This is what I'm hoping. Mata would love to go back to Spain in a World Cup year and athletico will not be a downgrade from Chelsea. Meanwhile we get Costa and probably allow them to keep Courtois for at least another year.
Courtois can't stay at Atletico after this season. There is a rule in La Liga that a player can't be loaned to a club for more than 3 seasons. Not sure if that is only if they're not a domestic club or what.

Now I just think that you didn't watch it. He came charging out and took the player out. That's a penalty any day of the week.

I posted about 50 posts during the game - I watched it. And a still photo doesn't say much - I did look for a youtube clip or Vine (that's how I found the Lloris diving header) but I couldn't find one. I did watch it at the time, and the various replays showed it from a few angles and it just looked like they were chasing the same ball. For what it's worth, the two commentators also agreed that Webb made the right call; We can agree to disagree about it, but for Moyes to be so ballsy about what was essentially a shit opportunity that Young wasn't going to score anyway and throw a tantrum, especially when it's obviously not as black and white as he was portraying, is very silly. He's essentially complaining because they didn't get a penalty on a technicality at best. It's not like he was incorrectly flagged offside in front of an empty goal or something. They were hardly robbed.

I really hope our first 11 gets a rest/benched for the FA cup. I don't care if we lose, there are a lot of players who are just plain knackered, or under performing massively and deserve to be benched.

I know this is not gonna happen though :(

Pianaar was really poor today. Realy really poor. Don't know what happened to him in the past 3 games or so...

I miss the glory days of Gravesen leading things in midfield.

Good times, good times.

Lol

I was so sad when he left us. For mere £11m to boot. Sad to see him Madrid destroyed his career.

I think my point is clear, not only do I rate him, the footballing world rate him and he costed you £27m. Saying he is rubbish is just quite a myopic statement.

An expensive £27 million panic buy squad player is what he is right now. Of course I hope he comes good, Evra and Vidic were both comparably rubbish in their first 6 months but until he proves it out on the pitch then I won't be changing my mind.

I'm not formulating that opinion just on his time at United, I don't just blindly follow my own team and start watching football two weeks ago. I didn't rate him good enough for United before the transfer and he has done nothing to change that opinion so far.

I still am a fan of Fellaini's. He's an absolute force -- United signed a very nice player who can really make them more dynamic and give them an aerial threat as well. He'll show it once he is healthy.

Stop talking about Fellaini.

Please.

Today hurts so much already.

Agree.

I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt of 1) his injury 2) us just being upside down right now

You will enjoy him once he comes back from injury
Hope you don't go above us in the table

If you are not formulating any opinion for the 2 weeks he have been at Man United, then you would know clubs like Chelsea and Arsenal was after him and pay good money in order to recruit him. 27m might be a bit too much, but at the end of the day he was a player that was rated highly and could get into most top teams first 11.

I honestly don't even know why am I still talking about this. Its your own cognitive dissonance plus a certain stubbornness that makes you somehow see the reality differently. Fellaini is a good player and would improve your midfield quite rightly.

I think this is the last of me.

Champions League qualification has to happen for United, or the Europa League beckons almost certainly.

Just read that if United get to the CoC final with City, they'll qualify for the Europa League even if they lose due to City already being qualified. So even if they miss 5th, they're still in.

They are going to lose a lot of revenue if they happen to miss the CL. I fear this might also have damage on their future prospect in terms of buying players..

That Van Gerwen bloke's bloody good though, isn't he?

Well yeah, he's good. But so far Wright has had a decent tournament as well. No one would have expected Van Gerwen to go on like this. In the semis he smashed two times world champion Lewis 6-0. This is insane.

Feel a bit bad for Wright. Van Gerwen is almost unplayable.

You have to finish though. Wright was incredible on doubles in the semi.

Darts always seems to be on at work and Van Gerwen is always the one I see. :lol

I don't rate him therefore whatever I say is wrong, I get it. Most of this argument has been because I wrote "rubbish" instead of "not good enough" isn't it.

For the sake of my team I absolutely hope you are right though and in 2-3 years time I can look back and say "you know what, your absolutely right sir".

Why would he pick Liverpool over arsenal?

The only reasons I can think for Mata personally is less competition for his place. Displacing Coutinho or Henderson from the centre is a hell of a lot easier than shifting Ozil.

That being said, I can't for the life of me see him staying in the PL.

Mata feeding through balls to Suarez is too much for mortal eyes anyway.

Ok, let me try:

ST: Suarez (Sturridge)
LW: Coutinho (Sterling/Ibe)
CAM: Mata (Coutinho, Henderson)
RW: Salah (Sterling/Henderson)

Rooney may miss games

David Moyes has said that Wayne Rooney’s groin injury could force the striker out of action despite his full 90 minutes in the defeat to Tottenham on New Year’s Day.

Rooney’s participation had been in some doubt ahead of the Reds’ first game of 2014, following his absence from the win over Norwich on 28 December. The manager had said Rooney would be assessed in the hours leading up to kick against Spurs, but the 28-year-old made the starting line-up and also completed the entire match at Old Trafford.

With United back in action on Sunday when Swansea City visit for the third round of the FA Cup, and with just over 48 hours after that to the first leg of the Capital One Cup semi-final at Sunderland, the manager admits he will need to manage Rooney’s injury situation and the needs of the team carefully.

“The plan was to play Wayne for 90 minutes, but he has a bit of a groin injury,” said Moyes. “The longer it went on, we had to try to get more attacking players on the pitch to try and find more ways to score. If I could (rest Rooney) I would, but the games are coming thick and fast. He has missed a game with his groin and he may well miss some more coming up.”

Robin van Persie was absent for the Spurs game due to a thigh problem that has kept him out of action for three weeks, and when asked whether the Dutch international would be available for next Sunday, Moyes responded: “I’m not sure yet.”

Sigh....

So annoying. Terrible start to 2014 and it just highlights wtf has been wrong with the team for years. In all honesty though I think Moyes strategy to start the match was excellent.

But, Evra. Smalling. Young.

LB has been the focus, but if we really do have no plans to use Fabio, then RB badly needs a signing.

Smalling can't do it. Valencia can't do it. Jones can barely do it but, in any case, we can't add another position to his repertoire for the hell of it.
