I mean, I wouldn’t really be surprised. Whether you adore Marvel or not, the fact is that in the story, there’s a godlike being, that, lying down, probably would be the size of the island if not a lot more, rapidly on his way.

I’m not exactly thinking the island comes out of this without a scratch, lol.

Smash sounds like maybe negotiations are ongoing? That would be awesome.
All right all right all right. What's your (and Ailynn Ailynn 's) best guesses for Galactus? He's so close now I'm thinking he starts attacking and changing the Island this week. As much as I'm digging the skins, I'm doubtful that Marvel stays the focus next season and I'm thinking his story plays out this season.

I think we have all the clues we need to imagine. He's after the Zero Point. He's a big chungus. There's tons of big chungus fighting equipment everywhere from the helicarrier to the jets. Stark rifted in half the world of Marvel trying to get his lab back for a reason, and also has retrofitted the battle bus. The mutants and Avengers.

My guess is that we're going to be part of an event so crazy it rivals a Marvel movie for sheer spectacle and destruction. If you love a PoI, get your time in now, lol.

I also think we'll probably see the Zero Point for the first time on the new island as it's exposed, similar to how both the mech and monster were trying to get it. I fully expect insane otherworldly shenanigans once it happens.

I haven't always been super on-board with the Marvel thing, but this seems like it's going to be the craziest thing they've ever done, with everything in play. They've said as much, that this would change Fortnite forever, and be like nothing we've seen before.

Do you think we're looking at a crazy few weeks before a new season changes the focus, or that next season is more Marvel once the stage is set? I am not opposed to either. My guess that Marvel winds down this season was based on licensing questions in my head. But in hindsight I'm sure Epic can afford, and Marvel probably benefits from staying in people's minds despite theaters postponing everything,

I'm really not sure. I saw that quote too about Marvel being a part going forward. I presume it just means that new skins will continue to come, and maybe bits of Marvel will be left in the world. Deadpool was around for two season before this, so Marvel actually has been doing that for a while.

I feel like they'll finish it off this season (and probably definitely with a lot of action in the lead-up, like the meteors in Season 3).

Unless...

Someone is a really big fan of Infinity War, and decides to do a two-part story like that. Which could either be amazing (it'd be fun to have the entire island destroyed or something, and have saving it be the theme of next), or a bit too much of the same thing. I certainly don't want two Marvel battle passes in a row.

Btw, the only thing that I actually know for sure, is that the same character in the Season 3 event is apparently also coming back (actor recorded lines), likely with more answers about whatever that place was, so yeah, this event sounds absolutely nutty.

I think -Arcadia- -Arcadia- stated it perfectly...big changes are on the way, and it'll be a spectacle we won't want to miss! I'm thinking it will be on a scale similar to the kaiju fight and Travis Scott events combined. :messenger_fire:

Anyone else wondering how much longer the existing form of cross play will work for this game. I am not hoping for it to change anytime soon, but can Switch and mobile really keep up with PS5, Series X, etc.?

After spending far too much time looking at the new version, lol, I feel next-gen is just an enhancement on the base game. Much like Switch and mobile just take a few things away visually, next-gen just adds a few things.

As long as it stays like that, I think it’ll be fine.

But yeah, if we ever get a Chapter 3 or something that’s designed from the ground-up for next-gen, I imagine that will change. I also imagine that’s years out, and there will be a Switch 2 by then.

pretty sure Switch players and Mobile players are on their own servers as long as they don't party up with a PC or Xbox/PS player... right? at least it was that way at some point

Doesn't seem to be that way anymore.

ok, weird.
they should implement an option for that, especially on Switch.

Honestly on a high end phone you can easily keep up with the Xbox and PS players if you use a controller, but the Switch version runs so terribly that there's absolutely zero chance to keep up...
that version can't even hold a solid 30fps while the most modern phones can handle it at 90fps or even 120fps

100% agree. I've been seeing what seems to be more and more Mouse and Keyboard users when playing on Switch, and from what I remember the Switch doesn't support that input device. Has been resulting a few frustrating defeats when the last two or three people can build these elaborate structures :(

well that is the least of the problems honestly.
many pro players also play on controller and there are certain structures that can be built faster on controller as well.

controller and Mouse/Keyboard hoth have their pros and cons, the framerate on Switch is the bigger issue IMO.
if you play at sub 30fps against someone running an RTX3080 at 244fps... that's fucked up

Theoretically, the matchmaking should level that out. Even if you do get put up against someone on a 3090 at 500 frames, to compensate, it’ll probably be someone who sucks a bit.

Imo, this is a game that could really benefit from a Switch Pro. Also, getting the gyro in much better shape.

Yup that's it. Would always wake up or run up the stairs as soon as I heard the main theme play. my parents would buy me the action figures and sets from the show. But mostly I had venom stuff and a few spider man figures lol. carnage is basically Marvel's joker, just a grinning psychopath but paired with a symbiote. He's definitely a very disturbing and violent character. Btw the next marvel knock out skin is black widow (the snow suit version) so I guess no venom 😐
I can definitely relate to that excitement you're talking about when the theme starts haha!

