Anyone got a clip of the forza footage yet?

I heard it's gotten good, I haven't seen it really...

The first season was really bad. The second season they've pretty much only done cheap car challenges. It's starting to get real old.

The hosting has improved a little bit but it is still pretty bad.

It doesn't have the chemistry, audacity, production values or music of Top Gear UK, but its gotten better with each episode.

Since I don't have cable, I won't get to see the latest episode until it hits Zune, tomorrow I guess.

edit: lol horrible quality

Just watched it, quality isn't too bad now.
Looks great in the snippets they showed, but was edited all over the place. Probably no more that ten seconds of total footage.

Dammit, Turn 10 - just release some direct-feed full laps of each view (inc a replay lap)! Don't you want people to appreciate your game in all its glory?

edit: watching American adverts is hilarious! There's really a TV programme (Top Shot?) based around throwing knives into boards? Awesome.

In the section I saw, yeah. Maybe more was shown elsewhere in the show? I saw the actual 'race'. Was there some warm-up bits maybe?

Hopefully Amusix has edited all the bits together for his YouTube upload.

Dude! Top Shot is awesome rofl. It's basically like Top Chef but with a bunch of marksmen. They compete in weapon challenges each week then vote people off. The show is filled with a bunch of slow-mo shots of stuff blowing up lol

That's where I just put it up on youtube...

I put the full segment up (was actually split up into a few parts) because it showcased the track quite well, and Seas Point (Infineon) is just an awesome course.

Sorry about the quality, as I said, when I recorded it, it was just for my own use, not intended for HD or full screen or anything.

Quality is fine, don't sweat it Amusix. Thanks for putting this up, I did miss a shed full of earlier footage in the stream I was watching.

Infineon looks amazing! IBL FTW.

Damn, Top Gear US is so bad. I just can't stand the bearded guy, he's so annoying that I want to slap him in the face each time he opens his mouth. Game looked very good at least and it's always good to see some gorgeous LFA action.

I rewatched some E3 videos yesterday and I was thinking of possibilities for next-gen Autovista. When we see what they manage on this generation, imagine the same thing but with multiple cars in the hangar. Think of the PGR3/PGR4/TDU garages but much much much more detailed. Also, think about the TDU customization options when you buy a car, it would be so cool to have have that and see the changes on those highly detailed models in real time.
Turn 10 could even license this for manufacturers so that when you go buy a new car at your local dealership, you have an Autovista model of the car on which you can modify colors, rims, finish, etc...
It would be much more interactive than looking at square of paints/leather or going through a website. Basically, you could really look at your future car, seat in it, etc...
I know, the amount of work seems insane on paper but the license fee + offering those cars for DLC + obtaining CAD directly from manufacturers could cover most of the cost and working time needed to make that happen.
I'm sure that down the line we'll see more promotional stuff in Autovista anyway, similar to the F10 M5 or the GT-R in Prologue. I mean, imagine, Ferrari announce their new super car meant to take the place of the Enzo and bam, same day you get to virtually seat in it and experience it in full Autovista glory, all without leaving you living room. That would be beyond awesome.

Thanks for uploading it. I wanted to close the windows, as soon as I saw the crappy Microsoft wheel. No Fanatec wheel, really?

I've been thinking this for a while, it potentially would be an awesome marketing device for car manufacturers.

I'm sure they'd even pay to have the car modelled, and we theoretically could have some DLC for free..

Sadly, my head says that even if a manufacturer where hot for the idea, MS would delay and charge us for the content..

I remember the GT5p Demo with the GTR that was unveiled at the Tokyo Show, you could then drive it on the track.. that endeared me to that car no end..

Yeah, the GT-R reveal was so awesome. Driving it with the black mask on before the official reveal, I want more of that please ! :)

Well that and driving in chase cam when in a pod... :-/

I think they have tons of them laying around. I work in retail and as part of their retail education program I was able to buy my ms wheel for $20 a couple years ago. Now it just sits in my closet collecting dust.

You guys can get the full episode on Final Gear. They only have SD version for now, but HD should be up soon.

*edit* OOops. Nm, it's the episode 6 not 7 -.-

Agreed.

Some guys in the Top Gear thread were saying how much better it is than the UK version, but after watching that segment I really cannot come to the conclusion as to why.

