I'm just finishing Episode 3

After watching so much of Full House growing up with the family around the tube (it was more of my mom and sister's thing but I still liked it), I owed it a shot.

It scratches the right itches. Deciding to film it in front of a live audience did wonders for helping it feel legit.

Max is really funny. Gotta give props to the new cast. Returning cast is looking great too.

I laughed at Jesse saying, "Don't make me give myself the Becky special." The baby grabbing the second burger was also hilarious. :)

I don't quite remember if there were many risqué jokes in Full House. Some of them in Fuller House do feel a little out of place, but they're not frequent enough to detract from the main tone of the season.

Stephanie isn't a successful DJ and kimmy is just getting her business off the ground.

In the first episode, she says that she's booked for months straight in locations across the globe. She knows Macy Gray personally. If the writers want us to think she's a struggling musician they aren't doing a very good job of it.......maybe there's some revelation that lies beyond the 3-4 episodes I've seen though.

Kimmy's presence can kinda be explained by her divorce and her bizarre obsession with the Tanner family I suppose.

For some reason, I watched the first three episodes of this yesterday despite never seeing an episode of Full House. It's fascinating to me on how one could study nostalgia just from the construction of the show. Also, it has a couple good jokes an episode.

I'm kind of embarrassed about how much I'm enjoying this so far?

Like on the surface I can kinda see it as a grasp-at-nostalgia that is designed to pander specifically to me, and conceptually that sounds bad.

But actually watching it... shit. I grew up watching Full House, I forgot just how much of that show I've seen, and just how familiar all of the characters feel. It's like seeing old friends. I guess it helps that it's pretty well put together, and that there's some real love and reverence for the original behind it that makes it less of a "Hey, remember the thing you liked??????" and more of a real continuation. It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside, which is.. really all Full House was ever supposed to do, right?

Feels sufficiently strange to once again have a crush on Jodie Sweetin.

As a budding trans kid I wanted to be Stephanie Tanner, as an adult trans woman I want to be Stephanie Tanner.

That's really cute!

...and I totally don't blame you.

Stephanie Tanner is just the best.

Finished the series and Full House is on Netflix here. Stephanie confirmed GOAT lol.

Max is great but man Jodie Sweetin's charisma is off the charts. You can see that even then she was the best actor lol.

Btw there's a lot more sexual jokes in the original than I thought.

Jesse makes a joke about dating a stripper.

"I'm dating a ballerina... okay a topless ballerina"

Watched 3 episodes so far.

I don't get the negative critics. It's goofy and cheesy and nostalgic...but what else would you expect from a sequel to Full House?

Alright, now that I've seen the 2nd episode... got a lot of hope for this series (I think so far I like it better than the original but that may be because it's more relevant to today).

That first episode was very cringeworthy though (until the parents from the first series left and then the episode started giving you a feel for what it was going to be like). And I kinda expect first episodes to not be so good (usually theyr'e still getting a feel for their audience. Usually you'll find by the second episode or so they start getting it right). But the first one on this one was worse than usual.

Finished up. Kimmy and DJ fit into their roles well. Stephanie is boring, just Uncle Jesse Lite.

The kids are all pretty forgettable. Kimmy's daughter is OK, just because she's different from the original show.

The show is OK when it's not shamelessly knocking off the original show.

lol...this is the first thing i thought of when the olsen twins said they wouldn't do the show...pretty funny that they really asked the younger sister elizabeth's agent to see if she'd do it.

Their decision initially led the remaining cast, we have now learned, to get inventive. John Stamos (a.k.a. Uncle Jesse) revealed on Andy Cohen’s Sirius show Monday that there was an actual attempt made to see if . . . Elizabeth might be interested in taking on the role. “I don’t think this has been talked about,” he said. “I didn’t do it, I think Jeff Franklin did. I said, ‘Call the sister [Elizabeth Olsen]. Ask her’ . . . We talked to her agent and her agent was like, ‘Come on, she’s not going to do that,’ but we did call her agent.”

Episode 11 is like Tumblr think piece bait, so cringeworthy. Whitest family in America indeed.

Hm?

He "flew in from Vegas" to babysit for 4 hours. There is no show. Joey lives in a van around the corner with a woodchuck puppet and a bunch of super soakers.

cut it out :(

6 episodes in and this is a lot of fun. I get the exact same feeling as when I was younger and watched the OG Full House. That's mission accomplished.

While it is a fun show and the nostalgia is thick you can easily use it and the previous show how comedy has changed. IE the sex/boob jokes etc

Me and the wife are binging this right now. Right in the nostalgia bone.

Me too. I'm about 3 episodes in and I'm laughing my ass off. It's every bit as good as the original. I really like how Stephanie has stepped into the Jessie role so perfectly. I think she's actually stealing the show.

All them are funny as hell though. Without a doubt I'm glad they did this. I really had my doubts but they should be proud of it.

I'm down to the final episode and I don't want to watch it because holy chalupas I don't want it to end. This show has really taken me back this weekend, helped me relive those TGIF days.

Bring on Season 2!

Yup. I just feel like a kid again watching the show. I remember watching Full House, Family matters, Step by Step, etc on Fridays. I never could wait for Fridays to come.

For whatever reason, I can't be too hard on this show. Not my cup of tea (and neither was the original). It's a bit of family friendly campiness next to other Netflix programming like Hemlock Grove, Daredevil, Jessica Jones, House of Cards, and so on. Good move on them to bring it back.

I'm not sure I dug Stephanie being a stoner party girl.
Seemed a bit far fetched.

Oh, and that Steve
boner joke
in Episode 10 was golden.

Three episodes in and I'm enjoying it. I'm not sure if I would have tuned in if I'd never seen the show before and wasn't familiar with the characters (not that I watch many sitcoms anyway), but it really is a nice bit of nostalgia, and I've laughed out loud a couple of times. I even think the kids are pretty good, though so far Max (the middle one) seems to have the most to work with as the stock precocious kid.

Will probably finish watching the season, since it's a nice show to turn on when you just want to relax. I think Netflix really is an ideal home for it - it targets a very specific group of adult and family watchers, and if it were on a traditional broadcast network on a regular schedule I don't know if it would perform very well, especially since the TV environment has changed so drastically since the 90's.

On the flipside, I realized the dark side of nostalgia when they mentioned in the first episode that Joey was almost 60 years old... like, holy crap, way to make me feel my age, Netflix :p

I really want Family Matters on Netflix. They need to make it happen.

Yesterday, being in the mood I picked a random season 6 episode from the original series and Danny mentioned being 35, which is my age. It messed me up for a minute.

I think you watched a different show. Stephanie boring? Max forgettable?

Despite some gripes, I'm loving it.

From the theme song, to the humor (Episode 10 was fucking hysterical), it just hits every note I wanted it to.

I'm on Episode 12 now, but I'm not ready for it to end yet. I'm definitely down for more seasons.