I remember having a Spiderman figure which had plenty of articulations for making poses but well, it was definitely a product of its time.

The figures that really hit the peak around that era for me were the Todd McFarlane toys; crazily detailed for the price at the expense of having fewer, but better hidden articulations.

Hah about Carnage being their version of Joker, I remember being told (I didn't double check) that Ironman was Marvel's version of Batman: rich playboy character whose main rise to superhero power is a crapton of money and tech. Though obviously Batman has his martial arts training as well.

Perhaps I'm misremembering but I think there's one more cup after this upcoming Black Widow one? I think Epic said four cups and if you partook in all four you'd get the Nexus glider.

And so far we've had:

1. Daredevil
2. Ghost Rider
3. Black Widow
4. Black Panther/Venom?

Actually thinking about it now, so far none of the 'tourney superheroes' had powers in the game so maybe the fourth character is...... Captain Marvel?

I remember only having one spawn toy when I was young. Actually make that two, I had this spawn figure which had a bunch if bony spikes that you could snap onto his front chest. The second was the clown/violater from the movie. I was so creeped out by it that I told my mom to take it to work with her haha. That is a fair comparison about Iron man, though I would say moon knight is more like batman than Iron man. He's rich, uses crescent moon like weapons like batarangs. And some of his poses on comic book covers just ooze batman material. There is one more marvel knockout cup, but another leaker said that venom's pickaxe was mentioned in the files. To my knowledge there really hasn't been any cosmetics or meshes related to captain Marvel or black Panther found. Just the code name "lunch box" which is a reference to her hiding the tesseract in a lunch box. One code name was called "vertigo" alot of people thought this might of been for vision but it could well be venom. plus from that comic book cover for fortnite you posted last night. It has most if not most of the marvel skins released so far. First was blade, daredevil and lately ghost rider. Only one left is venom which makes him the highlight of the cover along with his name. normally because a characters ability is in the game doesn't mean they won't be released as a skin. We did get silver surfers board and then the skin afterwards. I won't get my hopes up. But I really hope venom is the next marvel skin after Black Widow.

pretty sure skill based matchmaking it turned off in certain modes. I think in 4 player squads for example

No thanks. Some skin addicts might go for this, but I have enough subs between GamePass and TV. No need to add another anchor for something like optional cosmetics.
You dirty dog. I saw the bump and got excited that something new happened today or in past couple days. But all is good. Carry on.

So, some details about the Galactus battle at the end of the season are coming out. None of this is particularly spoilery, but you ought to be able to choose what you want to see beforehand, so I'll spoiler tag anything that might prevent that.

The title: The Devourer of Worlds

Description: Defend the island to save all reality!

At 4 GB, it is apparently the most massive event we've ever had, by far, with a leaker that's seen all the details, describing it as 'so much going on, it's insane'.

Btw, see reputed leaker Lucas7yoshi on Twitter to back up any of this, or any of the usual suspects, but the others might not be as spoiler sensitive.

In terms of size, Galactus is also the biggest character Epic has ever worked on, to the point where they had to work hard on detailing him to compensate for the sheer size. I heard this second hand, it's apparently from a tweet of the art director or something, but looking at the size of him in the leaked BattlePass challenge menu room which will feature a hologram of Galactus, I easily believe it. Lying down, the island looks like it would be half of him.

My all time favorite marvel character. Coming at number one of my favorite marvel character overall. This has to be the most well designed, if not one of the most incredibly designed marvel skin's in fortnite imo. He may be chunky, he may be bulky, but imo thats great and what makes venom one of the most intimidating spider man foes in comic book history. I'm very well overwhelmed with happiness definitely my favorite fornite skin overall.

I got a question for those of you who have been plugged into the game the last 6-12 months...

It sounds like competitive Fortnite may be losing steam in terms of prize pools and viewership lately.

I've personally long felt that competitive focus hurt the game in terms of strategy and engagement variety. The overreliance on building, editing, and shooting to win fights was a poor direction imo.

Do you feel that "casual weapons/items", or weapons that sweats hate, have been making a comeback the last 6 or so months? I know the competitive Fortnite community dislikes the Marvel mythic weapons, but I haven't found them to be OP in regular pub matches.

Feels like it. Feels like a lot less complaining about it too. I remember a time where box destroyers like air raids and junk rifts were absolutely screeched about, yet half the powers this season do that stuff, and I’ve barely heard a squeak.

Frankly, if those players either learned to have fun, or move on, it would be better for the game. Before all this, Fortnite always struck me as the fun shooter. Tons of weaponry, crazy items, innovative strategies, dance-offs — this was the game where people would ride a shopping cart off a cliff with balloons on it, because reasons, that’s why.

Of course it was still competitive, but the sheer speed of how quickly that type of fan moved in, hammered on out-of-balance mechanics like building, and complained out so much fun stuff, really took something away from the game in short order.

It’s been super-fun anyway, because you can’t ruin such a well built game that easily, but yeah, I could do without Auras with laugh it up equipped, cranking 90s and hiding in boxes for 15 minutes before I eliminate them regardless.

