I dont care much for football, but this makes me sad. He was a beast, a legend and a really simple, down to earth guy that lived for Benfica and Portugal.
Descansa em paz.

Woke up to this incredibly sad news this morning. This guy was one of the best during a time when the sport had so many great players. The greatest player ever born in Africa. But he was always the most humble by far. You will be missed O Rei.

Reminds me of this gif:

lol. He was always there when the national team played. A true ambassador of the sport.

He also came to Montreal once, to the local Benfica association. I know a dude who's a big fan of the club and a member (sócio) and he chilled with him. Apparently Eusebio got wasted and he had to drive him back to his hotel. Lucky bastard.

I remember that GIF! I was so happy to see him celebrating during the Euros.

One of the greatest sportsmen ever. It's a shame that he doesn't get mentioned as much as other more popular figures (Maradona, Zidane, Beckenbauer, Pele) when discussing GOAT footballers.

I like the crown they placed.

My dad was all teary eyed when he was watching the news on RTP today (at some point they were showing pics of Eusébio with Inception's theme song lol), that's saying a lot since he's a fervent Sportinguista.

That crown they gave him made it pure class.
It's like he is vested in a mantle of scarfs.

Truly a King.
I was teary eyed all day. Fucking Ninjas cutting Onions around me all day.

Forever the King, rest in peace Eusébio.

Its a really sad day. Of course someday this was bound to happen, but it was really sudden, after all Eusébio was "only" 71 years old. At the same time, its heartwarming to see how much everyone loved and respected him, Benfica supporters or not, and the immense coverage from the foreign press.

The guy that placed the Sporting CP jersey is such a troll lol.

Not really.
Everyone from all the football spectrums has placed their jerseys and scarfs there. One of the very first was from Sporting as well, and it was very well applauded by everyone that was there.

There are also a few FC Porto and I even saw a Alverca one!

Reminds me of when Feher died, a pity that only death brings people together away from all the petty rivalry.
