spending my afternoon updating everything to my new email :)

i was trying to delete my disney+ account because i never use it. they don't let you access your account at all if you aren't subscribed so i paid £5 for the shitty ad tier. i thought oh i might watch something so i'm not wasting my money....

there are like fucking 5 things to watch on it. it's all junk and i can't even watch star wars and there's only a few marvel movies. it says i can't watch star wars. there's not even pixar movies. i don't know what happened.

so fuck it i'll delete it.... oh what a bloody nightmare! i can't even log in now to change my email. it says my password is invalid so i try to get a code sent to my email. i put that in and that's not valid.

i've sent them a GDPR request to delete all my data. fuck them.

update on changing my email.

i've just been robbed £30 to update my email on my cats microchip.

£10 per cat 😹😹😹

No treats for them today! jk of course they'll still get their treats <3

Update 2 not that you care:

surprisingly got most of my emails updated. Still got some to change but shouldn't be too much trouble. Will do it later. I have cut down a lot on how many accounts I have over the years so makes sense. Have a few accounts I need to contact support for so should be able to update them soon.

So, I’m going to Super Nintendo World today at Universal, and I accidentally got here 2 hours early. (Got the weekend/weekday times mixed up.) When I got here, there was literally not a single person here, even workers and security, so I snuck inside. I eventually got kicked out, but now I’m first in line to get back in.

I feel like a kid again. This is gonna be fun lol.

Trying to decide on getting one of these games to play:

Or

Or

I’m leaning toward the first one even though I won’t get a chance to play until after Halloween.

Dude Super Nintendo World was incredible. It’s not the biggest park ever, but it’s so jam-packed with details that it’s a Mario fan’s wet dream. Every single nook and cranny had some kind of Nintendo reference or easter egg, and the stupid little wristband made it really fun to track your “progress” through the park, unlock secrets, and get all the achievements.

The food was very mid, though. Way too expensive, and not particularly good. But that’s pretty normal for park food.

The Mario Kart ride was INSANELY fun. It turns out it’s less of a ride and more of a game, but not like a “theme park game”, like an actual game. It’s not easy, and the skill ceiling is insanely high. I ended up literally cyber-and-then-IRL stalking some of the top players, who I actually met at the park, and I got a ton of strats.

I could write a whole post about the MK ride, but I’ll save you guys from having to read all that shit. Just know that the gameplay is a lot deeper and more difficult than you’d expect. The ride is usually a 30-60 minute wait, but thanks to the single rider line, I was able to ride it about 30 times over the course of two days.

But easily the best and most unexpected thing about the park was the MUSIC. Almost every single tune was a completely bespoke arrangement of classic Mario tunes. The orchestrated songs in the Toadstool Cafe were especially incredible. Yeah, a fuckin new and official arrangement of Gusty Gardens, SMW ending, Bob-omb Battlefield, and like 7 or 8 more.

The music was so good that I bought an early-access pass and talked the staff into letting me into the cafe before they opened just so I could record the entire set of music on my phone. (It’s not available online anywhere, so I intend to try and clean it up and upload it at some point.)

If you’re a huge Mario fan like me, you’d love this park. (I saw probably as many 30-something guys there as I did kids lol) This park really cemented the idea that videogame-based parks can definitely work. I’d love for there to be a Zelda park or even a Sony park someday.

Think I've fucked up a side quest in Dragon's Dogma 2. Got all the way to the end but did something that fucked it all up me thinks. Annoying af. Not gonna troubleshoot. Time for some Calistoooooo

Finished the quest. Had to look it up because the quest info was kinda weird.

Also rescued a dude's brother. While doing so he and his doofus brother got stuck on a tall ledge because ofcourse they would follow me on a don't blink or you fall random mountain side treasure looksie.

All hail the carry mechanic. And yes I had to do that twice ffs lmao

What a way to wake up. First bother Con_Z_ǝdʇ Con_Z_ǝdʇ with a 19 min voicemessage while drinking coffee and now this haha. Blessed.

Dacvak Dacvak I wouldn't mind a more thorough breakdown of the Mario Kart ride. Let's say I'm very intriguid.

