And just like that Rodgers became the betting companies' favorite to take over at Anfield.

Hope this will be done and dusted this week, time is ticking, quite a few clubs already made their first signings. Rodgers is fine I guess, though I think he would struggle more with Liverpool squad than Lambert or Martinez because of his philosophy.

Also hoped he would sign Sigurdsson if he joined Liverpool but that won't happen now.

Can't believe no one tried to derail Kagawa to United, his mind must have been set on them from the start since the whole deal is cheap enough for a player like him.

That's pretty amazing that the three teams most damaged by injuries all finished in the top 4. Squad depth really is crucial.

No surprise that City have the least, they can afford the best medical staff/facilities.

All things considered, United put up quite a fight even when mired with injuries.

I know it´s a mute point, but i wonder if they would have won (City) if United had been at full strength for most of the season.

Anyways, must be hard for Ferguson to be the frugal one in Manchester, after years of being able to outspend everyone else in England.

Woodwork: Liverpool set a new Premier League record by hitting the frame of the goal on thirty-three occasions, more than any side has managed since records began in August 2000. The Reds struck the woodwork in exactly half of their league games, and found it more than once in ten matches. According to Opta, if all woodwork strikes in the Premier League were goals, then Liverpool would have finished fourth.

If ever a single match summed up Liverpool’s fascination with the woodwork it was the 1-1 draw at Anfield with Aston Villa; the Reds hit the frame four times whilst Villa only had four shots in total!

On a personal level, Luis Suárez found the woodwork eight times; bear in mind, this means that the Uruguayan hit the frame more than two entire teams (Stoke and Norwich) did on his own. His figure of eight was more than any player had previously managed, though Robin van Persie later finished on ten woodwork hits to take the unwanted record. Having scored nineteen more goals though, the Dutchman is probably less concerned about this than Suárez is.

Refereeing: According to the independent website Debatable Decisions, Liverpool had twenty-one debatable calls by referees go against them (more than any other side, though Arsenal suffered more overall as they had fewer go in their favour than the Reds). These decisions cost Liverpool eleven points; not enough to make up the shortfall on fourth place in the league, but another indication that many narrow margins went against them this season.

Injuries: The website PhysioRoom stated that Liverpool suffered fewer injuries than any other Premier League team this season. Unfortunately for the Reds though, one of the injuries was a season-ending anterior cruciate ligament injury to last season’s Player Of The Year, Lucas Leiva. I’m sure all Liverpool fans would trade that one injury for a few more minor knocks to less important squad players if they could.

Penalties: Liverpool only scored a scarcely credible one of the six penalties that they were awarded in the league this season. To give that some context, the Reds only missed eight penalties in total in the previous nine seasons of Premier League football. On a division wide basis, 79.2% of penalties have been scored in the previous ten seasons, yet Liverpool missed 83.3% of theirs this season. Remarkably, this season’s Reds’ squad account for 2.78% of all missed penalties in the previous ten years, a frightening and frustrating waste of free shots at goal.

From the 75th minute of the match against Queens Park Rangers at Loftus Road, to the 11th minute of the 1-1 draw with Aston Villa at Anfield, Liverpool’s opponents scored eight goals from nine shots on target; a remarkable conversion rate of 89%.

United's desire to win is what kept them competing. Also the players faith in each other to step up when needed. It should be applauded really.

It seems that City are gutting the Etihad's hospitality areas over the summer and implementing some new stuff.

The Mancunian suite is getting revamped to, with ideas connecting the club to the cities rich musical heritage.

That's why we couldn't afford Hazard's wages.

Should probably not trust the 7-11 security cameras quite so much
These new facilities will put City on the bleeding edge of beer and nut consumption for decades!

Jesus Christ at that fucking marketing post.

Atletico Madrid have agreed to sign Turkey midfielder Emre Belozoglu from Fenerbahce on a free transfer, the La Liga club said on Tuesday.
The 31-year-old, who also had stints at Inter Milan, Newcastle and Galatasaray, will sign a two-year deal later this week subject to a medical, Atletico said on their website (www.clubatleticodemadrid.com).
It will be their second signing of the close season after the Europa League winners said on Monday they had agreed a deal with Porto forward Cristian Rodriguez, a Uruguay international.
"Emre has everything he needs to triumph at Atletico," the player's compatriot and new team mate Arda Turan said. "He has shown personality in taking the reins at major clubs and his experience can help us a great deal in key games."

I wonder if the have one of those nudie photos with the pork scratchings and Hula Hoops over the jubblies.

Next PR stunt: Tevez to feature in Playgirl

City could win the CL with their squad. They just need a bit more grit and experience.

I hate the idea that history doesnt matter if you're under 30. So what metric should someone decide they like a team? Because they bought all the best players and have a "glamorous" manager? Everyone should just be a glory hunter eh?

People in jobs in general are looking for the most money and the best chance at recognition (this could be promotions in the real world or playing time and awards in football). I picked 30 as an arbitrary age because someone that age has learned to respect the game more by playing at that level for a long time. A younger guy who isnt factoring in national pride is more worried about what have you done for me lately.

Everyone is a "glory hunter" when it comes to their job by the way.

