Feeling old today man. My daughter is now 13 freaking years old! Wow

Lordy thats terrifying.
Growing up with two sisters if I had kids my heart would want girls but my mind would know to pray for boys.

I don't know about landmine rows, but landmines as a bit of equipment are a fair bit more versatile than a t-bar setup because of rotation. Some excellent shoulder and core exercises you can do.

(There may be T-Bar setups that allow this sort of freedom too I guess, but I've never seen one.)

Yeah close parallel grip and wide are all variations I have seen on a T-Bar setup.

Stiff leg DL are great for your hamstrings but nothing will hit your quads like BB squats. If you absolutely can't squat, do the exercises you listed plus stiff leg DL and maybe throw in leg raises as an accessory. Hope you feel better soon.

Have you tried Bulgarian split squats? They're pretty serious business for your legs on the whole (when you get past the initial balance issues).

As for best deadlift for legs, Romanian deadlift hits your hamstrings pretty hard, but getting the form right is tricky.

Before you pack it up post a form video here. I'm willing to bet there's a better chance the people you asked don't know proper squat form over the chance of a random nerve preventing squats.

Have you tried front squatting? I find it's a lot easier to keep your back straight and it hits your legs hard. It's a little different and just takes a while to get used to. I love them now, probably prefer them to back squats.

Thanks for the tips guys. I would front squat but my flexibility is low (I'm working on it!) and find it difficult to squat while holding a bar in front, always end up leaning forward too much.

Feck. Today was 6 sets Deadlifts > 40 minutes cycling > 3 sets wide squats. My lower back is going to be bringing the pain tomorrow...

Totally saves my lower back on similar workouts.

Grr, this moving house shit isn't working out for me yet. I'm struggling to find anything of a decent weight to lift right now... need to start moving my washing machine and the like, but they come last. =/

My girl slaps my ass often, last night she did it to me at target. I told her I'm not a piece of meat, but she said "but you totally are babe", to which I had no reply. She's right.

I eat them on my Refeed days.

The idea of someone choosing to eat rice cakes on a refeed day is a new one on me. It's usually wafer thin women eating them and feeling bad because they chose to have two cups of water with it instead of just one.

Bro what? That is a depressing Refeed.
This is what a good refeed looks like:

...go on...?

Ha sorry Bum I missed this. I had some holiday nog too early one day and went out to shovel our sidewalk and driveway but I started at the corner of our sidewalk and I meant to shovel out the sidewalk and then turn right into my driveway but I went down one extra house on the sidewalk and shoveled my neighbors complete driveway and was just about to do his walkway up to the front door before I realized my inebriated blunder. Thankfully he came out right about then and I got the bonus of him believing I am the greatest neighbor of all time. Best part is I didn't even shovel our driveway at that point. Yes I am aware that only me and people on a cocktail of Acid, Meth and chili dogs have had this same experience.

Well, if anyone liked MTP, it's over. This post probably made him violently pass out and smash his head into the ground.

Can someone explain the idea behind a refeed day and when it should be used? Is it only during a bulk or a cut phase? How many more calories over maintenance should you go? Cheers

This is the least evidence based way but I only do them when I just feel weak all over and extremely hungry. I tend to grab a big Chinese takeout or eat an entire dominos pizza or something...so I guess 1500-2000 over my calories? I don't do it often.

I only use them when cutting, and I go big. At least 3k calories over what I'm cutting with.

I don't use them for diet adherence though (no problems there, I was in deficit for more than a year once), I use them because they massively speed up the rate at which I lose fat.

Thanks guys. I'd be very interested in reading the mechanism behind why a refeed/cheat day helps with continuing to lose body fat.

Last week I failed on ohp with only 2x170 instead of 5x170. I hit every rep on every other lift, so I was pretty upset about it. I went back today even tho I didn't get much sleep, and almost got it, it was good enough for me while cutting and mid move. Ohp with 5x130, 5x150 and 4x170, almost got all 5 but form was suffering. Racked it, waited 20 seconds and hit one more. Ended it with 10x130.

Feel a lot better then I did last week. Resting up till next week. Moving back into apartment this Saturday, going to be till Monday till I'm back to normal at least.

There's a ton of arguing in the internet about it, but these two make for interesting reads:

https://www.t-nation.com/diet-fat-loss/in-defense-of-cheat-days

I actually try to not eat sugary shit on my cheat days.

Arguably it's exactly when you should go high carb. Depends on what your definition of a cheat day is. For some it's "ooh, I had a pack of chips, I'm terrible", for others it's "GIVE ME ALL YOUR FOOD, AND DON'T STOP BRINGING IT TIL I PASS OUT".

I subscribe to the Cooter Protocol, which is somewhere towards the middle to top end of that scale. I'm neither here nor there on the actual science of it, but for me, it's the only thing that gets me to low body fat levels in a reasonable amount of time.

I'm trying to make the Super Bowl my first cheat day of 2016. We'll see if I make it. I'm considering revising that and doing championship day and super bowl.

bah I am so jelous of you guys and your awesome refeeds

the food porn in this page has like a gazillion grams of sodium I have to be careful with.

seriously, the CDC says noone should have more than 2.4 grams of sodium A DAY...

one pizza, not the one with the worst stuff (bacon, pork, etc), has like 5-6 grams of sodium. that's just the pizza... you guys know what that means? you guys probably land in the 15 gram area on a refeed day. Maybe more.

Now that I've been paying attention to sodium in foods, I realize how mindblowingly ridiculous is it how much more we get than we need or should and it's by far the hardest thing to avoid in food. Sugars or fat? easy detectable, you can even see it and taste it. But there's lots of "healthy stuff" that gets everything right but have 1 gram of sodium per portion, Frozen veggies? Sodium galore. that healthy fish you thought was great and "clean"? forget it.

the world keeps spinning, though and people aren't suddenly dying due to sodium overload, so I have to question whether 2.4 grams is a bit extremist. Wouldn't be surprising considering CDC is extremely cautious.

I only watch sodium if I'm trying to cut for a specific date. I don't go batshit with it otherwise (I've never really felt the need to add loads of salt to stuff), but I wont avoid salty food either (regularly eat salted popcorn).

...and uhhh, my frozen veg has pretty much zero sodium in it. I can only assume you're buying stuff that's been altered with butter etc added for flavour. Same goes for my fish (what little of it I eat).

Edit - 5-6g of sodium in a pizza sounds incredibly high too. Salt, sure, but not sodium. I just checked one of mine, and a 1,000 calorie serving has 900mg of sodium in it. Are you sure you're not mistaking the two? You can convert the values here: http://www.traditionaloven.com/culi...convert-gram-g-to-sodium-na-milligram-mg.html

I add a little salt to my eggs in the morning. That's about it. Very little until dinner.

Honestly though, I don't care. You know what can kill you? Too little sodium. My high school gym teacher's heart stopped at the finish line of the Chicago Marathon due in part to low sodium levels.

Psycho, in America the pizzas do have a ton of sodium (I know Sphinx isn't American but...). One large pie from a pizza place has about 5k mg.
