Former Concord dev responding to their game flopping: "why would I care about a bunch of talentless freaks hating on it"

They blatantly ripped-off Overwatch and couldn't even manage to match it, let alone improve on it. If there's any "talentless freaks" here it's clearly them.

I don't think they're particularly talentless, but clearly many bad decisions went in to this product. Also weird to scream out "talentless freaks" to the void of millions with incredibly talented people of all types.

That's what happens when we say things like "games are art".
Some of them think they are now artists and it is enough for them to like their own creations even if they don't bring in any money.

Consumer products need to make financial sense first and foremost, even more if they want to keep their jobs. They don't see it like that, they will blame everyone else and will never accept that they made something people won't buy.

They will blame capitalism and their CEO with the 50 cars, they will unionize (good for them) but so far i haven't seen them grouping together, taking loans and starting their own studios to take the risk with their own money and push their vision.
They will hide in existing studios and ruin them with their ideas.

Also: Sony should make sure that there's no communication to be made by devs. Only by the PR department. So that childish shit like this doesn't happen. Attacking retards on Twitter by being a retard yourself doesn't help the game whatsoever.
 
I'm not the type of person who thinks money is the most important thing in the world like a lot of businesses do. The greed that goes on with the higher ups kinda drives me nuts sometimes...but the fact of the matter is games are a business that need to make money. You can't just act like you don't care that you 8 year development game flopping and not making back the millions it cost to create doesn't matter.

What is with hollywood and video game developers blaming the fans for not being buying their products. Maybe listen to your audience, your demographic, and if something doesn't sell., There are reasons it didn't sell. Hey you like and play your own game great, but if it flops, you'll be out of a job. So if we subtract the company employees playing the game from the steam counter, it's even worse??

Sick of creators blaming me for my tastes and not buying their shitty products. Read the room, who did you make this game for, yourselves??

The game is a massive pile of shit, even without all the woke shit, Sony will already have plans of shutting this junk down, it will go free to play with the sick people who paid for it getting a sack full of woke cosmetics as compensation then a while after that it will be time to rot in piss for this latest waste of oxygen of a game.

With a flop this big there's zero chance of survival. Hopefully some of the people working on the technical side are saved and moved somewhere. The game is competently made it's just every creative decision was a Trainwreck. It's the execs, producers, designers etc that messed up and guided this project to a completely unappealing end. Programmers, modellers etc just did what they were supposed to.

A thing can be 'labour of love' and still suck. That happens more often than not. I get why they're on massive amounts of copium at the moment, but come on.

Massive amounts of work ≠ a guaranteed hit. But as the dev said, they don't care, so why should we?

I don't have to know how to cook in order to tell if a dish tastes good or not.

But hey, maybe the actual dish is good if you tasted it but unfortunately the way it looks is unappealing so people don't even have the motivation to try.

He did his past employer a major disservice by pouring gas in a fire they're already trying to put out. The people still employed there are probably scared shitless to do anything stupid right now and mostly because of management, not because they are smart and think ahead.
