Stay safe, FloridaGAF. Hoping you won't get it bad.
#Irma forecast to be at Cat. 4+ strength for 5 consec. days - this has only happened 4 times in satellite era (since 1966).
I know someone who's currently in on vacation in Disneyland right now.
I hope he'll be okay.
Has there been a sudden increase in natural disasters/episodes? First Harvey and now the heat in california then this? Doesn't sound like much I guess but its still more then last year I'm guessing.
Stay safe, FloridaGAF
Definitely doesn't look great.
The unfortunate reality is a lot of people that don't evacuate simply are unable to. Some people lack a place to go, some lack transportation, and many would rather go out with their property than lose it all and be unable to replace it. An early state of emergency declaration should help some in this case, but you're always gonna have people that would rather go down with their property than lose it all. Please gtfo the way of this hurricane, im so tired of seeing people die from something thats predicted
I work for the major (only) power provider in South Florida. This is going to be a hell of a week. Hope it misses Miami and veers off the coast.
Anyone made an IrmaGERD joke yet? Want to get it out of the way before any fatalities.

Be safe out there, bud. Y'all deserve all the blessings..
Is this negro humor? Negro humor always escapes me..
Hurricane Irma will be larger than the Peninsula of Florida, so on any of the most likely tracks, the entire width of the state will feel the storm. The parts near where the center goes will get the worst, however, and we won't know where that is until we get much closer to the event.
Well in fairness, if a hurricane actually hit jax it would shit all over jaxJacksonville shits on hurricanes, not worried.
The post you are responding to is ridiculous.
Let's wish destruction and death on people who may, or may not, have a similar political outlook as me. FFS

Nah, we tanked hurricane Matthew last year head on. Just some flooding, didn't even lose power.
The beaches got killed last year. So many houses destroyed.Except for the beaches area. Many places and businesses there are still fucked from Matthew and haven't recovered or gotten paid.
Yeah that storm was such a dud for people inland. Literally about 40 mins without power in the afternoon and stayed on once it came back on.Nah, we tanked hurricane Matthew last year head on. Just some flooding, didn't even lose power.
Matthew didn't even make landfall.
Matthew was extremely fortunate for Florida in that it barely avoided making landfall. Drawing conclusions from Matthew is dangerous.Matthew didn't even make landfall.
A look back at Katrina's path.

Dude, what are you talking about, our main issue continues to be flooding. Hollywood, Hallandale, Davie, Sunrise, etc continue to have issues with flooding just from regular rains. Miami Beach and Aventura are even worse.
And given how our building codes continue to decay little by little, I wouldnt be surprised if there are a lot of losses, and not just financial ones.

Uhhh...head on but no landfall? Jax is completely surrounded by water. If/when a hurricane makes landfall there, its fucked. Thought about this while driving over the Buckman todayNah, we tanked hurricane Matthew last year head on. Just some flooding, didn't even lose power.
