Impossible to say for me without knowing what Nintendo is gonna bring to the Switch 2. It's a promising year for sure though. Metroid Prime 4 alone is one I've been waiting a long time for, if we get Hollow Knight Silksong this year too...

I think there are some exciting games projected to drop this year, will they deliver? Unsure. But hopefully they do! I'm definitely not a pessimist about things, but it's so hard to get blindly excited too after the quality of some bigger titles over the past few years.

I've got a lot of concerns about MH Wilds for now, but I'm still pretty hyped for it. I read a few dev interviews that said the betas aren't really how the final game will be regarding a few key points I didn't like, so I'm holding them to it. (Monsters always showing on the map/hitstun issues/etc)
Xenoblade remaster is gonna be fun, Other than that I'll be taking a "wait and see" before I buy anything else that comes out. I really want Expedition 33 to be good, but we'll see.

They are - when done right - massively different. Battlefield has moved more towards the twitch shooter style of CoD as time has gone on, but at its best Battlefield is a true team game - where you could be the best player on your team without ever killing an enemy.

Since I am not the fastest player I just checked this years release schedule to see if I have time to finish the new Kingdom Come before the next new release.
I came to June and was like… ok, there is more than enough time… and stopped looking. 2025 is gearing up to be the worst year in gaming for me.

How hard is it to build one of those truly nice VR sim setups OP? I keep thinking I'd love to build or buy one some day, but when I check prices on Facebook marketplace they're always at least a grand for a quality one. Is it cheaper to build yourself one? How much space does it take up? Does it really feel like real driving? I love arcade racing games, would love to set up something like that at home, but I always wonder if it really emulates the act of driving well.

CIV 7 reviews say AI is even worse than in CIV 6

Battlefield is big team games, you're a cog in a machine working together. Call of Duty is almost all about individual performance, which in my opinion has been ruined by the heavy algorithms in the matchmaking.
You pick a class e.g. medic and you rack up points. Each class helps push the objective, for example in Rush you only have a limited number of respawns as a team (tickets). Reviving someone as a medic refunds that ticket. Call of Duty doesn't have these mechanics.
Battlefield historically also has a big focus on vehicles and destructible environments.

Tempest Rising - the latest demo reignited my love for old school RTS, can't wait for it to come out in April!

GTAVI - I have been playing GTA games since the original's demo on the PS1, just beat GTAIII (remastered) this weekend, hopefully VI makes 2025 release.
And this coming from someone who rarely buys anything day 1, I already bought ACE, the rest will follow.
