finally made a clip of this
https://skydrive.live.com/redir?res...60&authkey=!AIh-ua6NQqIaesY&ithint=video,.mp4

note the blue bar by the speedo which shows my throttle pressure. this is a bug, yes?

op_ivy, try shortening the first gear ratio, and see if that helps your launch.
(speculating here, I will try this myself later today)

I investigated for you, and I was not far off. on the audi, just sorten the first gear ratio, set it to 3,5 or more. ;)

this happens because gear is long, but when you choose to use manual clutch, you only get to use a button for clutch. so its on/off, and this way you cannot reproduce the gradual release of the clutch needed for very long gearing.

Played a few races today. Game looks great but replay's take it to a whole new level. Damn.

Online is fun though dudes tend to ram right through me and still stay on the track. Pushing lvl10 and some of you guys are into the triple digits.

Fallen Xbot (cannot continue gaining levels in this class)
As I said earlier this exist with multiple cars in the series, I think there is a reason for it IRL but I dont have the automotive knowledge to tell you why.

yeah, thanks guys. its the only car i've seen it with personally. seems theres an explanation but still seems ike its in need of a fix for how the clutch works in fm5

Anyone else having an issue with stuttering replays? The video is smooth but the cars jump around like you are in a multi-player game with a bad connection.

My replays have started getting all screwed up in this. None of the cars move properly on the track anymore once the relays start. They kind of jerk around the track in an odd manner as though there is some kind of lag happening. It isn't just with my car, all the cars on the track have this unnatural movement to them. Anyone else getting this?

In the GAF races do you ever have mandatory pit stops? I always had these in my MP lobbies and they were very popular, introducing an extra element of strategy to proceedings and meaning the lead could change several times during the race. It had to work on an honour system but even with randoms it was generally respected. With an all-GAF race I'm sure this wouldn't be a problem. In (for example) a ten-lap race you had to pit once in laps 2, 3, 4 or 5 and once again in laps 6, 7, 8 or 9. Your choice exactly when you did this (eg if you were held up in traffic). Shorter races would just have one stop. Apart from the strategic element, pit stops added some excitement if several cars pitted at the same time or if a car you were chasing suddenly peels off into the pit lane, or if another car re-enters the race in front of you.

It's such a shame there aren't lobby options to enforce the pit stops or to adjust fuel usage and/or tyre wear to make the stops necessary. It's such an obvious and simple yet incredibly effective feature to add yet is criminally overlooked by racing game developers.

Anyway, worth trying if you haven't done so already.

Mas, no damage - no pitstops ;)

what time the update and cars go live? its almost evening over here t10!!

looks like our next race will be televised ..err youtube-ized :)

ps BADNED, any idea when we will get any news about NURBURGRING? is assetto corsa going to deliver it before t10?

The Ferrari again......can't we choose something out of left field?

Suggest something!

I have played with them before too. In a big field they add a lot. Not sure they make any sense if we only get six people out to a race.

Was why I wanted to do a LeMons-inspired race on Prague short with full damage: to encourage pitting as a viable action. There's a chance that the pole-sitter would escape unscathed, though.

How about V8 Supercars: #1 Holden Commodore and #5 Ford Falcon? Same tracks. I really wanted to do a race with these cars. They are a bit expensive though at 600k each. But I think it would be fun to drive them stock. Pretty sure everything on them is tunable. And I'm always up for suggestions, just name the car/track.

Unfortunately not. No XOne release in Croatia, noone I know bothered to import the console after all things related to XOne prior and after release.

Maybe one day but not soon I guess.

That's a shame, considering some of the things you said about F4 I think you'd really appreciate the improvements they made especially in regards to using a wheel. The driving is so much better, there's just not enough of it.

not enough of it to last forever.

I agree the driving is better, and this alone makes f5 the best forza yet.

now I know all the "problems" we usually list about small track selection and repetitive "story mode",
but here is the thing: I 've been playing the nfs rivals, a racing game that is more driven by other stuff and not precision in tracks and handling etc. you could say that the "story mode" is one of the things that a game like rivals would pay attention, right? and it does. story mode with narrative cutscenes etc.
thing is, 20-25 hours in, and it seems repetitive as hell.
and let me remind you, rivals is open world day/night cycle plus dynamic weather bf4 style, cops and racers dope shit... right?

