Forza Horizon 2 |OT| Rock You Like a Huracan

I think the only thing I did not like was that the game campaing get you to travel city by city to do the same 4 tracks in each city doesnt matter the car type you choose (its 4 by city right? In fact Im not sure cause I have just finished the 1st city for the 2nd time). Id like to have access for all tracks that I have beaten the 1st time at least. They should have explored the world better with more tracks and stuff.

And the sense of progression when upgrading your car lacks a bit of satisfaction since it will scale every race to your car level (even in the same class).

Other then that I liked everything else! Its pure enjoyment to travel the game world; the special races (against planes, trains and baloons) are exciting and a GREAT addition; the game is challangening if you set the difficult right for you; the tracks are pretty damn fun to race on; the customization is huge; the multiplayer is fun; and the handling is the best Ive ever seen on any racing game!

As someone who put thousands of hours into the PGR games, with most of it spent on PGR4, I don't get it when people say this. I haven't once been reminded of PGR, or felt like I was playing a spiritual successor to PGR at any time. Even during the city races.

That's not a criticism, mind you. I absolutely love this game for what it is. I'm just saying that I don't get a PGR vibe from it.

I got mad, MAD! PGR4 vibes from the first city/night races.

It´s not the challenge I´m after. I actually like upgrading.

I want to have to sit in the garage and think about what upgrades to buy to hit the needed car level.

Unfortunately this is gone in Horizon 2.

It definitely is if you want to play online - events there are grouped purely be performance class (with free choice of car class), so you'll want to be near the top of the band if possible.

Plus, upgrading/tuning can make a big difference to handling, which can make an event you were having difficulty with beatable. And, y'know, sometimes it can just be fun to upgrade the hell out of a car and turn it into a monster.

You're never forced into upgrading, though, just because the game suddenly wants you to have an A-class European AWD car from the 80s or whatever, which sometimes happened in the first game. They seem to have gone heavily into the whole idea of freedom, to the point that the game never actually forces you to do anything to progress (you could use the same car through the whole game and still get to the finale and "beat" the game).

On the other hand, that also means you're never stuck having to drive a muscle car from the 70s that handles like a barge unless you want to, which is a plus point for me (no offence to those who actually like those cars, they're just not my thing).

The figures just posted were from the UK, game has sold well digitally in both the US and the UK though.

I'd normally be skeptical of any claims of a game selling well digitally in the UK, but I actually cancelled my Amazon preorder and got FH2 digitally myself. Whoever decided to set the base price on the digital copies to £45 deserves a raise.

#doyouevenracebro?

We gotta get a few games together btw. I hope you've got your headphones now!

I might be a bit busy working on the DriveClub review today though.

I WILL NOT STAND FOR THIS! :p

And yes, I have a headset....but it's for Skype on my PC and it isn't compatible with the X1. Lmao. None of my friends have an X1, so I can't justify buying a headset yet. One day, though, one day....

Around Niece in certain cars, like an M3, I got a good PGR vibe. But it's a handful of races only.

The great demo along with pre-load released at the same time was a great move for this game.

It was digital done right, except for the price of course, which was higher than I could buy physically upon release (in Australia). Thankfully MS made it relatively easy to buy from a different region.

Those missing speed traps and speed zones are driving me mad. Has someone already found them all? If so - PLEASE post a picture of your map.

There are 11 routes at each hub, except Nice, which has 22, and Casteletto, which has 12, for a total of 78. So different championships at the same hub will use a different set of 4 routes from the full selection.

You can see all of them (and time-trial on them) under Festival Routes in the Rivals tab of the main menu.

I left the GAF club this morning - just to see if it would make a difference to stability. Played for a couple of hours with no lockup - though I was getting them infrequently enough that this is no guarantee of success.

Meanwhile I'm still loving the game. One thing I've noticed compared to Forza Motorsport 5 is my own choice of cars. Here in Horizon 2 I've been mostly driving slower vehicles. They seem better suited to races through the countryside and I'm having lots of fun with my MX-5, Sierra and hot hatches. In FM5 I much prefer the big guns - the Ferraris, Lamborghinis etc. - but they are much better suited to the race track.

I do like the way the game will let you drive a car completely stock and not put car-class maxed cars against you. I feel this is something we should have in the next Motorsport game - perhaps giving the user the option. I have tuned and gone over the class limit for some races - but the result is I still race against the same bodystyle rather than cars that would outclass mine. I like this very much.

