So basically the only differentiation is time and a story that makes it a mantle. So basically...any and all comicbook superhero personas can become mantles to include Nightwing.

No, the differentiation is that one identity waa created with the idea of

"Boy has life changed by crime, becomes nightmare of criminals"

And the other is

"Young crime fighter feels crushed by shadow of mentor, becomes his own hero to escape it."

Nightwing being a title passed down from former Robin to former Robin misses the entire point of the name.

Do I think it can't/shouldn't be passed on? Hell no. But the idea of it being a step on the way to Batman is awful.

If it's ever picked up again it should be in the same spirit. Some young hero looking to find himself sees the name, goes to the last person to use it to respectfully ask permission, then becomes a hero unaffiliated with that one.

Alternatively some punk kid picks it up without asking anyone then eventually proves she's every bit as worthy as anyone else to have it.

They can. I'm not saying that there aren't any that can't be inherited, there are just some that I think shouldn't. But if there's a good story around it, by all means go ahead.

Nightwing was explicitly DIck's thing. You become Robin and then you go out on your own. You become your own hero/whatever. Or you inherit the cowl. Either way, Nightwing should remain as Dick.
Isn't Dick the second Nightwing?

Cannot wait to see reactions to this.

It gets weirder. The original (1960s) Sons of the Serpent were lead by one General Chen from an unspecified Asian country who was getting racists to do hate crimes to spread disorder and prove that democracy doesn't work.

Thanks for this, i thought i had heard the name before. So why is Fox only getting their collective panties in a knot now, when Marvel's been calling out racist sockpuppetry for 50 years?

Because this time the lead character is black.

If you want Captian America without the commentary, then might i suggest The Fighting American.

Due to a settlement with Marvel, the Fighting American can't be depicted throwing his shield
He got that Rob Liefel Dafoe-inspired mouth.

I can pretty much instantly think of an interesting story about terrorism being about conditions and a chain of retribution, let's say, instead of a big obvious giant robot you can beat up. So i dunno brah.

so you want Ultimates 2 then

amazon have them

Superman's adopted son(long story) adopted the Identity. But it turned out later he was the living embodiment of the old Kryptoian God Nightwing, their god of dark and what not

God I hated that they aged Chris up. Really wanted a Damien Wayne/Irey West/Chris Kent Young Justice

Anthony Mackie: 'Sorry Donald, That Wasn't An Endorsement'

Anthony Mackie may want to reconsider telling political jokes, judging from his recent failed comments about Donald Trump.

The actor, who's promoting his upcoming film, “Our Brand Is Crisis,” shared his thoughts during an interview with BET.com on the 2016 presidential candidates. When asked if he'd prefer to run Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump's campaign, Mackie explained why he would select Trump.

“I would 100 percent want to run Trump's campaign. 100 percent," he said. "I mean, first that'll be the best party ever when he won, and second, Trump's an easy sell..."

"When you look at Trump, he's an easy sell because you can sell him as the guy who worked his way up from nothing. And I think if you're a 'pull yourself up by your bootstraps' candidate, people would identify with that."

Unfortunately, Mackie's thoughts on Trump didn't bode too well with fans on social media, who disapproved of the actor’s comments. He later clarified his statement via Twitter on Monday afternoon.
