercise is. It does not burn calories that efficiently relative to not eating them. Much easier to not eat the calories. Exercise is the spice for total weight, diet is the meat and potatoes.
4. Where exercise does matter is with what kind of weight you lose. Don't exercise, lose fat and muscle as end up like a deflated balloon. Lift weights keep muscle look good, feel good and be healthier. So lift weights. Cardio is a nice plus bit weights first.
5. It is normal to feel hungry after exercise. You do need to refuel, but be smart. If you're trying to lose weight and you go home after the gym and Hoover a pizza, then it's not working. Always eat in the context of a healthy diet.
6. Dieting doesn't have to suck. You can eat delicious food and have it make sense in your diet. I'm eating pulled pork and vinegar coleslaw and drinking a beer right now and I'm guilt free since it's in the context of a healthy diet. Even my 'healthiest' meals are tasty... A steak and sweet potato on the side with roasted veggies. Yum. Learn to love spices.
7. Understand that hunger is something that you should be comfortable with but shouldn't be overwhelming. You likely have a food addiction but can beat it. If you're starving all day long eat more high protein foods until you're fine. Not full, not stuffed, but not hungry.
8. Drink lots of water. The obese often can't tell the difference between thirst and hunger.
9. Don't lose it if you fuck up. It happens, move on and learn.
10. Practice conscious eating. Have fun but be aware of what you put into your body at all times. Make it a choice not just mindless.
11. Try my to drink calories or eat junk food. It's got a lt of empty calories and doesn't fill you up.

Good luck! Keep us posted.

Are you looking in a mirror when saying that?
Yes. While I look down and read you're gaining muscle while losing fat. You could probably stop lifting weights and just do 5 pushups a week and be ripped with dem genetics!

I wish, I'd need genetics far superior to mine which are low tier. But really, I've read about being fully keto adapted and losing fat + gaining muscle at the same time.

According to Jeff Volek, there is research suggesting it's likely. I'm still reading up on his work. I honestly don't know how to explain how I do what I do.

Hi guys, I'm looking for a good and cheap-ish protein and I'm torn between Musclemeds Carnivor and Muscletech's Nitro, the thing is that there's a price difference in my area of $15 and those $15 are worth a month of gym sooo... would you think Carnivor is good enough for someone who stagnated in "natural" workout and who is about to consume its first protein, or is it Nitro really worth it? Thanks!

Down to 237.2, 1lb away from my old lowest, but I've never looked so lean, seriously. Going to skip gym today and do deadlift tomorrow.

This is COMPLETELY off-topic, but can you please stop tempting me with those arcade sticks you keep posting for sale? Thanks.

No! I'm fgc 4 lyfe. I'm keeping 3 sticks other then they ones posted. I just need to simplify and be ready for sf5 on steam. My god, so hyped for it.

Lol I'm in the same kind of situation I think. Just sold off $800 worth of consoles, arcade sticks, niche games, etc in an effort to better focus on fitness and other things. Just keeping the gaming pc and a single arcade stick.

I feel guilty when I have an abundance of things I don't use. And with lifting and running, find myself playing games less and less. I will never fully give it up though.

And yes, SFV looks sick.

SFV not PS only anymore?

On topic, I think weighted pull ups and weighted dips might be my two favorite arm exercises right now.

As mentioned it's ps4 and pc, plus it's cross play. you can play ps4 vs pc online. So buy sf5 anywhere and you can play it against anyone on any platform.

Of course you nerds play the shitbag that is SF4.

Play a real fighter!

real talk, I've been playing fatal fury special on neo geo more often then anything else.

I still believe that Real Bout Fatal Fury 2 is the best fighting game that SNK has put out.

Hey fit-gaf, i know that this may not quite be the right place to ask this but... what are your thoughts on sprinting while fasted?, i think i remember reading that it's not recommended because your body will start using your muscle as fuel. Is that accurate or am i misremembering?

Sorry man, if you aren't talking about neo geo era 2D fighting games, we can't answer you.

On topic, from what I understand, you're fine as long as you don't overdo it.

Sprinting is more like lifting in that it has an anabolic effect, as opposed to steady state cardio. Of course any kind of physical activity will have to get energy from whatever is handy when you take it to the extreme or for very long sessions. Here is an article with a cited study:
