At the end of the day, if you're over the age of 10 and you're not interested in local football, you can't be forced to take an interest. Especially if you've grown up with a superior 'product'

Andres is so drunk, he's actually coherent

Should probably not trust the 7-11 security cameras quite so much
Lazio drew in the end so nothing has changed in the group. A point between each side.

There was a discussion about it in the standard OT recently. As you might have imagined, it was mostly Americans saying they did not like the concept and everyone else extolling its virtues. As it stands, there is an extensive pyramid here but there is no relegation/promotion system. Sports leagues in the US are different in that they're heavily "socialist." Every team is partially owned by the league and much of the money is shared equally.

MLS (or the NBA, NFL, etc.) have to give permission to a city to become an expansion team (this requires approval from all of the other teams) and then the new team has to pay a large amount of money to join the league. In the MLS' case, it'll take $40 million to become a franchise. Orlando City will have to build a soccer specific stadium as well which would make it more attractive.

As it stands, the team is playing in a large American football stadium called the Citrus Bowl, but they'd like to build a ~20k seater that is similar to LIVESTRONG Park in Kansas City. The team was formed in 2011 after moving from Austin (a new team with the same name as the previous one was re-formed here in Austin.. funny coincidence given my ties to both cities) and won the championship its first year. They won the regular season title (most points) again in their second year but lost in the playoffs for the overall championship.

Miami needs the MLS team over Orlando. Our NASL(second division I guess) team, which would be the best option for expansion has been in the Finals for the NASL back to back years. Decent attendance too considering they play in the SHITTIEST stadium in the greater Miami area.

Anyone else feel like the Europa League has almost overtaken the Champions League in terms of prestige and excitement? I'm tired of watching the same old teams season in, season out. Give me Maribor over Barcelona any day

Agger and Skrtel? We really are taking this seriously. Would have gone for Skrtel-Coates myself, Rodgers out

I have this friend from high school, she was a bit fat and had gigantic boobs, and also he's really beautiful. Now she lost all the extra weight but the huge boobs are gone :( I was expecting she to be more thin and with good size boobs but no

Linius is right.

I know people who have season tickets at some clubs but I know other people who don't who I'd say are much more loyal fans. Who will never miss a game, who watch the youth team, who know alot more about the clubs history and heritage, etc.

Not to say location and attendance doesn't count - it's just not the be all and end all.

Got my "Lolerpool" posts ready. Don't let me down now. BTW, Anzhi's resting some players. Makes sense, no need to respect a mid-table EPL team.

Alright, I take back my post earlier, I do hate you tottenham, fucked it all up.

You support a different team than your dad? Was it just a teenage rebellion kinda thing that made you switch? Funny story about the shirt swapping.

Probably mostly, although I honestly really don't remember when I really started liking Copenhagen more than Brøndby, think it might have been me not wanting to support the same club as my brother more than my dad.

He dragged me and my Scottish cousin with him to a Brøndby match too once and the "brøndby club radio" came and asked if they could ask us some questions. We were only pretty small kids at that point but when they asked me some question about Brøndby I said something like "screw Brøndby, I like Copenhagen" and then my cousin went on to do the same when they laughed at me and turned to her, only with Celtic instead of Copenhagen. :lol

Interesting, cheers for the info Meier! Thanks to the economic recession in Ireland, I have a few chums who are regulars now at MLS game's in New York and Canada. I salute the strides taken in developing their national league over the past 2 decades.

Ah the Citrus Bowl, scene of Ireland being pwned by Mexico and the Dutch in the 1994 WC. Fond memories!

Yesil on the bench? He should be starting ffs!

We always keep our young transfers in the reserves for about 3 months after they've signed to let them get acclimatized to Britain before throwing them into the first team. Even Lucas did it.

It looks like they're called the Fort Lauderdale Strikers now (previously Miami FC) Their attendance looks to be about 2/3rd that of Orlando City's despite being technically in a higher designation. I think Orlando is definitely a more attractive expansion city given the fact Miami has more pro teams already and really struggles with attendance in many of their sports.

I think the fact that Miami Fusion folded means that it'll be a very long time before they look at Miami as a destination again.

Oh fuck no. We are playing with Claudemir as an attacking midfielder which never works at all and then fucking Cesar Santin up front, we are doomed.

Miami Fusion didn't fold the MLS did. We had Ray Hudson as manager and were at the top of the table before the league crumbled.

I was so disappointed that we didn't get the 2022 World Cup. It has been far too long and the sport has grown so much here domestically since then -- I think it would have helped further improve the game's growth here as well. I was only a kid at the time but my best friend's dad took him to a match at the Citrus Bowl.. I'm sure it was incredible!

Robbie Keane is doing excellent with the Galaxy. I imagine that is nice to see for the Irish MLS fans.

The standard of Leinster rugby was shit for years. They only got their act together maybe 6 or 7 years ago. Before that they were playing in a little stadium in Donnybrook, in front of crowds of 1500 at most.

That's because Leinster Rugby as the entity we know it now only came into existence in the late 1990's when the IRFU decided to abandon the clubs. The name and team called 'Leinster' might be old, but the provincial club game as we know it now has only been around for what a decade?

Just imagine what kind of support a central Dublin LoI team like St. Pat's, a team who now only ever get 1500-2000, would get If the great Irish sports loving public backed their local teams in the same way they support their English football teams and rugby teams.
