Would rather watch any other Bond film again than that one, it thinks it is better than it is. The dialogue is shocking, the plot a complete farce, the villain the worst I have seen of almost any movie... I mean he is proper shit. The bit where the super smart computer genius 'Q' plugs in a laptop recovered from the villain into their network... I mean wow. Or the planting bombs ahead of time for his getaway, c'mon. Then the ending....

Nah, that film was gash. Pretty much hit every point I hate about certain types of films even if the production values were better than others.

Apart from Casino Royale I'd absolutely agree. Bond movies are usually like watching the same bad action movie over and over again, taking place in a different locale.

Casino Royale was great in that they started all over and thought about giving him a character arc and tried not to shoe horn gadgets and lots of vehicles into every action scene. There was tension and build up leading in to action scenes, rather than action for action's sake.

Then they made Quantum of Solace and Skyfall which was the process of throwing all of that in the bin and saying hey lets just make the old Bond movies but with Daniel Craig.

2006 was a magical year for film. Children of Men, Casino Royale, Pan's Labyrinth, Little Miss Sunshine, The Lives of Others, The Departed, etc. and more. Only bested by 2007 in the last decade IMO.