Only if you want brother.

Are there multiple NinLands? Must be..

I'm not such a fan to have your experience. I could feel the passion in your words haha so I would miss out on a lot references.

I fact seeing the Mario movie last weekend made that clear enough lol. Mostly from the last decade in stuff like the soundtracks.

I'm taking my first holiday this year in November which is Friday. Don't know what the fuck I'm going to do. Lose some weight I guess.
What do you mean? What kind of holiday? Travelling? Off work? First this year or this year is the first time?

I need answers man.

lol I finish work this Friday and I’m off for a week! :D I was going to cancel it but I need it.

Don’t really have anything planned…well this weekend I’m going to do a little road trip. It’s a long story but going to see a house. I think I’m going to sell it.

maybe some more travelling if I can find good train ticket prices. I could drive I suppose… I don’t know what to do yet.

Other than that I’ll just be catching up on some games and watching movies.

Here’s a really good write up of the basic strategies on reddit:

The other strategies come from figuring out the positions of each racer (they usually appear in the same place at the same time, but then can vary where they go from there). Each koopaling can be hit 3 times, with increasing coins each time. But they can be hit by your teammates in your car. So if you want to maximize your score, you either have to hit the koopaling all three times yourself, or wait until a teammate hits them once and quickly double-tap them for more coins. Kill-stealing is a big part of it.

Then, learning the timing on some of the bigger enemies (like the bone fish) so you’re min-maxing your hits and not wasting shells is a big deal.

Oh, I forgot to even mention, while all of this is going on, you also have to steer to “drift” during the whole ride. These red arrows pop up in your headset, and you have to steer in that direction. One thing the ride never tells you is that the longer you steer in that direction, the more coins you get (kind of like “charging” up your drift in normal MK). So one of the first things you have to do in order to get good is basically memorize all or most of the drift turns, and pre-turn into them. This way you’re not distracted from the main mechanic of shooting enemies.

Also it’s worth noting that your steering never actually affects what your car does, nor any of the visuals in the game. It’s literally just an extra thing to keep track of while you ride. But I like it, it keeps things frantic, and it’s rewarding once you memorize the turns.

Aiming is done with your head, so wherever your head is pointed is where the shells will shoot, and they can fly through the air or glide on the ground. It took me a LONG time before I got good at aiming. There’s no reticle or anything, so it really is just something you have to practice.

Another thing to note is apparently the inside track (the left one if you’re boarding the ride) is better for maxing out coins. It’s slightly easier to aim at some enemies, plus the outside track has a weird glitch where two koopalings can’t be hit at a certain part in the race, which is frustrating. To give you more context, the world record on the inside track is 313, but only 287 on the outside track.

Shell management is a big part of the game too. You get item blocks automatically throughout the race in various amounts, and you can always see your total at the bottom of your visor. Optimizing how many shells to have at any given point during the race turned out to be crucial.

So, overall, it’s mainly two things: memorization, and aiming skill, with a bit of strategy based off of who else is in your car (and if they’re a good shot, etc)

The guy who has the world record who helped me with strats said the theoretical maximum score is 355, with the current record being 313. And he’s a dude who rides the ride almost everyday or something, so there’s clearly a high skill ceiling. And a bit of RNG, depending on your teammates.

I suspect that most people who ride the ride will be disappointed, especially if they waited an hour and only rode it once. I was very underwhelmed like the first 2 or 3 times I rode it. But because the singles line was always immediate, I kept grinding, and eventually it clicked on my 6th or 7th try, and I was hooked after that.

It’s such a Nintendo thing to add basically hidden mechanics in an otherwise completely casual experience. And it’s a testament to how difficult the ride can be, since no one has gotten close to maxing out the score yet.

But I think for anyone who’d just ride it 1-3 times, it’s not really all that great.

I don't know what to do with my free time either. I'm not a workaholic. I just work towards financial stability.

Everyone asks me where I'm going to go. I'm like fuck y'all, do you know how tired I am from this year? I'm not going to spend all my money so I can come back to rinse and repeat the torture again. Crazy mofos.

I'm just going to lose some weight, I guess.
