No power in Port Orange. Transformers are continuously heard in the background buzzing and wind gusts ahoy. No damage in this complex other than small branches along the road, a luxury not a lot of people south had.

No power back at my house in Wesley Chapel off old 54. Can't even get on the Withlacoochie Power site to report an outage. Must be a bunch of other residents swamping it as well.

Waiting for the wind to die down a bit here in Orlando before I head back to assess any damage.

Damage assessment, lost about 30 shingles and a chunk of my plastic fence, neighbor had a tree on his house, another lost all but the posts on his fence.

Considering Texas and Florida, what happens next?

Like, tons of people without homes. They can't go to work to earn a living either.

And it's not like they get that stuff back after the waters gone. It's literal devastation.

How do they cities in this states and their citizens recover
Live in a shelter for a few months/years? Gov just buy them a new house elsewhere? They start interviewing somewhere else?

Hey bud, from Ocala but rode it out in jax. My cousin and older bro are fine,said they lost power and lots of debri and ones fence went down, but are ok.

I havent heard from my bro or mom since 5 am but im hoping theyre just passed out or phones are dead. Apparently ocala had some tornado warnings. They stay on NE side of town, not far off 326.

Soon as i hit post she text me theyre ok! Hope you and yours are too. Ive been concerned with a few trees for a couple years now so its def a relief.

Does anyone know how Gainesville is going? I imagine they're still without power, but no communication from my sister since last night.

Thanks. My grandparents are in Ocala and had a bunch of family who evacuated to their property. Last major hurricane they had a tornado go through their area, and we couldn't get them on the phone this morning, so I'm glad to hear Ocala wasn't hit that bad

My parents in Ft Myers are fine. They didn't lose power. Some downed trees and debris, some flooding at the ends of their street. My dad sent a video around 6 yesterday and I asked why he went out in 100+ MPH winds, and the answer was "He wanted to."

Parents. Geez.

My brother is in Bonita Springs, lost power, minor street flooding, nothing major. Downed trees but Lives/Houses and Cars are all looking to be ok.

Also reporting no power in Gainesville. Wish I could find out if my workplace in Alachua has power that didn't require Internet in my laptop.

Just checking in down in South florida, just got cell service back but no power. Took a trip around the neighbor hood. Lots and lots of trees down every where but no structure damage for the most part.

No problem. At least fish here in lake county, I've got no power and cell service is almost nil, so i prob won't be checking in much. As an uodate, my mom's power is out, so it's likely that there are other outages.

Valdosta with high winds and moderate rain. Tree just fell right next to my house and luckily enough didn't fall on our bedroom. It fell between the house and the fence. Had to be a nasty gust because this tree is at least 40 years old and it's root system runs under my home. I went to examine and it's been uprooted and snapped. The root itself is so thick it looks like a log. Mother Nature take a Xanax, please.

Just made it home in Riverview. My fence door was ripped off and an easement tree out front looks about a quarter uprooted. Made out well all things considered. If anyone in and around the Tampa area know of any grocery and/or convenience stores that will open sometime today, pass along the good word.

Actuslly just want a Pub Sub

In the few, long days since Irma pummeled the northeast Caribbean, killing more than two dozen people and leveling 90 percent of the buildings on some islands, the social fabric has begun to fray in some of the hardest-hit communities.

Residents of St. Martin, and elsewhere in the region, spoke about a general disintegration of law and order as survivors struggled in the face of severe food and water shortages, and the absence of electricity and phone service.

Palm Springs, FL here. Got power out yesterday morning, surprisingly got it restored this morning (considering we are only like 10 people on this subset of an older grid that predated FPL).

No major structural damage to the house, although cellular seems to still be out. Internet thankfully works, though.

Never lost power in my part of Windermere, and I'm very thankful for that.

My neighbor's house had its soffits all torn up around one side, and bent on the other. I sent them pictures, since they're in Mexico (Cozumel) and their cruise was docked there until further notice.

I think next time, I'm just going to get in my car and drive to NYC. Even if it means being stuck there for a week. The anxiety was just too much for me.

What city/neighborhood if you don't mind?

I live in NMB but evacuated and don't know anyone in my area to ask, so just curious.

I am honestly shocked Tampa having kept power so well. The legend of 'Tampa can't get hit' continues.

Well, looks like my mother in Trinity 30 miles northwest of Tampa came through fine, power didn't go out and no significant property damage, so that's a big plus.

Never lost power here in celebration, but it helps the power lines are buried.

Tree came down into the neighbors yard and broke the fence so I'll have to get in contact with insurance at some point for that one.

Otherwise, just a lot of down trees and debris in the neighborhood. Nothing that I saw looked too bad.

Really glad that turned out to be essentially nothing for Sarasota. Never even lost power.

The only damage done was me telling this girl I love her incase the hurricane kills me.

I've stayed at my parents during it. The water came halfway into their garage, and half their neighbors had water in their houses. So they got lucky. It's here in ft. Pierce. My house is 5 minutes away and I fear I have water in my house. The flooding is still too high sk I can't get to it yet.
