"Forza Horizon 2 Is The Project Gotham Racing Game You've Been Waiting For"

"My 30fps racer is more like this old 30fps racer than yours!"

"No, my 30fps racer is more like this old 30fps racer than YOURS!"

No need to argue, chums... in a way, you're both winners here :)

I know comparisons are mum here, but IMO Driveclub looks more like PGR to me than Forza Horizon 2. The original article just comes across as cringy.

We get it, you're a troll. Your post history gives it away.

This. Comparing PGR and Forza Horizon is apples to oranges. DC looks and plays like a spiritual successor to PGR.

It's so easy to tell who hasn't played Horizon by these replies. There are tight technical circuits in the game, racing on open road is just one part of the whole experience.

Well in that case a lot of games could claim to be the spiritual sucessor to PGR. Most racing games feature tight technical circuits as a component of a larger racing experience.

PGR on the other hand, focuses on tight urban circuits which makes it unique in that regard.

FH is more about going on a grand racing journey and being carefree, where as PGR is about mastering distinct street circuits and doing it with style, precision and speed.

That is not a statement I take lightly, considering PGR4 is my favorite racing game period.

But I can't deny that I kinda got a hint of that from the launch trailer though, it looks incredible.

No it isn't.

The PGR game I'm waiting for has lots of awesome looking city tracks for me to do laps around. This is not that.

Neither is Drive Club.

I still fail to see the PGR successor in either DC or FH2, but at least FH2 does have cities and tracks carved out city maps, contrary to DC long winding roads.

Ah, okay.

I'm re-watching it and I really cannot spot the pop in.... Guess I'll download the video and check it out in slo-mo.

I thinks he's talking about one of the little bushes on the side but it's lightning quick.

You will blink and you will miss it quick lol.

EDIT: Nope I was wrong, just watched it in HD.

I'm as clueless as you are Miles ha.

Look in the distance at the fields as he is going down the hill.

It's barely noticeable, I had to watch the clip 3 times before I could see it.

And if you need to help people find it, that tells you all that you need to know about that observation's worth in the first place.

As much as I hate racing games in general, both this and Drive Club both look like excellent games. Don't have a PS4 yet, but I may have to pick this up... Open world + customization? Yes please.

Sorry for the stupid question, but I don’t follow these games much. Does this play more like Forza 5 just open world? Or is it more lenient since in the launch trailer I seen big jumps and breaking of debris.

In a shell, it's open-world Forza 5 with more arcade physics and a "road trip/summer music festival" background. There's car customization and somewhat realistic physics (kinda like Race Driver Grid or Driver San Francisco), but also off-road racing and exploration and an actual story.

Pretty much. This is a pretty ridiculous complaint.

I generally feel this way about technical analyses, like the kind that Digital Foundry specializes in, too, though I know many on GAF really disagree. A lot of time, people would never have noticed and never have had an issue with something until someone with a fine tooth comb points it out to them. The darker side of data points, IMO, where it relates to entertainment products.

Didn't know there were some working on this game, ah.

Playground Games was started by Devs from PGR when Bizarre died.

The development studio was established in 2009, by former employees of other well known British games developers, such as Codemasters, Bizarre Creations, Criterion Games, Ubisoft Reflections, Slightly Mad Studios, Black Rock Studio, Juice Games, Sony Liverpool and many other world-class developers that are known for their racing video games.

Ah ok. Thank you.

This is a system seller for me; nothing else even comes close. FH1 was rare perfection and I I thought they'd have no chance to match it after the travesty that was FM5.

As soon as that white console (Kinectless) is released, this will be mine.

Played this a few times at Gamescom at the aftershow, it was really exciting.

In the Demo the weather changes mid race and the first two times I tried I ended up skidding off the road because the handling changed. Twas great.

Driving through fields of wheat in bonnet cam was difficult though!

Same here. I don't see the comparison at all. DriveClub seems much more like a spiritual successor to PGR than the Horizon series.
Why, though? Can you link a video that helps support this belief? I'm genuinely curious because I never see it, but I am interested in playing the PS+ demo to see for myself. I see no real technical courses in all of the video previews and all very nice looking areas zipped by on long, relatively gentle curves. Not once do I recall a video that even looked like the first thirty seconds of the video last linked in this thread where FH2 is having racers on some tighter city courses at night. Maybe I missed a video.

Oh snap, I'm tier 3. I want to get to 4 to get that lamborghini

I'd never heard of those before. I'm tier 3 too. How do you get to the next tier? And if I redeem rewards (300k credits for forza 5), does that reset my tier back to zero?

Edit: need 2,500 points. On 2,200 so should be doable