However I've not quite worked out in my mind the best way of doing this in the next Motorsport game. Perhaps having bodystyle races that will match your PI whatever class you tune to, but only with similar cars similarly tuned. And also having class type races where PI is limited. There's no reason there couldn't be a mix of these. FM5 has something like this already - however there are two limitations, (1) Bodystyle events limit the PI, and (2) You always have to tune, stock models are not encouraged or given fair competition.

I also wonder if its time tire choices were separated from PI. It seems unfair that you could have two similar cars, but one is under the PI enough that it can fit race tires, while the other can not. Gran Turismo seems to handle this better by setting the tire choice separately from the car's performance index.

I am loving this game but I do really miss dust when doing offroad... I was racing yesterday around the countryside with 8 other cars and I really miss the dust that real life offroad racing produces it just makes it look a lot more brutal.

More particles is on the list of my most desired features for next Forza games.

I missed out on getting Tier 1 before the reset because of this livery but I am glad its done. Feels good to have at least one paint done. It is currently up for share on the Supra, the Ram Runner (Mega Ram), the Ford Transit Van (Mega Van lol) and the Bugatti Veyron. Now time to get back to tier 2!

Wow! That is impressive work. I'm looking forward to see what other designs you come up with.

Have you completely shut down your game and restarted it?

Are you a member of a club?

Well I have now, since it crashed ;) I'd resumed from where I left off last night prior to the crash, though.

And yeah, I'm in a club.

You should already have my console info, etc in a PM from a few days ago.

Same here, for me the game doesn't feel like a PGR game at all. PGR was about precision driving on very tight tracks. Forza Horizon is all about maintaining speed and finding shortcuts.

Hmm, then thats awesome to hear!!
After finishing the campaing can you freely access any race track?

I second this, I haven't once felt like i was playing PGR. No where close.

Can drive in a city at night. So what?

I feel comparing it to PGR4 is doing it a disservice anyway.

Ok, try hard resetting your console and let me know if it does it again please.

I think these night and rain races in the beginning of the game are very close to what a new PGR would look like. All in all, FH2 is unique. However, especially in that specific races, I feel like it definitely had that PGR vibe there.

I've had a single sound loop crash on the retail dashboard last night. It's been my first and only crash of that kind in the game, so I'll test a hard reset myself now too.

If you want details:

Digital copy of the game.
Normal Day One edition with the VIP and Car Pass downloaded separately.
Running off of internal hard drive, console is not modified/HDD swapped in any way.
Internal HDD is around 50.8% full.

I rarely ever actually quit the game, I leave the console on instant on so I'm not sure if I'm just kind of "exhausting" the console and not giving it a chance to clear its memory or whatever.

Depending on the components of the headset, you could get it working on X1.

If it has 1 Mic Jack and 1 Headphone Jack, you could always get:

- Headset Splitter Adapter
- Official Xbox One Stereo Headset Adapter

Worked for my headset. And the Splitter Adapter lets me plug into my Wii U Gamepad and 3DS aswell, so that's great.

There are city circuit races that feel very much like PGR. PGR was also an open world racer that blocked off streets to create tracks. That is what Horizon does for circuit races.

Yeah... The more I think about it, the more I miss the campaign structure from the first game.

The second one feel more like a big open world sandbox without any directions. You do the couple of road trips at the beginning but once those are done you are left with a simple list of championships to do. No real sense of progression or accomplishement. It's basically a checklist simulator.

I love the actual driving, the races, the graphics, the cars, etc but I realized this week-end that I was not really craving for the game when away from it because when I was actually playing it I was just wandering aimlessly from race to race without a purpose. There's like no carrot on a stick, no objective I want to reach, no goal to reach.

That's not exactly true. The championships do continue after the first one. You get to choose where the road trips go - but there's still the same structure of winning 15 events for another final.

Well... Maybe I'm wrong but after doing 5 or 6 championships/road trips (can't remember how many now) I "discovered" all the regions on the map and now it was just letting me choose the next championship from the list.

After you locate all the XP and Fast Travel boards that are highlighted on the map, do more appear after a certain amount of time, or do I just need to get lucky and find them all on my own?

Got Tier 4 two days ago and redeemed my rewards. Credits arrived a couple hours later, but I'm still waiting for the Huracan. Will I ever get it? :D