With the big fight tomorrow, curious what people’s reviews of this season are, and their expectations for the next involve.

I think I ultimately liked this season. It was built for 90s comic book fans and 2010s Marvel movie zombies (I never said I had to be nice), so I felt a little bit excluded, and a bit like someone bought out ad space for the season, but it was hard to disagree with the cool Tony Stark tech stuff, Upstate New York (which is beautiful), and all these fun powers, as well as mobile PoIs and having your own AI squads.

Plus, it felt like the loot pool chilled out a bit, and became more expansive and fun. Tons of mobility, and rifts always make Fortnite more fun... and give me wonderful Season 5 memories.

A few really awesome skins like Mystique, Thor, and Tesseract Wolverine were a lot of fun too.

I never, ever want a crossover again, unless it’s going to have Fortnite original stuff prominently featured in it, but for something I didn’t want, this is another great season racked up for Chapter 2. You have to give them credit for echoing the original Season 4 superhero season, and doing it far, far better too.

As for next season? I want them to dive hard into the lore, go back to their original stuff, and just surprise me. We’ve been on this island for a while, and while I don’t feel burnt out at all, it’d be fun to do something radically different at this stage. I saw some people speculating about space again, lol? That’s exactly what I mean, though. Something wacky and unexpected.

For this season. Ultimately I loved it and more so than chapter 2 season 1 and 3. Chapter 2 is great because the story and spy theme hit home for me. But for this being a crossover season, and most fortnite players hating it. Its by far my most favorite season and most played. I'm huge comic book nerd, having grown with watching and reading the likes of spiderman, x-men, avengers, fantastic 4 and etc. So getting to play as some very beloved and badass comic book super heroes and villains is a blast. The mythic powers are my least favorites of this season. While I enjoy wielding iron man's gauntlets post avengers endgame ltm again. I wasn't fond of wolverines claws, storms whirlwind, thors lightning strike and etc. It was refreshing to not have mythic weapons this season. But again wasn't a fan of the powers as well. I absolutely love the different poi's. Sentinel graveyard, ant-man's house, black Panther monument, and such. Overall definitely my favorite fortnite season by far.

Sorry if asked and answered but how does one get in on the event? My daughter is asking and I have no idea. I only play when she does.

Show up an hour early
Sit on the menu where your character is just standing there. Maybe make sure your console doesn't go to sleep and disconnect with a controller jiggle every once in a while
Wait for The Destroyer of Worlds mode to show up
Play. You'll be in an infinite match with infinite respawns until everything starts

The earlier you can get in, the better. These events keep getting more and more popular and while Epic keeps boosting server capability, it's not enough.

That was a bit more about me than I would have liked. It was more like a single-player game, than millions of players fighting together. You know what I mean?

Buuuuut

Wow.

-AC/DC
-Death Star Trench Run
-Planet sized Galactus
-Confirmation that it’s all a time loop
-The Zero Point revealed, where I always said it would be (sorry 😋 )
-The End almost happening all over again
-The helicarrier terrifyingly smashed in a single hit
-The heroes being voiced, all being awesome, and helping out
-The Zero Point is now damaged worse than the time it caused the second big bang
-The return of... whatever that office/other reality in Season 2 was. I’m so glad we’re following up on that, finally

This cliffhanger is torturous. I am very thankful we have a countdown this time, haha, and I love that they will actually shut down their online multiplayer game just for story reasons, but I’m not sleeping until I have a resolution. Lol.

I still play, but i actually miss when the consoles had shitty build controls and only played other console players. Back then it was pretty much just ramps only, which is just enough to move in three dimensions and cover yourself when moving across open fields. It gets pretty tedious to play against keyboard/mouse players that practice building and boxing up all day now.

Awesome they got Nolan north and Steve blum to voice iron man and wolverine again! I actually like nolan's Tony stark and Steve blum is literally wolverine for me. Just couldn't see anyone else voicing him other than Steve imo. overall solid event. Not the best ever as leakers were running around saying on Twitter but still awesome nonetheless

This was Covid Simulator 2020 made epic (by Epic).

I'm sure someone in another timeline/zone has made a similar joke.

And on that note, I like the implication by Stark about hacking the timeloop to clone billions of buses. I'm thinking of it as every battle bus that ever flew in a Fortnite match (this season, or every season?) got reengineered for this purpose.

Loved the nod to that one feature they added almost two years ago: thanking the bus driver. Except this time I'm driving and Ironman is thanking.

Lastly, I'm really glad I ended up picking Venom because it was a great view in first person:

Sorry for taking so long man, it's a real bad habit of mine.

Yea the fidelity of details in McFarlane's figures really shone not just for Violator (I don't blame you for being scared, though I wonder why you got him in the first place haha) but also the Clive Barker series IIRC.

I don't know much about Moon Knight, my first time seeing him was in Zen Studios' Marvel Pinball. I do know he's also playable in Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3.

And I'm sort of glad my guess was wrong; Venom's a fantastic skin, short of the weird graphical glitch around his elbows, which oughta be fixed in the coming update.

Edit: Typo.