I mean, playing through nfs, really made me realize the extend of "problems" I have with f5.. not many problems, are there? :)

I am level 20something in nfs in race career, and maybe around lvl 10 in cop career. I dont see me ...grinding all the way to lvl 60. and dont get me wrong here, I really like rivals.
Now, forza on the other hand, i already have clocked in 10x or 50x the time, and yet I have mastered no track, no car, no class. just fooling around here and there in the leagues, and occasionally spending more time with a car that grabbed my interest.

so, if I was to say out of which game i still have more time to have fun with, the 25 hours in, story driven, open world nfs rivals, or the 10000000 hours in, sandbox racing, forza 5..
I guess I would choose the latter, easily..

BUT I still want the storefront, the open lobbies and ring/suzuka/tsukuba etc to return as fast as possible. and more detailed leaderboards. like fuckin'yesterday!!! :)

now, be it the ferrari, the v8 or the d class 'leMons' massacre , this sunday I am in!

FM6 could make me buy a bone if the game gets an overhaul. FM5 isn't enough for the overall cost though.

add titanfall to the equation, so divide the cost by two and win! ;PppP

maybe add horizon 2@september too, to sweeten the deal even more if you like to look frwd to things.. ;)

Yeah story modes get old quickly, keep them short and sweet but if you are going to offer a sandbox instead it should be larger and deeper than we have. The only tracks I couldn't drive blindfolded right now are Silverstone (boring) and Yas Marina (dog shit). A career mode that brings together the sandbox elements would be nice. I have no incentive to tune or paint when they are readily available but if I had to or was rewarded I might.

One thing I respected about GT5 was that it wasn't afraid of being long, difficult and frustrating. I felt forced to learn the cars and circuits to pass challenges or win races and therefore the sense of achievement was greater.

FM5 has probably the most boring career of the franchise so far.

Looks like it'll never end.

But I think it's more the feeling of being stuck in the series with no way to change or tune a car. I could've made career into my own game where I tune my cars for online.

The only very good thing about this game for me has been Friday and Saturday nights ... epic lobbies pretty much every weekend. That is saving this game.

I have not played this game since launch., has anything changed? Patches, Any updates?

This game didn't click with me like FM4. i felt it was s tep back. and to be honest the graphics didnt blow me away either.

I have the Car Pass but can't download the Smoking Tire pack without paying for it. I see mention of the issue on FM.net but no resolution.

Have you applied today's update, the 680MB one?

If so, then just start the game and you can buy the cars at the dealers. No need to buy the pack in the store. The Car Pass already unlocks the new cars for you in the game.

Oh OK. Thanks a lot.

Edit: So the DLC system is much improved now. I though it might make the car packs single user, like VIP, but they're still available to everyone in the house. Good deal.

The amount of details still continues to amaze me :

Lovely shots as always, G Rom. You always manage to show the game at its absolute best.

As difficult as the reduced car list makes justifying Forzavista-caliber models, as someone who loves ogling cars both real and digital, I'm actually glad Turn 10 has modeled as many as they have at this level of detail. It's some of the filthiest, most hardcore car porn yet, and for that, I adore it.

If nothing else, they've got some truly future-proofed content, as I honestly can't see these models needing reworking, (outside of better shaders and such), at least until Kinect 3.0 and its Smell-O-Vision functionality demands recapturing assets in order to deliver that New Car Smell (TM).

That sounds awesome too. Lets do it. We'll save the Holden/Falcon races for another week. Gives people time to save up for one of them. I'll post an updated weekly race post later tonight.

The reason I find the car count complaining silly, is because there are still 100's of cars I haven't driven. Its not do to lack of money, but lack of time.

Its not silly at all, my favorite 10 or 50 cars are not the same as yours, many people lost lots of their favorite cars in the transition from Forza 4 to Forza 5. The point of having lots of cars its not people driving them all, its people finding their favorite cars no matter what they are into, exotics, muscles cars, djm, hatchbacks, rally, etc.

-------------------------------------------------------------

A question, I have read some comments that the career mode is boring, does still have cones, trackdays, multiclass and other type of events other than just racing?

Switching it up based on SoundScream's suggestion for this weekends races.
Stock 2008 Viper SRT 10 same tracks as I mentioned before. Bernes Alps: Alps Club - 7 laps and Laguna Seca - 7 laps. Everyone is welcome to join us on Sunday at 2:00pm EST. Don't be caught playing NFS:Rivals,

:lol

Between his forays into BF, COD, and now potentially NFS, one has to wonder just where, exactly, our favorite Greek's loyalties lie. Although perhaps it's for the best, given that the only shot I have at catching p3tran in the standings is if he's MIA playing something else.

Viper ACRs for Sunday is a great choice. I'm not really into upgrading so I appreciate a good stock-only race.