Further to media reports on Tuesday morning, the club can confirm that talks are taking place regarding investment for the long-term future.

The club has always publicly stated that it would welcome potential investment, but has maintained a belief whereby the quality of the investor is the most important factor in terms of the long-term development of Leeds United.

No further comment will be made at this stag

Leeds statement about talks of a new investor.

Anyone else here who eats Super Noodles and likes to combine random flavours together? I'm currently having BBQ and sweet chilli noodles. Combined the two sauce packs and it's fucking amazing.

That's the point :p

Wait, is that really an intentional thing? I enjoy the game so far, I'm having trouble adjusting to the targeting system in the sense that I don't need to actually target things.

I approve.

How long until you decide you are supporting the USMNT instaed of the EMNT?

Swiss ramble posted this today about Milan's economical situation:

Great, 45 minutes into the day and I'm still not going to get anything done for at least another 45.

http://swissramble.blogspot.se/2012/05/milan-warning-signs.html

"Of course, Milan are not the only leading Italian club to find themselves in this situation. Indeed, in 2010/11 the losses were even higher at Juventus (€95.4 million) and Inter (€86.8 million). The big three contributed 89% (€252 million) of the total Serie A losses of €285 million."

Ouch.

Bad voice acting, average average story but damn it is a fun game when you get the hang of it. Put in 100+ hours into Just Cause 2 just flying, shooting, blowing up stuff, driving, doing stunts, saving vids(I think you can only do this on ps3 not 360), getting trophies etc. lol

Talking about City. Today the FA passed the proposals t changing youth football.

Considering the Etihad Campus is going to be made up of all sorts of football facilities I can see it being pivotal to youth development. UEFA surely won't deny England developing young players.

So City miss out on a very talented player and their number one target. But they are also missing out on a guy who seems to like to dictate where, when and how he plays so good luck to Chelsea on that one.

But I think other Chairman will be getting phone calls ove the next few weeks. City will be out to spend some money and sign some players, maybe even hijack some deals which are said to be as good as done.

Denis Suarez has scored for Spain U19. One to watch for the future.

Random pic of Kompany and Savic from today:

Apparently England training at The Etihad this morning.

A guy who claims to have a degree in maths and 20 years in financial services has studied City's finances and claims they will pass FFP. Of course, some of it is down to predictions because it doesn't really get monitored at the moment but it's a interesting read never the less.

£425 to see City, that's awesome value considering. And there are no bad seats in that stadium.

Randomly going through Aguero's pics on Twitter.

I trust everyone on GAF will be purchasing the new City away shirt.

Ok, someone answer this.

Why is Micah Richards not in that team?

He only missed out the last few games of the season because of injury, when Kompany was injured or suspended he wore the captains armband, he is vice-captain of City.

He better not go to the Olympics, that would be an insult.

Most exciting youngsters at City are:

Wabara (right back and captain)
Rekik (centre back)
Razak (central midfielder)
Suarez (attacking midfielder)
Joan Angel Roman (forward)

As long as we keep them.

City have released the following players:

Gai Assulin
Sean Tse
Ahmed Benali
Owen Hargreaves

You got to give it to City. They have it pretty well figured out. Notice all the big sponsorship deals have come recently when it actually mattered. EA, Nike, Etihad etc.

Notice how most of the dead wood was sent out on loan last season? Are City going to sell them when it counts towards FFP which is this summer right?

City will try and sell big this summer. They've said the strategy now is 2/3 quality signings, not a overhaul on the scale we've seen. The Chairman said that City have a championship winning side now and like any other team they have to add to it, to improve it and kick on to the next level. I expect them to do that.

Best Inside City ever!

So many good Aguero bits especially when they play back the winning goal for him to watch during a interview and he just has a huge grin!

Also when he's in the tunnel after the game and he has a vacant look on his face like 'wtf has just happened'.

Torres should have come to City. We'd have looked after him good!

That's obviously about City. Obviously he can't remember Eastlands before City moved grounds. Deprived is the best word to describe it.

Thing is, The Etihad Campus and the community plans City have are more beneficial than anything the last two governments have offered that area.

Tony Blair wanted to cripple the area with his Super Casino.

If United signed Powell his name would fit quite well with an existing chant.

"this is how it feels to be city. This is how it feels to be small. You sign Phill Jones we sign Kun Aguero"

Swap out Phil Jones for Powell :p and maybe Aguero for Hazard if it comes off.

No surprise that City have the least, they can afford the best medical staff/facilities.

Can't always rely on medical staff alone in order to avoid injuries. A player gets smashed on the field, medical staff can't prevent that. Someone's foot is stuck in the grass as he tries to cut in sharply, blows knee, medical staff can't prevent that.

It obviously will alleviate a lot of potential problems, but United doesn't have the worst med staff in the league.

I'm not surprised to see City were quite fortunate in the injury regard this year. Quite amazing of United to keep up until the end, with all the adversity hitting that team.

Kevin Großkreutz accompanied BVB's U15 to a tournament in Tirol (including a 10 hour bus drive). He also turns up in the youth team's training every now and then and trains with the youth players.

What an awesome guy, fuck the haters :)
