I assume its to keep some semblance of a wage structure at the club; if Welbs is asking for 100k a week (for example) then the club is rightly telling him where to stick it. But if he's asking a normal wage and still being turned away then it is rather worrying - unfortunately we don't know what he or Nani is really after.

Not saying we do have the money; but the club is probably looking at tv and CL money and seeing we dropped 40m+ last year because of where we dropped out of the CL and if we can keep in it this year the money would be well spent.
I'm quite worried about United and wages going forwards.

We still have the lowest wage/turnover ratio in all of Europe's major leagues.

I'm all for financial prudence and we make more money than any other club almost, but that isn't right. The club should be pushing the boat out further on wages and we need to stay competitive. Wages are more important than transfer fees IMO.

Nani is reported to want £140k/week. It sounds crazy but its not really. A few years ago it was but not today. Top players at the top clubs earn 150k+. Nani is one of our best players and he is asking for a just wage. That we're hesitant to give it to him is worrying.

You're right. But isn't it better to sell him now and invest the money early? You won't have many options (not talking about a striker here) available in late August.

The money won't be invested, not in signings anyway. The plan most likely is to have the players we need (by selling dead wood) before the start of the season and deal with major departures seperately. We're probably about a third of the way there. A backup keeper (not difficult), a backup CB, a DM and maybe a winger will come in, and I'm sure we've already got our targets in mind.

Arsenal have been breaking even by selling players (we reported a loss in 2011 when we didn't), so this will be another one to add to the books.

25m for someone in the last year off his contract?Thats laughable.

Wenger is always the first to complain about the state of footballs finances. Such a joke.

Eh? Could you expand on this please? What's wrong for putting up an asking price for our player?

Bob Cass has interviewed SAF. Says Uniteds main targets are Lucas, RVP and Baines. Also says we wont pay more for them than we think they're worth.

Thats us out of the race for all 3.

Who else is even in for Lucas? I imagine Chelsea are out considering Oscar, but City? They normally go for anyone we do

Inter. Although Lucas' father, or maybe it was the Sao Paolo President..can't remember...anyway yeah he basically said Inter are broke and he thinks they're only bidding for him to satisfy their fans.

Which is ironic cos alot of United fans think we do the exact same lol.

Seems we have a good shot at Lucas tbh, I didn't think the story was true at all but it sounds like we're actually making serious bids and having serious discussions.

Just got a letter in the mail that my shirts from footballkitstore.com were seized by customs and are to be destroyed because they're fakes and thus don't have the rights to be sold under the Nike and Adidas brands.

WELL FUCK THAT SHIT GOD DAMNIT

Hope your package is all right PrematureQuiche.

25M is too much for a 29 year old in the last year of his contract. Leaves you with a distinct possibility of seeing him leave for nothing next season.

Maybe, but that's our problem, right? Doesn't really have anything to do with Arsene's opinions on money in football.

I know what you are getting at and I agree with you, at least in part, but using wage/turnover as a metric for a club like MUFC is a little misleading because we have such amazing turnover. I would not want us offering 300K/wk to players as that is very risky - I would worry that we just landed up with a load of mercenaries.

With regards to Nani; 140k/week is a hell of a lot and I think we should keep those wages for our tentpole players (like Rooney). Now if SAF wants Nani to become a player we build the team around then fine, offer him that much, but don't do the same to the next guy that comes along after. I have a lot of respect for Wenger and how he has tried to manage the wage structure whilst remaining competitive; so if we can do similar I would appaud it with the caveat that big wages are available to a player that is extra special.

Hearing about us chasing Lucas, RVP and Baines is good news and we are offering what I would deem acceptable amounts for each.

why in the world is Arsenal so adamant in keeping Van Persie? I really don't understand the logic here...

I don't think we are, we just want to get as much as possible for him and are in a position to do so since we've already signed the player(s) who'll take his spot. He'll obviously go for less than £25m though.

FK Renova or FC Gomel v Liverpool

First leg is away, Gomel won the first leg 2-0 and they were away, so looks like it'll be them we're playing.

Used a credit card as payment method but I sure hope I get a refund. I've already sent an email explaining the situation and asking for a refund. I'll see how it goes.

Letter explicitly states that they checked my package because it was sent from Thailand. They know guys, they know

Russian League starting today.

My Season Predictions:

1. Spartak
2. Zenit
3. CSKA
4. Anzhi
5. Loko
6. Rubin
7. Dinamo

Also, since Danny's recovery is apparently behind schedule we might be trying to get Arshavin back. I support this move mostly because of the lulz he is sure to bring.

