Anyway, you are given a choice to replace whichever, local or the cloud, save when there is conflicting scenarios, just like Steam and Playstation.
I don't think Xbox has changed this policy, unless you chose to overwrite your local save with the cloud one.

Nah I have ok internet but Microsoft has always had a lack of respect for player tolerance for updates compared to Nintendo and Sony. Not just in terms of frequency, but size too. Every time I switch on my Xbox it's a coin flip as to whether it's going to want do download something, meaning I'm going to be waiting when I want to be gaming. So I just unplug the thing.

so you only disconnect your Internet randomly when using your Xbox? Stop disconnecting it like you do on your PS and you won’t have issues
If you are getting constant updates you might have some bigger issue. I’ve never seen my xsx install updates it just does it when I sleep

No, I unplug the Xbox from the router. I don't enable downloads in rest mode, I fully power all my consoles off.
Xbox favours a disproportionate ratio of updates compared to the other two, by far. Always has.
Tbf i thought this was going to be about how its completely pointless to own an xbox now, which is the feelings I had last year when rumours stared they were going third party. What pisses me off most is i spent an absolute fortune on xbox games and now i cant access them anywhere. Should be able to download them on PC.
Damn that sucks ass putting all that playtime and for that to happen. It's weird though the system should know the console has the newer save file and ask if you want to override it with the cloud one or sync your console save to the cloud to overwrite whatever is in the cloud. I'm pretty sure that's what happens when I had a previous situation like yours.

They're going to have to deliver really compelling hardware and software at a solid price. And if their exclusives get a 1 year window on their platform...I can see how that might entice people.
It's an uphill battle for sure, though. Sony and Nintendo are just too strong, though Sony has had some real head-scratching moves over the past year.

Don’t have anything to add other than Black is obectively the best version but I also love the PS3 edition of Sigma. The version of Sigma in the Master Collection is based off the Vita Plus version which a lot of folks never bring up. It doesn’t look as good as whats on the PS3.

Happend with me on Saints & Sinners on PS5.
I got some strange errors inside the game when loading into different maps, I restart the game and save is gone... and since I restarted the game PS+ had uploaded the broken save to the cloud overwriting my save.
The save was a 175 ingame days (Roughly 175 hours) ruined.
Wish we could've had two slots that alternated to prevent things like this.

Ehh one thing xbox does better than the competition. Im out of town playing Indy on the xcloud on my deck knowing when I get back home to my series x my save just loads. Of course current ms just half ass this feature to limit it to gamepass games but imagine if the og xbox team doing this.

Never had an issue like this on Xbox during all these years. And I play offline a lot, so there were many instances of saves being out of sync. Whenever there was a choice to make, the console prompted me to decide.
Maybe they introduced a bug or a regression somewhere in their process, but until now it was fine as far as I am concerned.
But I largely prefer when saves were on the cartridges, that's for sure. There was no issue and you can even lend the game with the save to someone. It just worked, hassle free. No everything is tied to stupid accounts.

It sounds like you've found an unreported cloud save bug. I can't imagine there are too many people that play an OG XB game offline after uploading an initial cloud save.Ok here comes the science bit. Concentrate.
I tested it with RE5 and you do get the prompt if there's a discrepancy between your saves. It's a large screen which pops up, takes a split second before allowing an input, and defaults to cancel, so it's impossible to mash through, let alone overwrite. This screen did not appear when loading up NGB. Maybe it's a OG Xbox game issue, I dunno. Still stinks. Fuck Xbox.
Well balls. Be nice if it told you this when you go offline.
Doesn't make it any less annoying, though. It's a pretty big oversight to bulldoze over a save without a prompt.

Things like that have happened in Steam as well.
It is on developers to implement cloud saves correctly and don't do some dumb shit that will lead to newer saves overwritten - at least Steam DOES ask you what to do if it detects something odd.
This OP issue sounds like a mix of lacking XBox functionality (asking user what to do) and devs messing something up.

OP didn't do that because it's a different issue with this game, but surely you can't actually mash your way through overwriting a save to the cloud like that? It's got to default to not overwriting, right?

Yep. This happens on all three consoles. I’m not sure why it happened differently for this guy. It’s pretty much idiot proof.
