Four Michigan men charged in drunken horse and buggy ride
Drunken joyrides aren’t just for automobiles.
Police in Beaverton, Mich, on Sunday got a complaint from a person driving a car — like a real one, with a motor and everything — who said that four men who appeared to be drunk were riding a horse-and-buggy down the road, tossing beer cans out onto the ground as they traveled.
Police arrived and, thanks to the person who made the call, identified the intoxicated quartet. Cops said that all four men were under the influence, and they found several containers of alcohol (open and unopened) when they investigated the buggy.
Though they initially lied about their ages and refused to give their names, the four were eventually identified, found to all be between the ages of 19 and 20, and arrested. They were each charged with obstruction of justice and being a disorderly person, plus they all got citations for being minors in possession of alcohol.
This is at least the second time in the past few months that the police have gone after a drunken Midwestern horse-and-buggy ride. In North Bloomfield, Ohio, back in September, a pair of Amish men got pulled over by the cops for blasting music out of a stereo system in the buggy while drinking a 12 pack of Michelob Ultra. The men escaped police by ditching their ride (including the horse) and running into a forest.

They look like a 15th century cross between Shrek and The Beatles.
