Got the Microsoft wheel yesterday, damn never knew it would be such a workout to use it, especially the straight after the first cornern in the demo is brutal :lol
Makes me wonder why i didn't do this sooner, it's such a blast to play and i'm definitly going to be quiker, already took 0,5 second of my laptime on maple valley.

After checking the leaderboards it seems only 399k people have downloaded the demo, that seems a bity low to me unless i'm reading it wrong?

different leaderboards for each car, porsche flying lizard is most popular

Does it record lap times in race mode or just when doing flying laps? If it's the latter I'm sure a lot of people haven't figured out how to access that part of the demo.

it records lap times and drift scores in race mode too

I doubt it helps that it wasn't recording lap times for most of the first day the demo was up there. I'd wager a lot of people played the leaderboardless version and then didn't go back to it.

Who's getting the GameStop Limited Edition?

I'm willing to throw down $80 to get extras...

i had the LCE preordered, then deleted the order before the demo, now after the demo, im so tempted to cancel the normal edition and get the LCE again :lol

I think it was recording, I had posted times before playing the leaderboards

wow the manual makes such a difference. first time I played with it I beat my best time(mini) by almost 2 seconds and the lap was far from smooth. amazing how much faster you go through corners just being in the right gear/power band.

I do wonder if the exclusive cars become DLC down the road

Figure I'll go ahead and post this. Here's the "racing seat" I built about two years ago for Forza 2. Cost about $35 total.

That's really good. I'd like to make something like that at some point in the future. Have you thought of getting a buttkicker for it? Like this.

Nice.

Here's the new features mentioned:

Sounds like the latter 2 new features are done independent of game, so should work on all games on all platforms. :D

I'd post this in the GT5 thread, but since the vid uses Forza 3 to demo the new features I don't think the response would be too kind. :(
That rumble brakepad sounds awesome but...does it only initiate rumble at the 85% mark or fully pressed down? I ask since it's a universal feature and that kinda sounds a bit weird to me in some situations.

that can't be right. the A class leaderbord has the most with over 450K. but not everyone who downloaded the demo has raced in that car yet (and completed a lap) so it's likely more than that

You can vary the percentage. It's the sort of thing you'd dial in when doing hot laps.

Some games will support it ingame... strangely I don't know if Forza is one of them.

No, the user can decide at what % to set it rumble. 85% is just an example.

What I would like to know if it can detect when the brakes IN THE GAME are blocked and rumble accordingly, instead of setting an user defined %....

Yeah, I payed $20 for 5 cars. It's the first limited edition game I've ever bought. Apparently if I'm going to be raped, I like to be raped hard. Who knew?!

If the game supports it directly in software, I believe that it would be able to. If not, then this is the only way to set it. I wouldn't worry though, as undoubtedly people will compile info together and come up with a list of proper %s based on game, car model, etc.

Thanks. Sounds... cool, I guess. I'm not sure how long I'll be playing to warrant the extra price though. I loved Forza 2, but after 30 hours or so the career mode suddenly became too difficult for me. I've heard you don't have to get into the top 3 in races in the new career mode, which is why I'm interested in the LCE (since I expect to be sticking with it longer).

Not that it matters anyway. I checked online sites here in Norway, and I couldn't find anyone who offered the LCE for preorder. Limited indeed.

Has anyone got an idea were I can get a decent wheel that will work with both GT and F3.
UK availability please,I had a look at the porche wheel but could not find a UK seller.

I also pre-ordered the special edition but the site said the Audi codes had ran out :(

Isn't 400k only Live Gold users a good number? That's a number without Silver Users? Or am I missing something?

yer I forgot about silver members, I just remember hearing about downloads of 1m+ for demos and thought Forza would be about the same, especially since thats world wide figure

The Fanatec website has an option for Great Britain. Does that not work for you?

There have been way more than 400k downloads of the demo. Can't say what the global number is officially but there it is.

That's good to hear. Wish you guys the best with sales.

I don't think everyone is aware of the leaderboards. It really adds to the game though. Perhaps T10 should have made it more obvious/accessible.

Yep I had no idea they existed.

I do agree the leaderboards provide some extra depth to the demo.

However, I've been finding myself enjoying the pure racing a lot more. The AI on hard is a lot of fun to battle against. And they don't get mad when I bash them out of the way on the last turn :D

Thanks again.

Suzuka looks a whole lot better than in FM2 to me. Colors and lighting look much better...though I suppose I'm judging from an off screen vid.

Will check out the Greenawalt presentation later today. I'm assuming it's mostly stuff we already know.
