My pre-order just shipped! Will probably be getting it Tuesday or Wednesday.

Please tell me that getting a DeLorean is still possible even if you don't have Forza 3.

I have no idea what this means but it sounds pretty cool.

I was removing tiles on my roof because there are sections I can't get to in the crawl space. I'm routing speaker cables for some surround speakers. I was forced to stop for a while because of rain, which was [morissette]ironic[/morissette] because the thing that got me off my arse to finally do it was the sweet sounding Zonda in the demo and there's no rain in Forza. I then went on to talk about the "sky box" above my house.

Sorry about the confusion - I haven't been smoking anything and I've just cracked my first beer of the afternoon.

So where do I go to bitch about the demo - here, or the Forza 4 Review Thread?

I thought I was playing Project Gotham. They even had what looked like little "Kudos" indicators for passing and turning.

What the hell happened? I felt like I was degrading my Fanatec playing that thing.
In the demo thread. But most of the discussion occured in the pre official topic thread. I have detailed all the assists I saw in sim control mode earlier in this thread adding to what Yorimoto documented. If you have anything extra maybe put it here. Since handling is an issue not demo specific. keep in mind we've discussed it to death.

So I am pulling the handbrake and doing a 180 and will buy the game. If the handling isn't fixed it means a very short 4za vs GT5 comparison post from myself as well as a letter to Thomas from Fanatec thanking him for making a great product yet sending my condolences that he wasted his time.

So which version do I get?

- regular
- limited edition
- speed wheel + 4za $99 pack

I want to get a family member the speed wheel and F1 2011.

But maybe theres a good reason to get the LE? Is there ?

I am Getting the season pass so does it cover the cars you get with the LE?

So I'm set on speed wheel plus 4za plus season pass. Unless anyone can convince me otherwise. Nothing cool like a Forza keychain so rhose other non game extras mean nothing to me.

Amazon has a $10 credit on the normal version right now. I just preordered that with free release day delivery with prime.

So is it definite that assists are still forced in Forza 4? I just don't for the life of me understand why Turn 10 don't listen and remove this. What's the point in having a simulation mode or calling yourself a realistic sim if you force assists? Can it really be that hard to remove?

It's really disappointing as it played a big part in stealing the interest out of Forza 3 for me (I prefer Forza 2 for this very reason, though I can't confirm there isn't any assist in that either, the driving/handling physics certainly feel more accurate). If I'd just invested in a CSR, I'd be more annoyed at this news.

Anyway, still after a second hand GT2 so anyone selling drop me a PM!

IIRC, it's a bug that they're going to patch.

Turn10 isnt going to shove cars into your garage that you cant use or get rid of unless you pay them the ransom in real money like they did in FM3 are they?

That was infuriating and also insulting when they called it a "GIFT".

OK, if I'm going to treat myself to just one video, which one should I watch? It must contain a full lap replay at the end. Any suggestions?

Holy ISH if true you just blew my mind!!!

Yeah I'm not so hopeful Dan said he would look into it but I can't imagine something that obvious that was noticable being a mere bug.

In another sense it has to be a bug it is no where near "simulation" as it is labeled.

But T10 also labeled "Track Day" and "Autocross" for modes that are not really track days or autocrosses...

So...

you can't really believe anything right now. It is a slap in the face for Fanatec owners who bought wheels and pedals for the game. They did a good job with clutch support. The forcefeedback is fantastic and the feel of every aspect is heavenly. Its just that one issue of 1:1 steering input. Which sorta is the most important thing.

Just watched that Inside Sim racing preview and the graphics of the game are fucking insane. The cars look great in game. The backgrounds are now behind the cars in realism. But they look much better than before Almalfi Coast looks hot. Laguna Seca looks realistic finally.

ok, haven't been able to stop playing for hours...

I figure, I'll just do the amateur level in world tour....

Then I decided to check out the marketplace a bit....

then bought the Savannah RX-7...so had to upgrade it...

then spend hours tuning the thing (have it at a perfect B500)...

of course, I HAD to check out the new shapes in the vinyl editor (which are so awesome, by the way)

then I decided to check out Autovista, which is just pure, unadulterated car-porn...

then I noticed that each locked car in AV mode had a specific challenge to unlock it...so I had to do a few...

In all, this game will just eat up so much time, it's fantastic...though I do have some little gripes..

First....in upgrading the RX-7, I did notice that THERE IS NO 20B. What the fucking hell is this? Your choices for engine swaps are the Spirit-R engine and the Furai's powerhouse (which is a laughable thought, considering it's twice the size of the engine bay). There is no classic 3-rotor, you can't swap in a Renesis, and you can't swap in a piston engine (though why would you want to?).
I really don't understand why they wouldn't have the 20B, since it's been in every other Forza this generation.

Second...as cool as Autovista is, it really feels like there are major missed opportunities. The Clarkson voice overs are cool (they're also printed word-for-word in the book that comes with the LE) but the technical voice-overs are sorely lacking. They too often just say what you're looking at. I don't need someone to tell me "These are wheels with five spokes" if I'm looking at 5-spoke wheels. And then they hammer home each 'fact' by stamping it on the screen in bold letters "5-SPOKE WHEELS"! I was hoping for a bit more tech spec trivia...like the weight of the wheels, or just something that I wouldn't be able to figure out just by glancing at the car.
Also, when you click on the tech bits, you get these cool up-close-and-personal camera angles that really show off the surfaces and modelling. But when you're just in free-look, it's like you're not allowed to get up close to the car. The way around this is by using photomode, but that takes something away from the experience.

Can anyone who has the full game confirm if someone's done a livery for the XB Falcon similar to Eric Bana's in Love the Beast?

That's very strange about the RX7 engine swap. What in the world could be the reason for the 20b omission?
They haven't added too much new customization and upgrade components so why delete some options?

I seriously hope that FM5 expands upon those sort of things rather than concentrate on cool but ultimately shallow experiences of AutoVista and such. I understand that they needed to showcase their graphics engine and to an extent I accept it, but in the end it's always going to be about the gameplay no matter what Greenawalt says, and as such, elements that can add to that gameplay should take priority above everything else.

I feel that next gen, they WILL deliver. They have proven their point with these gorgeous visuals and amazing audio. Next step, absolute immersion with the likes of weather, night, perhaps a little off roading. Next gen, palm sweating, heart pounding A.I and a souped up damage model. Throw in a plethora of customization/upgrades and tuning possibilities never before seen and I swear, you will have a RACING MEGATON that shall echo through the ages!

But for now, I shall bask in the glorious incubation that is FM4.........

Furai engine is 20B (albeit the renesis version) I believe.

It's the Renesis 20B, yes, but I don't think I'd compare it to what sits in a Cosmo...I'm just surprised that they had the classic 20B in F2 and F3, but wouldn't have it here. I'd expect them to just add the Furai's engine and also give the option of swapping in the Renesis from the RX8

Ah, thanks. I wonder if stores in Australia will break on the "but some guy I know on a forum has review code!" excuse?

Old people that work at Kmart are notorious for breaking street dates.

They are our friends!

One time they wouldn't sell me a game (ODST) even though it came out that day.

So really the people at Kmart suck at dates.
