I don't understand Wenger - Vela plays centrally and scores goals. Whenever he comes on in the PL he gets forced wide and is ineffective. He comes on today - scores - and is forced wide within 20 minutes to accomodate Van Persie. Wenger is FAR too rigid in this 4 - 3 - 3 system

I've been saying this since Eduardo was being pushed out wide, effectively killing his career at Arsenal. No one but RVP can play in the middle according to Wenger. His logic is that Robin is a better assist maker but the players on the wing stay out wide rather than making runs into the box and so Robin isn't playing deep at all. The 4-3-3 weakens us I feel

Subbing off Denilson after 20 mins was disrespectful

He does this with everyone besides van Persie, who could actually probably play wide left. I think it's the players faults for not making diagonal runs into the box. Nasri seems to have no problem with this and neither does Arshavin. It's almost as if they don't practice playing out wide, and then he just throws them out wide in the match. This would be solved if we bought an actual wide left player instead of forcing half our team out there. Gervinho and Walcott should solve the problem on the other side of the field, but besides Ryo, we don't have a stated left winger.

Time to get Sneijder 7 tattoos?

Mass Caf suicide if that did happen.

But the amount of rumours and quotes from key people at Inter suggest that something is happening.

Fuck those sources. How many times have they claimed something and ultimately failed?
True, and I usually subscribe to that theory too. But there's just too much evidence to ignore this being a real possibility. And while this very well could be bullshit as well, there's a difference between some random schlub from goal.com or some other trash site, making shit up, and an actual journalist for a Manchester-based paper.

We need rid of Denilson. This asshole vocally came out against us at the end of the season.

He can fuck off and our club will be better for it.

Would be a top signing for United, no doubt. Big fan of Sneijder.

Going to take some decent negotiating from Gill though considering Sneijder would have to take a pay cut to join United (he wants £250,000 a week), after all Rooney is United's highest earner at £220,000 and I read today that there was a clause in his contract stipulating that this must remain the case. So, theoretically, Sneijder would have to lower his wage demands or United would have to substantially raise Rooney's as well as paying Sneijder's.

Tricky situation. I've got no doubt that United would pay the fee though, he's still got a good few years ahead of him at 27 and in terms of modern prices it's not overly extortionate for what you're getting. Can pass, can shoot can link midfield and attack.

What is the purpose of that 'must be top paid player' bullshit that some players demand? A way of asserting your position in the team or something? Fucking ridiculous.

Aye it's the definition of a 'dick move'. Rooney must've ensured it during his hissy fit last season. I'm under the impression that a player should accept what the club feel he's worth rather than demand some ridiculous figure. Why anyone needs £250,000 a week is beyond me.

Well it's £125,000 a week with the 50% tax rate, but yeah I don't understand what you can do with that that you can't do with £70,000 per week.

I don't think getting into wages is a good direction for this thread - it's upsetting beyond belief that some of these guys earn that much money. Or even that some of the "lower" paid players still get 30k+ a week...

Can anyone who watched the U-17 World Cup tell me if this article is true in it's gushing of Samed Yesil? He sounds like a great young player, and Arsenal could definitely use someone like him.

More than £125,000, only everything above £150,000 is taxed at 50%.

No player needs more than £5,000 a week. You can live like a king off of that. But they are always going to get a share of the wealth that football brings to the clubs.

Not quite, but you were right that it's only stuff over £150k that's 50%. I thought it was £100,000.

Here's a breakdown if Rooney gets £250,000 a week, the little reduction he gets is because he's married:

Top actors earn about the same don't they and I think their contribution per year is about on the same level. Of course an actor releases a movie maybe once every 3 years but I think realistically a footballers career is shorter.

Wait they reduce footballers tax free allowance, I know it barely makes a difference but its kind of underhanded.
