"New button lay out was a little confusing"
Please explain...
Is there no custom button mapping?
Never has been and it is annoying.
When using a P911TS I always in inadvertently rewind when racing as I shuffle steer. In other racers I can map the buttons so the select and start buttons are turned off so I don't have that issue.
With all the new wheels coming out that will support FM4 having different configurations it would make sense to implement custom button mapping.
Don't take my Forza 3.2 comment to heart. Still stand by it but its coming from a perspective that values other things beyond Top Gear and Autovista which don't matter to me that much.
They put a lot of work into those things. Sure.
The reason why I feel disappointed is that there are some things they could have done that could have taken minimal effort and could have changed the game a lot for the better.
Qualifying for events or online racing would be easy to implement. It is basically a Time Trial with 2 laps. Record the time and compare it to the competition. All the code and what have you is already in the game they aren't reinventing anything here. Make it so people can skip it if they want and start them in last place or by car ranking. For those that do it give them a credits bonus for even trying. Qualifying can help drivers get used to the track with the particular car they are driving...but T10 can make this a fun feature.
False start option for online play. Maybe this is just me so I won't get into it. Still should be obvious that its easy to put in the game.
Autocross editor would add so much to the game. Have the person start out in the big parking lot in the Benchmark track or Top Gear TT and have him drive a car around. A track will be generated along the path this person drives with cone gates. You might not have cone slaloms but hey its a start. This will take some programming work but can you imagine all the cool tracks you could find on the storefronts? The programming effort would pay off it would add so much to the game. Another way to do it is to use the same sort of thing like the livery editor to place down cone gates to make a track. A lot of real life autocross tracks are designed this way anyway from a top down view.
Rally might be a lot to ask for but all they need to do is to tweak and perfect just one type of gravel surface and use that. Ever drive on the grass in Forza? Its not quite gravel but it makes you wonder with a little tweaking they could get it right. Model one set of rally hard compound tires made for gravel. Don't need tires for mud or wet. May take some work but it opens up a another world in the game.
You don't have to tell me I'm crazy for hoping for these things in the Forza series I know that already. Question is...am I crazy in thinking that these things are doable?
