LvG doesn't trust our central defenders.

Can't say I blame him either. But with the players we have at our disposal we really should be doing so much better. Build up play is too slow.

we look worse with 3 Cbs then 2 lol. build up play is terrible because we are relying on the wingbacks to build it. Valencia and Young would much rather pass it backwards then take on a man or go forwards. We have to build inside and then play the ball out rather then start outside and play it in. We have the players to actually work a nice controlling and building midfield game, it's just LVG has been too stubborn to drop players. If he wants to play Rooney fine but it's gotta be behind the striker or as a striker. Get Falcao out there. Then use Herrera, Blind, Carrick in midfield. Those are our best options.

First time he has a fully fit squad to pick a team from and he plays 3-5-2 which saw us struggle against fucking Yeovil until he changed it.

AND

Di Maria as a fucking back to goal striker when he just got put into the European team of the year as a CM.

Go back to the diamond, I don't care if we concede goals at least we play football with that formation.

Ordering food, starting Pokemon. Atletico v Barca hurry up please.

To be honest, United deregulated Southampton's play pretty well in the first half. It was a good tactic imo.

Some did. Some didn't.

The Bernabeu can be a very harsh.

It's fucking ridiculous and absolutely shameful. Blame shitrags like Marca and AS for making a big deal out of Bale not passing the ball once and the mindless drones that follow their crap as gospel.

As others in this thread have said, if it had been Ronaldo who tried to shoot instead of passed, no one would be saying fuck all.

And jesus fucking christ, making a pass those two times wasn't exactly easy business. And the fucking goldfishes in the Bernabeu apparently forgot Bale's contribution to the first goal and his stunning free kick goal that same match. I wish I could set fire to every person who booed Bale's ASSHOLE.

I wonder why he goes with 5-3-2 against Sotton at home. The only reason we did that in the world cup is because we had a mediocre squad and had to compensate for our defence. That doesn't really go for United I'd say.
Eh United's defence is shoddy, no communication at all. That's why you see them losing the ball often when under pressure.

I think that both coaches had perfect defensive strategies but it was only Koeman that had someone like Tadic on the bench if the game was going towards a 0-0 end result.

Excellent game strategically overal. Not nearly as fun as Lazio's though.

I have read Van Gaal is a very square pegs for square holes kind of manager but clearly he's tinkering with roles and positions and it's not been too successful. There must be some reason he feels 3-5-2 is the way to go because evidence doesn't seem to suggest it is.

Nicest thing I can say about it is that we clearly don't have the personnel to play it correctly.

At worst it's just a very bad formation for English football.

I really hope Theo can sort himself out as his game time will only decrease if he keeps missing easy chances. He should have scored against Hull and Stoke.

That Oliver Kay tweet is even better when you realise the amount of money United have spent, and the calibre of players they've brought in.

Their trajectory can't match ours. Five points is nothing.

Brendan's coming with Pipita under his arm.

Jajajajajaja

The team cost £270m today. TWO HUNDRED AND SEVENTY MILLION!

Can City even field a team of that value?! Srsly.

Blind is no CB, ditch Shaw. Or have him as DM to pass the ball around. But not as CB.

Thats what I've been saying. Play Blind and Carrick as a midfield pair. They will protect the back line much more then roling with a 3rd CB and just Carrick in midfield.

Don't really think personel is the main issue.

You had enough on the pitch to win comfortably today.

No, nor do I - for the most part anyway.

Absolutely need a new CB because the ones we do have are all fucking morons.

Rafael needs to play, Shaw too, and both in their favoured positions. So does ADM, where he can get the ball facing forward and not with his back to goal.

There's a lot wrong with our approach to football matches at the moment.

I think Bony is very good, but it's funny that City desperately need English players but aren't signing any and are letting Milner go.
Theoretical: If we have to sell Lucas and Balotelli/Borini to buy Higuain, is that acceptable?

Would leave us massively short at DM, but I'd be much happier with our striking options.

But, there's no guarantee that Higuain would adapt. Part of me thinks that Higuain and Sturridge may be too single-minded to play well together, then I remember that Suarez was often a selfish fuck as well, but they made it work
Would be delighted if that happened. Doubt it though.

Goes to show how well Moyes did. What a manager, Gaal is a mug.

As much as we joke, but Moyes would have got the likes of Kroos and Fabregas if he was backed with money. The balance of the team would be a lot better.

And no shots on target, at home? Come on.

Honestly, Uniteds position is sooo inflated by the fact the league is absolutely dire right now.

Exactly. It's disgusting to see, and pretty sad.

Agüero alone is worth that. <3

Aren't you buying a fourth choice striker for 35m too?

Aguero is worth that! Bony is costing £28m according to the BBC. Expensive :/

Dan, you fielded 100 million worth of strikers in Amsterdam and still couldn't win. Please go sit back down.

Remind me again, how many times this season have Manchester United been able to field that £270m team due to injuries?

Hart - £600k

Zabaleta - £6.4m
Kompany - £6m
Mangala - £32m
Clichy - £7m

Yaya - £24m
Fernandinho - £30m
Nasri - £24m
Silva - £24m

Aguero - £38m
Bony - £28m

£220m. Feel free to try and build a £270m City team.

If Milner does leave, it won't be due to a lack of trying by City.

Txiki is working his nuts off trying to get Milner to extend. He's a coaches dream really isn't he, plays anywhere, always gives his best, doesn't complain.
But as ever, City are damned if they do damned if they don't. If we keep him it will be "LOL! Milner paid £xx to sit on the bench." If he goes it will be "LOL! City need English players and they've let one go."
If Milner leaves, it's purely for footballing reasons, because he wants to play. Quite refreshing really.
