Floyd Mayweather vs Conor McGregor - Saturday August 26th |OT| FOOK / YEAAAH

But there was no reason for this fight to happen in the first place. So a rematch that shouldn't happen could happen.

Get these dudes in front of some ESPN cameras talking some mess and boom $$$. Unless Connor don't want that cash cause you know Money does. Book that shit.

There was a reason for this fight to happen in the first place. To sell people on the spectacle of the biggest star in MMA crossing over into boxing, the mystery of how he would do, and the ability to sucker rubes into thinking he had a chance. All of that is gone now.

I saw somewhere that Conor winning would be the biggest combined loss in Vegas history.

Don't know how accurate it was but, easy to see where the wind was blowing. FIVE DUDES put a mil on Floyd, basically house money.

It was definitely accurate. It was by far the most money ever put up for a sporting event, and the majority of it was on Conor.

I saw tweets from ESPN saying how the Vegas Sportsbooks breathed a sigh of relief after Mayweather TKO'd Conor. LOL

I get that, but the odds weren't as lopsided as they should've been due to all the bets on Conor. What, like 80% of the actual money was on Mayweather. Even with worse odds that seems like a huge payout.

I shoud've fucking bet on this fight. Was thinking about it today but decided not to. Damnit.

Sure but those odds only shifted after all that money was put on Conor with much higher odds. From my understanding, more of the actual money was on Conor.

No, I'm acknowledging that he lost, regardless of the payout, something a lot of folks in here seem to have a hard time doing. Instead we're seeing typical troll logic of "losing is actually winning."

No, your initial remark was that Conor is dumb for participating in this match. We're telling you that's bullshit, and you're moving onto 'well, the Conor apologists are oblivious', which yeah, is true.

But it's besides the point.

Acting like Conor is a bum as a fighter because he lost to Floyd is like saying an Olympic Decathlon Champion is a bum because they lost to Usain Bolt in the hundred meter dash (after Bolt was retired for 2 years and then trained for a few months for the race).

You're comparing someone who's elite at one particular discipline to someone who's solid to very good at a lot of them (which collectively makes someone an elite mixed martial artist). They're related, but completely different types of fighting.

If I didn't have to drive an hour I'd have put a G on Floyd and taken my free money lol.

I think you have a very loose definition of "great". Conor didn't do jack in the first few rounds. He was very active, and in boxing and combat sports in general, people often confuse activity for achievement. All of that activity accomplished nothing other than to tire him out faster.
I agree. McGregor wasted himself in the first few rounds.

Maybe a few more karate chops to the back of the head would have done the trick.

Conor is absolutely not a bum as a fighter, he's a bum as a professional boxer

Fair enough. He's a bum as a boxer.

There are a bunch of things that can be true at the same time. Such as:

- Both fighters made a ridiculous amount of money.

- Both fighters became more famous.

- It was a one-sided drubbing and Conor lost soundly.

- Conor is amongst the best fighters in the world.

- Boxers are better at boxing than people who are not boxers.

- The fight was a lot of fun.

The majority of the money was on Floyd but they may have had to pay out more if Conor won.

Floyd is a genius in that damn ring. They had a plan and executed it perfectly. Any round Conor won was because Floyd allowed it as part of the plan. Worth the money, since it was fun to watch live.

I clarified that he was dumb for thinking he could win, which he was. Did you miss that post? As dumb as Floyd would be if he went into an MMA ring, even with a big payout.

After 49 fights, Floyd finally decided to fight for the crowd and give them a show.

this is such bullshit. mayweather is definitely not Roy Jones entertaining, but he has a great resume with great performances. He walked down multiple hall of famers and title holders, like Oscar, Zab, Maidana x2 and Moseley. He embarrassed Hatton and Gatti. Of course he has some stinkers, like when he dismantled Pacman, and he fought safe fights like Berto, and Guerrero.

He didn't fight 50 bums. He pretty much cleared out everyone.

Yeah, and now he went some rounds. Get some training montage shit of him prepping for a boxing match "for real". It's garbage I know, but you can sell it. The only reason it doesn't happen is if Conor chooses pride over cash.

You telling me they can't sell this garbage to some mf's?

Also, Money ain't turning down that shit!

I seriously think Conor could probably get one more payday from a boxing fight against someone else that will easily eclipse whatever he would make in UFC. All the causals think he looked so impressive in this fight anyway.

Get one more big payday and then retire for good. Zero reason to go back to UFC.

mr jones

Ethnicity is not a race!
If Floyd can actually get $100m guaranteed plus PPV again, there will be a rematch.

But I doubt it.

Naw.

We know how Conor fights. HE HAS NO CHANCE AGAINST THE BEST DEFENSIVE FIGHTER IN BOXING. He can't keep going past round 5. Why would someone pay $100 for a rematch of that?

The majority of the money was on Floyd but they may have had to pay out more if Conor won.

I think it depended upon some sportsbooks in Vegas
That sigh of relief just felt in Bristol was Las Vegas bookmakers after Mayweather defeated McGregor in the 10th round. Mayweather $$ came in, but some books had multimillion dollar liability on McGregor.

Yes that is what Im telling you. Everybody involved knows this was a one time deal. People aren't paying $100 to see this shit again just because Conor "went some rounds". Get real dude.

A few of those contradict the developing narrative that Conor only lost because he was gassed, not because Floyd was toying with him from round one.

Who? The only reason why this fight got as big as it was because of Mayweather.

The exposure this fight gave Conor, has only made him an even bigger star. The outcome of this fight has done nothing to diminish it.

If he returns to UFC for another fight, even I, a hardcore boxing fan, will want to see how he performs.

Props. I'd like to see more fans with a boxing preference be a better sport. The young athlete did what he could.

You can even give him a can or two to crush before you try an position him against a P4P contender for another payday.

Though one of those cans might end up crushing him

Fair enough. He's a bum as a boxer.

Is anyone with a minimum of $30 mil for being the belle at the dance for 9 rounds before getting TKO'd, really a bum?

Winning for losing is for real.

Conor ought to hang up the gloves, go home and be a family man. Whichever house/manse. Or yatch. Private island. Pick one.

LMAO, Mayweather talking about how he bet 6 figures on himself to go 9 1/2.

Fucking work man.

They also mentioned Conor "shooting his load" like 3 times which was awkward AF.

Yep, I'm 99.9% positive Floyd never fights again. At this point, the only chance he fights again is against Conor 2.0 (a different guy who will guarantee him nine figures and pose zero threat)