Jesus, G - that's a bit harsh. "Incubate" and "car lovers into gamers" does get a bit annoying, but there's no need for violence.

Top Gear UK got worse with the last two seasons. They had some good episodes, but overall I thought it was pretty bad. I can see how one can find the US guys annoying, but when they're on the challenges, it gets pretty good and with Tanner Foust, they even have a capable driver that doesn't need to be replaced by stunt drivers, unlike, lets say, Clarkson.

They're both different shows and I just find the US version more genuine and entertaining.

e: In one episode, Tanner tested and drove a prototype through a swamp and and the car died. They showed how one of the guys from the manufacturer tried to start it again, but it was dead. Fin. "Luckily, I had a replacement" and the segment went on. Can't remember the last time when I saw something like that on the UK version.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e_LlO1pd_TM#t=10m30s

e: I don't know if it's the script or YT uses now a different time stamp, but the segment I mentioned starts at 10:30.

Tanner Foust is the only redeeming thing in the show and the one who looks the most natural.
One other thing I really can't stand is the "back from commercials" segments though. I know US have more commercials breaks in their shows but I just hate the whole "Hey dumbass, we've just showed you a bunch of commercials so I'm sure you don't remember what you were watching two minutes ago, let me recap the whole episode for you".

:lol
Didn't even think about that. Although watching the Gamespot demo again had me rolling when Dan started to repeat "Incubate". :lol

Yeah, they don't have the luxury of the UK version. It hurt the first season pretty bad, because they tried to copy the UK version and wanted to shove everything (challenges, tests, interviews, news) in the 45 minute time-slot they had. Didn't work. Now they're at least trying to do their own thing, where one episode can consist of only one challenge, without all the other crap.

at 9:54 you see a closeup of the lfa.
Clearly visible and detailed interiors apparently, so i guess the 'full lod in time attack' still holds.

nitpicking, but in cockpit view arms look like they're coming from 'below' the wheel when you turn the wheel, like the driver's shoulders were much lower than his head.

And assisted driving model too.
They turned it on intentionally; they were sliding all over the track with all the assists off.

The American Top Gear isn't nearly as good as the British, but season two has been much better than the first.

thats what i use.

I have watched almost none of top gear US, but i really liked that clip. the italian guy (?) is really the only host i cant stand, beard guy is ok - and of course foust is awesome. i'll take a host that can honestly drive well over a mysterious stig.

lol if you think that is really clarkson playing

That was my first reaction, too, but they do show him wired up playing it and doing fairly well. And then later he was talking about braking for the Corskcrew section and he specifically mentions how you do it in GT(4?). I think it was for real.

have you watched fifth gear? mostly all the hosts are professional racing drivers, its not as good as top gear but its better than top gear US imo

The game is looking very good. The Rabbit GTI looked great in the menu select screen.
Did anyone notice a subtle camera effects when cars crashed?
The crashing sounds are much better as well.

I was a big hater of the US version of Top Gear. Obviously, the UK version can't and will not be beaten but as the US episodes continued, I've started to like it...

Not a lot on TG is for real, it's purely for entertainment value. That's how we like it!

Adam Ferrara, he's a stand up comedian, but I rarely find him funny either. Tanner and Ruthledge are sort of Richard and James, but in their own way.

I don't think it's as good as Top Gear UK (studio parts suck), but it's still quite enjoyable and it's nice to see some more cheap car challenges. And it's miles better than the first two seasons of Top Gear Australia.

The 2 guys playing are trying so hard to be funny that they end up sounding like idiots...
The Tanner Foust part were decent, though he should talk less and drive rather than make useless comments.
I usually enjoy watching Top Gear UK, its entertaining and funny but Top Gear USA is just a big piece of shit compared to it.

The FM4 parts shown weren't better than any other off-screen footage, Turn10 deserved a better media coverage...

Yeah, because one of the two didn't put up a competitive lap time, nope.

Lol 1:52 is not a competitive time for Infenion and neither is 1:44 for a car like the LFA and as mentioned they switched on all the assists, you can do Infenion in 1:30 in a Maxda MX 5 on iRacing.

The videogame guys should have been way faster than the real car, maybe if they raced in cockpit view it would have helped. The guy driving the real car seems to have no concept of racing lines and driftuus through every corner.
