Maybe this was already pointed out, but according to the spoilers, they don't bust Ghosts anymore but destroy them. So how does this make sense at all? That would even make the title obsolete.

I think they do both because they have several ghost traps.

I want to believe that they're taking a page from the IDW comics and eventually they'll reveal why blasting a ghost VS busting it is a bad idea. I know that's probably extremely unlikely but I can dream, here, at the precipice of release.

Well according to the review they first trap, because the proton packs are holding them only, but later completely ignore that and just destroy them.

It's not like you have to trap every ghost, but in the original they never did that, even when they crossed streams they just closed the portal and in the second movie they just kept Vigo from entering the mortal plain again.

But I get it, just nerd talk and of course it is not that important at all.

All this Busting talk got me in the mood to draw Slimer. Based on that life size statue coming out.

The IDW comics actually delve into the science of why it's important and IMO it's super cool. It leads to one of the most epic Ghostbusters showdowns of all time. A guy steals the Proton Pack schematics and starts his own rival company, but they blast ghosts instead of busting them. But since you can't actually destroy matter, all that energy just disperses... or so they think.

It's so fucking cool. The IDW series is in my Top 3 comics of all time.

That was a cool storyline. The IDW is book is written so well. The writer really has a finger on all the characterization of the main ghostbusters. When I read Ray, Egon, etc, I imagine it in their voice. He has the dialogue down pat.

This plot is actually from an episode of "Real Ghostbusters".
Can't remember the name, though.

I agree, it is super cool.

EDIT: Found it!

Episode is called Robo-Buster

In Robo-Buster, Janine falls head-over-heels for a wealthy industrialist who uses her friendship to gain access to the Ghostbusters' files, from which he creates the Robo-Buster X-1! Now, the manufacturer claims that Robo-Buster doesn't merely contain spirits... it actually destroys them!

That is EXACTLY why I love it so much. The guy really, really gets it.

Oh shit! I gotta rewatch that O:

Well shit, can anyone recommend and Ghostbusters graphic novels to pick up?

Collection One: Total Containment

Collection Two: Mass Hysteria

That's the entire run, but they just finished this (they brought it back from fan demand I believe)

Collection Three: Ghostbusters International

Hey, here's a review with the same level of credibility as the one that went viral this morning except this one isn't going viral and has a ton of dislikes. The only difference is that it's extremely positive. Weird, huh?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZLNCwoOQFdo&feature=youtu.be

To be fair, this guy has like 300 something subs and the vid under the 200 views. That other dude (who I am not familiar with either) has over half a million subs (just checked). That is a massive difference right there.

I'll gladly take a fun Ghosbusters film over a bad one, but so far I have little faith to be honest. But that is purely based on the promotion material thus far.

Pie and Beans

Look for me on the local news, I'll be the guy arrested for trying to burn down a Nintendo exec's house.
Tumbling down, tumbling down..

The walk back for some is going to be nigh impossible. Sometimes you should be afraid of certain beds.

I'm not interested in this, as I'm getting tired of directors who seems to have no respect for the original material.

Not in the sense that this remake will make the original bad, but because this seems like any other type of blockbuster released nowadays.

Ghostbusters is a smart, acerbic, witty, dry masterpiece compared to most blockbusters nowadays, and therefore it just saddens me that Feig just takes the franchise, and doesn't seem to add anything new to the market.

We don't have movies like Ghostbusters anymore, so why take the franchise and not utilize its potential?

If Ghostbusters was like every other shitty blockbuster the year it was released, it wouldn't be as revered as.

The talk is so contentious on both sides and has been for months, I'm not going to take anyone's word for it. I'll be seeing it as soon as I can.

paid shill for sure.

Guy still has the sticker on his brand new Sony TV!

Joking, but seriously, why do people leave stickers on their TVs after any length of time. Always see this at friends places. I can understand if you miss the plastic film. The energy label or 1080p stickers, though?

I've noticed this with laptops.. take those dirty stickers off!

I want to hear Kristian Harloff's (Collider/Schmoesknow) review. He has absolutely hated all of the marketing thus far, but he's usually quite fair in final judgement. I find my opinion lines up with his most of the time.

I hope the movie isn't TOO awful as I've already made the commitment to buy every Lego Dimensions level pack and well, this one sure isn't shaping up too great.

*quiet sigh*

So the misogynists were right after all?

This is the thing that is going to annoy me to no end. If the movie is bad it deserves the Reviews/Box Office numbers and should be panned hard, but the shit flinging *misogynists* are going to do when it comes out is going to be disappointing, does no one favors.

To be fair, the dude does come off as a little...too excited.

He does, but maybe he really did just like it that much. Positive opinions about the movie are going to be scrutinized to hell and back though regardless. Enemies will be made this week.

It's like, you had the other review that was super negative, so of course that dude is obviously right and confirms suspicions :p

Here's an early review. Sounds awful, stereotypical, sexist, bad effects, proton pack killing ghosts instead of containing it, with more in common with the cartoons than the movies.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u-Pvk70Gx6c

ENDING SPOILERS:
They kill the final boss by shooting the proton packs at his dick. Yeah...

It was always blatantly obvious that this movie was more like the cartoon then the movies.

McKinnon's hair is straight up tribute to Egon'a cartoon hair.

So maybe this is what happened. Just my theory:

- Paul Feig wanted his all man are morons subplot in there. Which can be pretty funny, look at Spy, but does not work with Ghostbusters. Especially because of the audience. Maybe Feig was the wrong director for this project, like Wes Anderson is for a historical drama or David Fincher for a comedy or J.J. Abrams for anything.

- While the main cast are good actors and funny comedians, they are not green screen actors and usually need physical feedback to make their roles funny or believable. You have to have imagination and a certain acting style to be good during green screen sequences. Either it works great like anything with Andy Serkis or terrible like the lightsaber dance or Adam Sandler in Pixels. That could also be the reason why Chris Hemsworth actually may stand out, because he did so much special effect works in the Marvel movies.

- Sony has focus tested their special effects for the Amazing Spiderman with the young audience. They wanted this bright CG style like a neon light show. But it does not work for this movie, because Ghostbusters actually had pretty grim style and again with the fans of the original movie, it will just not work.

So a lot of things came together and while some of the stuff in itself would not have that much impact, it may not work as a movie. You have talented actresses, but in a setting which they can not shine, a director with a certain style, which is not working for the movie especially a reboot of such an important franchise and a studio, which was producing this movie for the wrong audience.

I could be wrong, but I have this strange feeling. But I could also be just a Principal Skinner and maybe I am really not getting it anymore.

I'm not sure how you do an original Ghostbusters film anymore. Maybe it had to be done by Jason Reitman.

Why wait when you can bash J.J. Abrams right now? Life's too short for that shit.

I kinda like that people are taking the one review of the guy who seemingly complained of it being a sexist against men movie as gospel but anyone who likes it well early buzz is always bs

I mean who knows either way but still lol.

It's human nature. We'll always side with confirmation of suspicion.

I'm not siding with shit until I watch it.
