Yeah, the wheel surprised the shit out of me when I tried it. I too was thinking of getting rid of it in favour of the expensive Fanatec option for use with GT5 as well, but I think I'll hang on since the MS wheel plays so damn well with this game. Hopefully by the time GT5 drops there will be cheaper cross platform options for me.

Pity about you ditching your stainless setup though :(

Damn, you should have seen it. The frame was probably stronger than the frame in my real car. :D All stainless, which I stole from my work (it was all scrap metal...I hope). :lol I designed it so well that it could be carried over one shoulder and would stay perfectly balanced.

Lying to the community for months is kosher but calling the liar as a liar is not kosher.:lol I'll say " sorry guys , I misspoke, for months !" if mods say it is not "kosher".

Oh and , I see lots of Juniors here defending the liar. Nice ,some people learnt not to sign up GAF with corporate email. Good progress.

We get it, can you move on already? maybe take that shit to the vs thread

after reading the interview I ll have to say that Dan Greenwalt is some turd, full mouth of bs, which reminds of the best of best of best that kind of bs by Kaz Hirai or Kutaragi at E3 2005, Killzone 2 etc

anyway I still looking forward to play the game

The sad irony is that I was just expressing my interest/curiosity about the eye-candy modes, when Che decided to set me straight. He certainly won that day. But it's kinda come around to bite him in the ass now. He's managed to turn a positive into a negative. Now, instead of photo-mode being awesome, gameplay-mode is somehow disappointing. (I don't agree with that.) Imagine how much smoother things would have gone if he had just accepted the photo-mode compliments, given those developers their due, and stuck to the facts.

The conversation took place a while ago so I don't remember all the points that were brought up. But I think it was basically a question of whether photomode was doing much more than what the game would be rendering while you play. I made it clear that AA, DoF, and motion blur would be embellished, and that the assets themselves are the actually assets that are used in-game. Turns out I was wrong about one thing and that was the player car model, which does use the high detail version while everything else (all non-player cars, the track lighting, the skybox which I remember someone bringing up at some point, the track textures, track geometry, etc.) all stays the same.

Anyway, I apologize for kneejerk defense mode a couple months ago in response to your curiosity. Glad to see you're enjoying the demo. :D

Everyone noticed. Some people (haters) mocked. But it was blamed by fans and others to be because of video compression and artifacting, not a lesser LOD.

Turns out it wasn't the compression after all.

Which posts were this?

I hope that isn't a reference to that GT video because it was pure crap and it is more than evident now. Like two different worlds of quality.

How the hell do you change the race mode in the demo? Sometimes I race time trial, drift sometimes, and most of the time full race with other cars.

The game automatically tracks both your race time and your drift scores as you play. Default UI shows you the hotlap time in the upper right corner. If you push left on the d-pad, you can see your drift score.

If you want to hotlap with no AI cars, go to the leaderboard section and select hotlap.

Which posts were what? Haters critising the visuals? People comparing them to the promo shots? People defending them? People saying it was down to the compression? Which bit, because all of the above happened. namely when GameTrailers released that direct feed gameplay trailer (which even I posted screens from) and then team 10 responded to criticisms by releasing another one (which still looked a little different to the promo shots, naturally). But I think everyone with half a brain expects that.

Promo shots are always bullshots. Doesn't matter what company they are from. I just think the difference in LOD surprised people. Especially since we were told there woulnd't be any LOD differences. That said, this is dragging on lol...

Why are you still on this topic?

There's a difference between a "blatant lie" and an error. You no doubt have seen che's many responses to this already. Yet, in spite of that, you're still clinging to the "they lied" angle, when che himself has just explained that he made an error.

if you want to go on trumpeting this as a "blatant lie", then feel free. But most of us have moved on already.

I am on this topic because you replied to my post and claimed that people were pointing out LOD issues in the cars in the Gamersyde and T10 vids.

I didn't find anyone doing so...so I asked you to provide proof. Evidently you couldn't so we can just leave it at that.

I'm still right...no-one brought up LOD issues with the FK, Sedona, and Amalfi vids. Despite them being HD vids.

I think I'm going to a Fanatec Stand. I've got a makeshift crate now, which I took out two planks i put my feet through to get to the pedals. But the pedals keep sliding away and my shins hit the crate. Also the crate moves too much when I try to catch oversteer. I must say though, after 90 laps with the porsche that i'm slowly starting to adjust to the wheel. The porsche remains a beast though, and the track is pretty difficult for me. The racing line is far from the fastest way to get around the track and finding the proper line in and out can be really difficult. I finally was able to slash a second or more off my time, still not the fastest (1:02:5ish). I'm looking forward to the full game a lot. Should be an awesome waste of time.

Finally, our interview is ready to be viewed.