Hey! What are the games to watch tonight?

The AVFC reporter for the Birmingham Mail is doing a webchat right now, and I got the first question in. Said he loved what he saw of El Ahmadi, Bannan, and Holman. I am so excited!

Also, he said the Vlaar deal is being held up until one of our defenders leave, and he thinks Collins is more likely than Dunne.

But that is a double edged sword there.
The other clubs know you have already bought the replacement players and so you will be desperate to offload Persie otherwise you will be stuck with a player who you dont want and who doesnt want to play for you.

Welbeck still hasn't signed that new contract and SAF says its difficult to tell where the player stands right now.

Arsenal playing hard ball. Rejected £15m bids from Juventus, City, and United. They want £25m, to which I say they are insane if they expect that for a 29yo who is going to be out of contract in a year. Ibra cost £15.5 to PSG who are not money shy. I think Arsenal would be silly to hold out for much more. £17-18 maybe, but not £25. And we're a foreign club, which surely they would prefer!

There's no way we're paying 30M€ cash for RVP or anyone else for that matter. I reckon 20M€ is as high as Marotta would be willing to go for Robin and maybe a few millions more for someone with a much smaller salary like Jovetic.

This really sucks. :(

I've had two things from Triads and they've both come through ok.

I've read people online have had stuff seized by customs from Triads and they just send another one out to you which you more often than not receive 2nd time around.

I think some countries are more strict about it than others. I know people in Germany are having trouble with their Triads orders.

I'm surprised no one is picking Dempsey for their fantasy teams so far. He's listed as a MF, but if he moves to Liverpool he'll be playing as FW without question. I'm thinking his position in the listing may even change (to FW) if he does move, so I'm putting him in my team now. Always good to keep players who are listed as MF but play in a FW spot in a 4-3-3 team (Silva, Mata, Sinclair, etc.)

Not to mention he got 209 points last year, which is insane, I'm sure you don't need to be told!

Too expensive and I don't expect him to replicate his form. And while I love him as a Fulham player, I won't as a Liverpool player. :p

I ordered once from Triads and I had no problems. It even came in a German package which I found pretty odd.

Hope this all will be sorted out. I'm a bit wary of a replacement though since the letter from customs says that I'm already risking a fine and should not order other counterfeit items again.

But the Fulham attack was built completely around him thats why he managed to score so many. I dont think he will play in the same position at Liverpool that is as a no.10 and am not quite sure whether he will have the same impact out wide. Also for 9.5(?) he is not cheap anymore as he was last season (i got him for 8.2-8.5 last season before he started scoring for fun) and if you can get Mata, Bale, VDV, Hazard for the same price it doesnt really make sense to go for him.

Another pic of the new away kit

I really really really love this kit. I might just buy 1 this year.

Just found out that Ronaldinho's contract is gonna run out in 6 months. What are the chances one of the high profile teams will go in for him? Or maybe Blackburn? :p

Looks pretty meh imo. That collar line...ugh

Man United have not been blessed with good kits this season.

Collar ain't that bad, besides I tend to like the collars that most of Footie-GAF hate(I love the United kit from 2 seasons ago with the polo collar) and the Monochrome United logo is nice.

Sky Sports understands Liverpool are closing in on the signing of Swansea City midfielder Joe Allen.

Reds boss Brendan Rodgers confirmed his interest in Allen earlier this week as he looks to rebuild the squad at Anfield.

As revealed by Sky Sports earlier this week, Liverpool were preparing a bid for Allen and both clubs are thought to be in advanced talks as they look to thrash out a deal

Allen, who is away with Team GB at the Olympics, is thought to be keen on a move to Liverpool to be reunited with Rodgers.

Swansea are reluctant to lose the midfield schemer, but know they will not be able to resist a big-money offer for Allen.

Allen is thought to have a release clause in his contract and Liverpool are believed to be ready to match the £15million fee to land the Wales international.

Swansea are already looking at possible replacements for Allen with Spanish midfielder Michu poised to make the switch to the Liberty Stadium.

Rodgers is keen to get a move for Allen wrapped up as soon as possible as he looks to add the midfielder to the signing of Fabio Borini.

15m is a lot but I don't give a shit. I'd watch Kyoufu suck 15 million dicks to have Joe Allen at Liverpool.

I also really dislike that United kit. When I see that, my first thought is "appeal to Asian fans" :p

This being Sky Sports I'm presuming the actual fee is gonna be £10million or something. I'm not particularly sure that Allen is worth it at either valuation, seems a lot like the Henderson deal - talented young player, sure, but not an area that needs splashing out so much on one lad.
