Really?

Name a player who would want to come and be 4th choice who is available at a realistic price? Remember this player would need to be better than Sagna at that position.

If we see Sagna as a 4th choice CB now then we need a new RB who can displace Jenkinson or cover for him if he's injured.

I don't like the idea of having a smaller squad but have lots of versatile players to cover for each other. All it takes is a few injuries to your most versatile players and it all collapses on its head.

For example, Wenger saw Ox as covering for 2 positions (the wings and CM). He gets injured and suddenly we are not just short in one area of the field but both.

If Sagna was to get injured then suddenly we look very short at CB (with Verms being out for a while) AND at RB where only Jenkinson is competent.

Podolski gets injured and suddenly we are not only short on the LW but also upfront as Wenger saw him as a striker as well.

A club of our stature should not just have 16 squad players all of whom are utility players. You should have 16-20 specialists who know their positions/roles inside-out and then 1 or 2 versatile utility players who can cover for a number of players in the event of an injury crisis or for squad rotation purposes.

Its like Wenger wants as small a squad possible where everyone is a utility player. The problem is that since everyone is covering for each others positions the more versatile players end up with more minutes in total. This means more injuries to those individuals because they become more fatigued than anyone else. Players like Podolski/Sagna should not be having to play 90-odd minutes 3 times a week in different positions.

Its madness and we are already seeing that it will cause chaos if we have a few of the so called versatile super quality players get injuries.

Mertesacker and Kos have a pretty good injury record. Vermaelen is coming back now, Flamini can cover both positions. You can only have 25 players in a squad.

CB is not anywhere near our biggest issue. Goal keeper for example after Szczesny we have injury prone Flappy and then no one. Much bigger issue than CB.

On the wing you have Podolski who is okay there, but injured for a prolonged period of time and then Cazorla as a makeshift there. Big issue and that is not even starting on bloody Giroud.
Oh yes, we're completely on agreement with that point. CB is well down the pecking order at the moment, infuriatingly. I think the problem with most of those weak spots is that Wenger doesn't see them that way.

I would bet a large sum of money that he has no interest in getting a GK in. When he talks about "2-3 players in", I think he really means it.

In the ideal world I would agree but in our current situation I don't. CB can wait, address it in January if we get a shit run of injuries. GK, Wing and striker have to be priority.

Giroud can't play every week for 90 minutes.

I agree on those priorities. And, frankly, all but striker should be pretty feasible to get in before the window closes. I dunno if Di Maria is pipe dream material but I rate him and surely he might be willing to leave if Bale comes in?

Being beholden to Daniel Levy for a transfer to happen irks me.

So Bruma is going to Gala for 12 million euros? LF or any turkish soccer followers can confirm this?

If so, what a fucking waste. This kid had the potential to be the next Figo or Ronaldo and he blew it by being an arrogant cunt with an arrogant agent and a terrible lawyer. Hopefully he continues to grow in Turkey because we need that talent in the Portuguese NT but tbh, this smells like Quaresma 2.0 to me.

In other news, HOLY SHIT WE SOLD A PLAYER FOR MORE THAN 5 MILLION EUROS!

Txiki quotes from the Telegraph

The most important thing was to change the environment of Carrington. Now the atmosphere is very good. There’s a lot of confidence. This kind of manager gives confidence to the players & we are recovering the confidence of those who were really down last season.

You can talk about his style, his experience in the CL & his background is really good. There’s more width and full-backs get forward. We are very happy with him [Joe Hart]. All of us know we have the best keeper of England, and one of the best keepers in the world.
We are trying to improve this line [defence]. We have a couple of days to try to do something.

He truly is based. We are blessed to have him.

Can Real start fucking with Spurs now seeing as they've seemingly been spending the Bale money already? I mean they've dragged it out for weeks, won't hurt

I think Kaka will cost around 10-15 milions € and probably around 4-6 milions in wages (maybe even 3 milions if Kakà is kind)

Kaka wants to leave now? That´s awesome, but why has he waited until August 29 to say that? Cunt.

And this quote is just infuriating.

My father is speaking with Real Madrid to find a way out, we can only hope for a solution before this next Monday.

Quick translation; No club is stupid enough to pay me all 10M of my salary,so please Florentino, compensate the difference and I will happily leave this amazing club.

It seems that Kaka thinks we are Disney world or a charitable organization. What an ungrateful and useless bastard. Fuck off, seriously.

Considering how difficult it is for a foreign entrepreneur to buy an italian club, your best hope would be their retirement

I've given them the benefit of the doubt so many times . . . I STILL think they will come through with a couple of quality players this summer . . . but the whole Matri thing is just so embarrassing, it shows they haven't got a clue. We could have signed Christian Eriksen, or two Hondas for that money. But instead we spend it on a third-choice striker. Shameful piece of business.

So I don't know if anyone else has mentioned it, but we're going to need another thread in under 10 pages, which means a new title and someone to make it.

suggestions?

Hang on, Arsenal fear Wenger won't spend any money, or Arsenal fans?
Major pressure from within the club.

The board, basically. It says a large sum of money has been made available to him (which is completely true), and that he has been scared off a large number of targets due to their price tag. No deals are anywhere near close at the moment. Nor are any of the targets looking achievable.

There are three days left in the window.