Taxigamer's Forza Motorsport 3 page with many off-screen videos for those who haven't seen them
Link to the interview of Dan Greenawalt

As always, HD downloadable version is playable on both PS3 and Xbox 360, so that fanboys from every sides can enjoy it. :lol
Youtube version also incoming. Check our channel (click to go)

Sorry about the sound, it's not the best but we weren't in a separate room to do the interview... :(

Here are the topics we talk about in the interview :
-Relation with manufacturers since Forza 1
-How are chosen and modeled cars (he actually skipped the second part)
-Audi partnership
-Intellisponse and TofuR leaks
-VIP leaks
-DLC plans leaks
-Editing livery with Photoshop
-Microsoft reaction to 2 discs
-Project Natal

We had other questions but unfortunately we had only 10 minutes...

PS : I know there's an error in one of the title but it took so long to encode... Maybe we'll correct it later.

That was a really really good interview. Very interesting questions and interesting answers too.

Gah. I really want the LCE just for the packaging but there's now way it's worth $80 to me. I don't even have anything to trade in to offset the cost in my mind.

New FXX Gameplay @ Ladera Test Track

Apparently we can expect more of these short gameplay videos as well.

There is some weird interlacing in those vids. Can't be just me...

Nice to see the in-dash rear view screen in effect.

When all 3 Montserrat tracks are connected it will be interesting to go through a clinical and flat track like this into a rough and hilly track like Camino Viejo.

I don't even know if I'm spelling these names right...

Figure I'll go ahead and post this. Here's the "racing seat" I built about two years ago for Forza 2. Cost about $35 total.

seat.jpg

The seat is from a Hyundai Accent (which is actually the car I drive), grabbed from a junkyard for around 15 bucks. It does slide forward and back. The casters, nuts and bolts were about $20. The wood was just stuff from my Dad's garage, the red boards from another project. And yes, that is a sock under the brake pedal, had to do something to keep from locking the brakes.

I wish I have space for seat ... that actually looks very nice.

I stuck a thick piece of packaging sponge under the brake pedal.

I was wondering whether you used a wheel or controller. Nice setup!

Thanks for sharing. I was considering the same thing at first with getting a seat out of a junkyard but it would take too much space in my room at the moment. But I think it would be the best option for comfort.

Don't know if this has been linked yet... but here's the features they added to the Fanatec wheel: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9hzx6iUnB4k&feature=player_embedded

I can't wait. :D

Yeah I had a feeling they would be software upgrades as a result of the extra time they had. That drift mode sounds great. I suppose that means that there is just as much resistance when you have collisions but less when steering just like powersteering.

Even the shift paddles are made of metal.

Hey Che how is T10's Fanatec wheel holding up? It must have been used and abused a thousand times over to say the least considering it's been at all those shows. The fact that it lasted E3 makes me confident that it must be pretty durable.

Thanks for the compliments guys. Not too hard to do if you have a mitre or circular saw.

Wheel all the way, although I do wonder if I could be faster with the controller. Now I've got to find those extra tenths to beat your Mini time!

Nice.

Here's the new features mentioned:

1. USB connection cable

On PC/ PS3 you now have the option to choose between a wired or a wireless connection. This feature is standard on all versions of the wheel.

(If you now consider to cancel the order of your wireless dongle you are free to do so but please note that you need to cancel the complete order and reorder again due to technical reasons.)

2. DriftMode

We now have the driftmode implemented into firmware so you can use it also on the consoles without the driver

3. ABS vibration

In the firmware you can choose a percentage of brake force on which the vibration motors of the wheel and the CSP will be activated. This helps you to find the optimal brake force easily. Compatible to all games on all platforms!
Sounds like the latter 2 new features are done independent of game, so should work on all games on all platforms. :D

I'd post this in the GT5 thread, but since the vid uses Forza 3 to demo the new features I don't think the response would be too kind. :(

I'm the one that wrote that old post that Che "WRONG!"-ed so memorably. So, I find it humorous that, unlike yourself, I don't care that lower-poly models are used outside the showroom and photo modes. In fact, I think it's kinda neat that Turn 10 implemented a car-porn mode using settings that would be impossible to support during 60FPS gameplay. Kudos. They should portray it as such, accept their accolades, and move on. (Actually I'm pretty sure the better-informed members of Turn 10 have been doing just that. I'm almost positive I read about that those high-poly model "modes" in an interview way back when.) I mean, think about it. It bugs you (nib95) that the photo-mode is better than Che would have had you believe. How weird is that? :D

IMO, Che is a bit of a fanboy. And not in the good, support-the-team sense either. Things can fall by the wayside when he's in a rush to defend or attack. He chose to interpret my post as an insult, and in his haste to "zing" me in front of his fans, claimed something that wasn't actually true. I really doubt it was even a lie, in his eyes. He's just not particularly well informed. Or observant. Or tactful.

The game still looks fun, though. And I'm sure the photo-mode will be gorgeous. (That's not a backhanded compliment, either.)

Fawning, Spooging, and masurbating as blind fanaticism: Nothing else will be tolerated. Anything that requires thinking to understand is verboten.

It would be great if photo mode used all of the highest detailed assets and offered some 1920x1080 res images. Would work great for PS3 backgrounds..

After checking the leaderboards it seems only 399k people have downloaded the demo, that seems a bity low to me unless i'm reading it wrong?
