Florida Gov. Declares State Of Emergency Over Hurricane Irma (Up: clean-up begins)

Well, I can't argue here. FF4 is one of my all time favorites, and is easy to lose yourself in.

I prefer 5 and 6 to 4, but 4 is more similar in style to Mystic Quest, while being a far superior game.
Although, as far as US Square games go, I do prefer Mystic Quest to Secret of Evermore.

I only have two SNES RPGs. :( Mystic Quest and Illusion of Gaia.

Not much of a fan of Illusion of Gaia either, honestly.
So, well, continue on with Mystic Quest, I guess.
(And get more SNES RPGs after the hurricane)

EDIT: Top of page post... well, could be worse.

Anyone know how Fort Lauderdale is doing?

Fort Lauderdale Beach area?

I live north of Fort Lauderdale lots of wind right now. but no power cut so far which is surprising. If my area is anything to go by, expect lots of flooded streets and debris.

Illusion of Gaia has aged like fine wine.

Lost power twice now in Lake Mary, but back on again. Wind is certainly getting much worse. I truly hope folks remained vigilant through today, as is the turn towards the Orlando area is a bit unexpected (at least, for me).

Power has been flickering all evening here on the East coast. Big oak tree in my front yard is fucked up and the river is up in my backyard. Not too bad so far.

The Latest: House-to-house search begins Monday in Keys

9:05 p.m.

The county administrator in the Florida Keys says crews will begin house to house searches Monday morning, looking for people who need help and assessing damage from Hurricane Irma.

Monroe County Administrator Roman Gastesi says relief will arrive on a C-130 military plane Monday morning at the Key West International Airport.

Once it’s light out, they’ll check on survivors. They suspect they may find fatalities.

Gastesi says they are “prepared for the worst.”

Hurricane Irma made landfall Sunday morning in Cudjoe Key.

8:45 p.m.

More than 3.3 million homes and businesses — and counting — have lost power in Florida as Hurricane Irma moves up the peninsula.

The widespread outages stretch from the Florida Keys all the way into central Florida.

Florida Power & Light, the state’s largest electric utility, said there were nearly 1 million customers without power in Miami-Dade County alone.

The power outages are expected to increase as the storm edges further north.

There are roughly 7 million residential customers in the state. (edited)

Power is off on my street in Clermont. Transformers blowing up all over the place. Sparks were shooting out of one just across the street from us.

Infrastructure question from outsider.

How much of power lines in US / Florida are dug underground? Like is it common practice or still a lot wire in air?

Just trying to figure out for myself if power outages are mainly from lines coming down or from transformer stations getting fucked up.

Lines are buried in my community but when you leave the entrance they are all on poles and right next to damn trees. Even going through tree branches ffs. Same with cable tv lines. There are a ton of trees here. Even if the tree leans on the line wet it can pop the line breaker at the pole.

So water is getting into my front door. Is there anything I can do to help stop it? It's not flooding. It's just the rain is pouring straight into the crack at the bottom. I really don't wanna stand here and mop all night.

In front of the door is a 5 inch platform so I know it's not flooding.

Getting hammered past 30 minutes in New Port Richey in Wyndtree area. Still have power somehow even with a billion trees hanging near or through power lines.

Smoked some weed with my fiancé and sister because we were all getting anxious about the storm and now my parents know we all smoke weed... OOOPS

In terms of storm shit, we're in Riverview/Tampa and have only had flickering power so far, so that's not too bad.

Rolled up towel maybe? Though I've got a feeling it would saturate that pretty quickly.

Duct tape

Duct tape and plastic sheeting if you got it. Experiment with it. Kept the water from coming in my doors.

Yeah already tried that. Soak in like 5 minutes. I need to find something waterproof. I have a glass door and I put a table in front of it and braced it with ropes so at least the wind might not shatter the glass.

But water still coming in. I need something to stuff behind the table so the rain get deflected elsewhere.

I heard a cut pool noodle can help.

Well this is my fucking nightmare, eye coming right at me in Orlando. Fucking amazing this piece of shit changed course like this and is coming right for Orlando.

Charlie was a category what, when it came through Orlando?
Charley was like a Cat 1 when it came through here. I tried looking this up and best I can find is 85 mph sustained winds with MCO recording a max gust of 106. That fucked up Orlando pretty hard so I'm kinda worried about what Irma is going to do if it keeps heading this way. I haven't lost power yet near Hunter's Creek but who knows. I borrowed a fat stack of books from the library just in case :/
