Forza Horizon 2: Resolution (1080p), Framerate (30fps), Music, & More Detailed - IGNF

Fallen Xbot (cannot continue gaining levels in this class)
I think Horizon 2 will already give us a taste on that.

as AMAZING as dlc rally was in FH, it just scratched the surface of what forza rallisport could be. give it to me. authentic rally, rallycross, hill climb, and ice racing. i want.

I didn't have the slightest interest in an Xbox One until now. The magic combination of words 'Project Gotham Racing' have been mentioned more than once which means FH2 may just be a system seller to me.

Look forward to reading more and viewing some footage soon.
Old post etc. but it's coming on 360. No need to buy a bone!

That will likely boil down to the XBox One not being as powerful and/or the game being more open world. I look forward to both games to be honest since I love racing games. I'm just a little peeved I won't be able to use my driving wheel I have for my XBox 360 but I imagine Forza Horizon 2 will also feature the rumble triggers on the controllers many rave about.

Never had a wheel that was 360 compatible - was it good with Fh1? I often find the more arcadey games work perfectly well with a controller so I rarely break out the wheel for those.

Well the last time I stayed up late for some gaming news was when we were going to get teased with some Halo 5 news. But that was because we had a set time on when we were going to get that info. I'm just going to get some shut-eye and then hopefully wake up in the morning to a Forza Horizon 2 teaser.

I'm excited for it! To those staying up, stay frosty. :)

They could be two entirely different experiences though. Better to buy both...
1. I don't have a bone.
2. Honestly, I'm more keen to see what Sumo's take on the franchise is than PG. Kind of already know with Playground, but Sumo haven't done a realistic racing game before.

you should set your expectations to realistic, its not like they are inventing the wheel, they are being given all the tech and a very strict script I guess..
you should expect a slightly refined horizon1 on the 360 I'd think. by no means a bad thing, and I am 100% sure sumo will deliver. ;)

I was more hoping we might see some little gameplay tweaks and touches and not something so copypasta. I'm thinking when games have been released across platforms by different devs, like (this is stretching it) THPS2 when it came out on DC (with an extra character or two, plus various little graphical touches). They did port the F1 games to PSP, Vita, Wii and 3DS, but I have no idea what they were like. I suspect they were lauded for being actually slightly different and perhaps better than their counterparts in some respects.

Edit: This is interesting. It's an article on an advertisement of a job at Sumo for a "vehicle handling specialist" in Feb.

Chances are its going to be pretty much the same game just lacking in some features and graphical fidelity.

it's not clear if they are building their own Horizon 2 or just taking Playground's game and stripping it of dem graphics etc.
Curious either way

I expect the 360 version will be exactly the same minus 2 or 3 of the higher LOD detail levels. And of course 720p versus 1080p.

That's precisely what I'm expecting. Microsoft threw a big enough bone to Xbox 360 owners by putting the game on the platform in the first place, I expect Playground's version to be equal or better in pretty much every respect. That said, I might buy both, I love Horizon that much, and Sumo are dear to me as well.

It's going to be more than that. The 360 almost certainly won't have every light source be dynamic and graphical fidelity across the board is going to be reduced.

I wouldn't be surprised if stiff like drivatars and weather aren't included. Could FH1's engine handle weather?

This could be an interesting marketing strategy by MS actually. Show both the 360 and X1 versions and point out that while the 360 version is great it doesn't have weather or seamless multiplayer etc.

This is all me speculating though and I expect the 360 version just to be a downgraded version of the X1 game.

I am afraid you are serious with your post and did not read the IGN articles, right?

Wrong. I doubt the 360 version is being built from the ground up with it's own assets. It will likely use most of the assets from the XB1 main version minus the higher LOD detail levels. Those will make a big difference though.

That's my educated guess anyway!

You do know they are using different engines right?

Do you seriously think that the all new lighting engine that's being discussed in the interview will make it intact to the 360 version? also what about texture resolution or poly count? sharing assets is one thing but expecting that the only difference will be just higher LOD doesn't make sense considering the gap in perfomance between the 360 and the Xbone.

I highly doubt that - sounds like major differences to me from what we know. Even the lighting will look different, readng the XBO version will have dynamic lights.

Okay, we are trying to go too far into detail here on a game that we haven't seen on either platform. The point I'm making is the game will most likely be the same except for graphical differences. Even though they will be built on different engines they can still share assets, the detail will just be scaled back for the 360 version in all departments.

And I'm not excluding textures or poly count or anything else. LOD can be scaled across all aspects of the games graphics and that's what I meant.

For example something that's at LOD level 3 on the XB1 version could be the highest detail on the 360 version. This could be anything, a texture, a model, a collision model, a shader, a weather effect, and so on.

Wait, will Dan hop onstage to "unveil" horizon on monday ?
A MS conference just isn't the same without the Greenawalt

Earlier you said that the 360 version "will be exactly the same minus 2 or 3 of the higher LOD detail levels"...anyway we'll see how the game looks on Xbone soon.

And as I said in my earlier post, LOD detail levels can and are applied to almost everything. The 360 version missing 2 or 3 of the highest LOD details across the board would make a big difference.

Anyway moving on!
