Just wondering, do guys flop in football like they do in basketball? Or are guys actually getting hurt when they're cut under?

Hall of fame (shame):

We get one decision and suddenly the refs are all biased towards us. Get a fucking grip, people.

When the non-call is a penalty in the 90th minute of a 1-0 game.. then "one decision" is a little bit of a misnomer. The guy was pushed down from behind in the box -- it was a penalty.

Ugh, so tense...really need to sort out the final ball to prevent this crap. That said, 3 points on the table, all I could ask for.

Also, definite pen for me, regardless of how easy he flopped to the ground. You can't make contact like that inside the box, it's giving the ref every excuse to give it. Lucky decision to get, and I'll admit that without hesitation.

There's obviously lots of flopping and diving. But I actually suspect players are in pain a little more than we cynics (myself included) often think -- especially when it's cold. Kind of like when you accidentally kick something around the house, and you think, "Oh my God. My toe is broken. Oh man, that hurts. Oh jeez... Hey, it's getting better. Uh, guess I'm fine." That's why they get taken off looking half-dead, and then are back running full speed within minutes.

As bad as football is for flopping, I think basketball is worse, these days. It's become epidemic, because the refs are so bad it distinguishing between the real and the fake.
I know this is the football thread but I just thought I'd share.

That was a disappointing end to the game but it was definitely enjoyable.

sloppy performance but a well ground out result.

i think it was a clear penalty. everyone is going to cry about it for weeks though which will suck.

Only united fans defending the decision. Not even suprised.

Even Neville said it was a pen.

What? Most United fans are saying it was a penalty. But calling it fixed is stupid. United has gotten more bad calls against them this season than for.

I believe that a team doesn't spend 53 million pounds unless they think the guy they're purchasing is absolutely at a world class level and better than almost every other player in the world. There is a certain threshold where the price DOES equal the talent. That's all irrelevant though, all one has to do is watch Neymar play. His ball skills are unparalleled at his age.

To some extent, you're right. But you have to consider that some players are overpriced because of their nationality. English and Brazilians are probably the best examples. I'm sure there would be about the same figures if Götze was Brazilian.

If some team spend 53 million on a youngster unproven player is because they're stupid and like to waste money like Man City, Real Madrid. You can invest all that money in "building" a team of amazing talented young players on your youth system.

Robinho to Man City fee was 42.5m, btw. I would pay 50m for Messi and nobody else
well, maybe Krasic.

I'm saying it probably should have been a penalty, but Murphy went down so easily. There's no conspiracy, people just don't bring up the decisions United don't get.

This league is fixed.
Yep the Penalty Newcastle got against Man United was never a penalty and Trollotelli should have been sent off for stamping on Scott Parkers head but instead didn't even get booked and 10 minutes later won and scored the match winning penalty. This league is fixed.

That was defo a pen, my heart sunk because I thought for sure the ref was gonna blow. Lucky escape there. Evra made some awful errors and needs to be dropped imo, he hasn't played well for ages.

There are bad calls made all over the league, people just focus on the ones which benefit the teams they don't like.

I never said it was fixed. Just think the ref got it very wrong.

My bad for lumping you all together.

I completely agree. Let's not be one-eyed, gentlemen.
