I’m really enjoying my time with the game, but I do find the amount of options and modes overwhelming. I joined an eliminator mode and literally didn’t have a clue what I was doing! Then you have the npc’s constantly asking you to do this and do that, go here and go there - honestly, my map is already peppered with races and god knows what. I’d have personally preferred a more slow and steady progression system. This isn’t a criticism btw, it’s just how the amount of stuff to do, so early in the game, overwhelms me personally.
I think my only minor criticism of the game is that it seems like it wasn’t designed with newbies in mind. I know most of the single player stuff is self explanatory, but the online stuff is baffling. What the hell is convoy? I’ve joined a Club, but to what end? I’ve found the club leaderboards, so I’m guessing we all contribute to an overall score? I’m sure I’ll get used to it eventually.
Other than that, it’s a really enjoyable racer. The visuals are superb (I continued with quality mode because it seems smooth enough to me) and the audio is also great, though some of the music seems to have been used a lot in other racers recently, like Dirt 5.
I’ve turned off racing lines because I hate that stuff and I’m repeating races until I get the 1st position before I move on. My fave races are point to point street races, weaving in and out of traffic, which reminds me of the NFS game on the 3DO.
Oh, one other small criticism. The replays. When you have such amazing visuals, it seems a shame to have such poor replays. I’d have loved to have watched some of my races with a proper replay mode, with cameras moving independently from close to far cams. Instead we only get to choose from limited camera positions, most of which are utterly pointless. Maybe I am missing something?
One thing that did please me greatly, was the option to buy a home that allowed me to fast travel to any road. Such a godsend! *
* though you do need to pay around 9000 cr each time lol
Fast travel gets gradually cheaper when you knock down the fast travel bonus boards (50 total on the map). When you knock down all the boards it’s free.
The way i play is i focus on one type of activity every session and disable all the map icons except the one i am doing. No icon overdose that way.
I thought that it was based on what my xbox account was set to (same as it knowing my name).“UK Superstar”…
Thanks but I’m actually the “US, France/Italy, Australia and UK Superstar” thank you very much!
I swear this game totally ignores Horizon 1-3 and acts like 4 is the only one in the series.
Yeah, good shout with disabling the icons, I’ll do that next time I have a bash. Also, didn’t realise that fast travel boards reduced the cost - good to know. I’ll probably try and find one of those ‘20 things I wish I knew before playing FH5’ videos on YouTube.Fast travel gets gradually cheaper when you knock down the fast travel bonus boards (50 total on the map). Here is the sign I had most trouble with, not my video btw
It's possible to select only to show specific icons for what you want to participate in. I pretty much only do races for now. Competing against rivals is really fun. [tryng to beat their time as long as you don't look at overall cheat leaderboards] I like how there's so much to do. You can play this racer for months. As long as you don't burn out by playing nonstop for days at launch then you will keep on coming back for more.I’m really enjoying my time with the game, but I do find the amount of options and modes overwhelming. If I gift a car do I lose it? I’m not sure why I am being asked to give away my cool shit.
Cheers matey. Yeah, I was really glad to have found that house, and lucky enough to have accrued the 2 mil. I’ve not really had to spend much money on anything else because the game just throws new cars at you, like they are going out of fashion. I get what you are saying with potential burnout as well. I’m currently playing through the Mass Effect trilogy - completed the 1st and early into the 2nd game, so they will both be vying for my gaming time over the next few weeks. It's possible to select only to show specific icons for what you want to participate in. You already have that 2M house. Now all you *only* need to do is smash 50 FT boards and then FT should be absolutely free.
The ones with the current icon [don't bother with xp ones]:
Is this the one ?drone mode? how do you access that?
so all the hard to get ones are not supposed to be got with cars? did wonder about that on F4 because i couldnt see any ramps or jumps near some
Servers have already been having trouble the last few days, couldn’t connect to free-roam at all yesterday.1 million plus paid boys , I have a very bad feeling come November 9th it might crash the whole Xbox live
Imagine all of us poor game pass boys and gals logging in at the same time .
I'm pretty sure the real launch day numbers will be crazy
Anyone else having trouble finding a good difficulty level? Average is too easy, but above average almost doesn't let you have fun during the race anymore. Feels like it starts making you pretend this isn't an arcade game- can't powerslide at all or you will lose.
sure, but if I wanted to play it straight I could play FM, GT, or the myriad racers on pcIt's still based on physics. Sliding is always less efficient than keeping grip (with the exception of the rally style races). You can just get away with it on easy (or overcome it with a high rated car).
You can see the difference it makes in the speed zones as thats based on maintained speed.
No, it's still sameTo those who are having fun now, I have one burning question.
In FH4, when playing a mission online with friends, like horizon stories for example, you can't restart a checkpoint, you have to exit the mission, and restart from the world map, this turned me off from co-op. Has this been addressed?
FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCKNo, it's still same
Sorry went out last night will get you today if someone else hasn’t.
That’s not even the hard one.
Jump from the hill directly on the other side
Wait until you find the wire hanging in a power line
I like your updates, keep them up. I raced your drivatar before in a street race. He was a bad dick, ramming me into oncoming traffic.I've been sticking fast to my game plan. I keep track of and only spend money I make from racing. Wheel spin money and cars are off-limits. Ridiculous engine swaps and drivetrain changes are off-limits for SP career races. It's been a lot of fun so far slowly tuning up my cars and racing for money to buy the houses. I also haven't used fast-travel once.
I finally replaced the Corrado. Upgraded it to A class, around 300hp, about as fast as I'm willing to make it while still being FWD. She already pushes corners as it is.
Moved on to the Jimmy once it was repaired. Now I can tackle some off-road races since the Corrado is on street tires and FWD it understeers like mad on gravel.. Tossed in a modern 6.2L and some good tires taking it up to A class. It drives like it looks, top heavy.
I also bought a car to use for drift zones. Caterham with angle kit, tires and the diff tuned just right. I can hold a 45 degree angle across the entire long highway with this set up. Drifting in this game is so much better, a well set up car is just so flickable and easy to point. I also made some changes to my Snap-on livery I originally made for Forza Motorsport 5. I actually spent almost 5 hours in the paint booth yesterday readjusting old paint jobs.
I also updated my F-100 livery when I got it back from the barn find. Made a few upgrades to the old V8, tossed on some decent brakes and suspension, then left it in B class. What a great looking old girl.
Today I'm going sign board hunting.

Same. It's cool to be able to see totals of fellow GAF Club members. I've been chasing your 136 mark, just passed it. Curious how up-to-date that is.Today I'm going sign board hunting.

Do you have to have the game to join or do I have to wait until Tuesday ?I love seeing those kind of stats of fellow club members
If anyone wants in on our club just search for Forza GAF and send a request I will be online for awhile and can get the invites
I think you can request an invite just in the social tab on an xbox and don't have to do it through the game, I THINKDo you have to have the game to join or do I have to wait until Tuesday ?
Buy from MS store and play on both problem solved . But HDR in this game is really incredible and makes a huge difference but on the other hand you can play 60fps and at higher settings on pc than on your One X.Not sure which setup I want to main. Which would you go with?
Xbox One X with a 55" LG OLED B7 in the living room
-or-
PC in my office with 1070ti, 32 GB RAM, i7 8700 (non k) with 1440p monitor (no HDR) installed on an NVMe SSD
Does OLED/HDR outweigh fast loading times? Honestly, both have pros and cons.
How long must that have takenSomebody made a Poke-Viper design
You can put everything on ultra settings at QHD with a RTX 3070 and still get over 90fps easily.Anyone got any optimised pc settings, preferably for a 3070 at 1440p
