Foundation (Isaac Asimov) - Official Trailer

S1 of For All Mankind is great, s2 takes a lot of stumbles as they try to find plots for the spouses. Like a lot of shows, the attempt to create actor gender parity in what is an inherently gendered main plot (somewhat historic space race in this case) leads to a lot of family home drama nonsense that just detracts from the cool Cold War in spaaaaaaaaace aspect. But s2 ends strong and S3 ought to be dope so I'm still onboard.

But really, The Expanse is the template and s6 needs to come right now!

Made it to episode three and sort of fell off. Does it get better, because what I have seen looked good but sure wasn't very interesting. I went in without expecting it to be like the books, I read and loved the first three years back.

I'm current with the episodes and here's my opinion:

The terminus plot is blah.
The magic-math-chick plot is blah.
The empire plot is interesting.

Show is still super pretty.

The show is a bit of a disappointment. The fundamental problem is that it is extremely uneven. You have great acting in one scene and cringe in the next. But when it is good it is really really good.

It has been 20 years since I read the Foundation books, but what I saw in the first couple of episodes that I watched looked is nothing like what I remembered. The whole terrorist bombing thing in the first epidote. Where did that come from?

it was inspired by The History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire like Game of Thrones by the Wars of the Roses so interpersonal melodrama is baked in. it's just not up to that level (or The Expanse which is doing what it wants to do better, with a much lower budget)

it's unfortunate because I like all the actors, cgi is gorgeous etc. the writing is just not particularly compelling. i didnt like what i read of the original books either, although it did allow me to appreciate Hitchhikers Guide more as Foundation is what it's a parody of

there isnt much must see tv right now so im not not watching it.
The Expanse Is the real deal. Superb sci-fi

All the characters suck except for Lee Pace and who ever plays his android D-rez.
Warden on that terminus planet is unlikable and one note. She's tough, and better than people around her. Those are her two traits.

Magic math girl who grew up in an illiterate village can read space ship trajectory because she does math real good i guess, and she can feel the future too why not.

Only plot interesting enough is Lee Pace and hari seldon to be honest, acting wise they are great. Wait tho those are 2 white men carrying that cast of diversity. Cancel me now.

Best thing was Wardens big tough smuggler boyfriend who is ABSOLUTELY USELESS! Like, pre-2015 that character would be the star of the show but now he's a bit player but casting didn't get the memo.

You mean like the fake Meghan Markle mom riding the dead son's best friend in a bomb shelter in her bar's basement. Nah, not a stumble. Inevitable.

Which is awful cause only one of those is in the book and it isn't the empire one!

They did such a bad job with this show. My friend is a big SciFi show/feminist and even she is kinda of done with it.

The quality of the show us really really good but they went off script too much. They have all the money I the world and could have easily done the first book up as 4, 2 episode, sections with a unifying thread. But no, they did, whatever this is... It sure looks good though

Watching Foundation, and it's gotten slow. Glad to see the actor from Strike Back getting work and screen time. Yea, the first episode was fantastic.

I don't mean to hijack the topic, but if you like sci-fi and Apple TV, For All Mankind is a much, much better show in every aspect than Foundation.

In an alternate timeline, in 1969 a Soviet cosmonaut, Alexei Leonov, becomes the first human to land on the Moon. This outcome devastates morale at NASA, but also catalyzes an American effort to catch up. With the Soviet Union emphasizing diversity by including a woman in subsequent landings, the United States is forced to match pace, training women and minorities who were largely excluded from the initial decades of U.S. space exploration.

Apparently the shows producers want 80 episodes to tell the story..

I've lost interest after 8.

This thing won't see more than two seasons.

It’s ironic that 2/3rds of the show are “black woman is special and has superpowers” are the most boring bits while the one third that is starred by white men is what’s interesting.

Trying my best here but man alive this show is horrendous.

I get it, Foundation is hard to film. I don’t mind additions and deviations, but almost all are asinine. Gaal’s character has been massacred, Salvor’s action hero turn is hysterical, Farrah is too generic to even comment on, and the changes to the vault make absolutely zero sense.

The show will need one heck of a teaser to next season for me to watch past next weeks finale.

Goddamn it I really wanted this show to be brilliant, the original trailers made it look incredible but reading all your thoughts about it I think I'll hard pass, I'd be surprised if this gets a S3 and with so many excellent shows out there competing for my small amount of TV time sounds like I'm gonna skip it, fucking pity as I'd love a great epic sci-fi drama to get into

Finally got around to watching this. (backstory i have no information on this show other than this tv show). I fucking love it. I am on episode 8 and really really enjoying the story. Love all the characters and atmosphere.

Yet again, it seems like the people who dont like it are the book people. I ignore those reviews because those people are never satisfied.

Same! The show is hecka engaging! I stopped at Episode 8 last night and will hopefully finish it today! I think Salvor is really Gaal's and Rasch's child (I forgot his name spelling). She basically has Gaal's powers. Remember, they can have the embryos taken out and saved for later to give birth to.

I'm really looking forward to a change in Day... He seemed really affected by what Demerazel said about not seeing a vision.

Just finished this season. Never read Foundation., but loved the show, loved, loved it. Especially everything to do with Empire. Love the concepts it explores, the acting by Lee Pace, he has a very unique look. The story, world building, the scale, the ambition, it's so pretty.
The show really got to me with episode 3 and the Cleon Legacy story.
