Shit is getting wild on reddit

Good, honestly. There's zero reason we can't have some of the QoL, specifically the better shops and no synchro cooldown/cost. Buffing the older useless units would be nice too, but I doubt they'll do it. On top of all of that, they need to do a lot better on the loading times. This is a hundreds of millions of dollars game that made the CEO one of the top 50 richest in Korea. No excuse for the piss poor performance on a L2D shooting game, even on a high end PC. CN version is 1/10th the loading times on the same device.

Also, manufacturer molds at least should have guarantee or pity, if not the normal gold/purple ones.

ShiftUp gets a lot of leeway for how slow their content pipeline is and what little they offer.

Also the Rapi cuck meme gets me every time.

The 2nd CBT for Duet Night Abyss coming soonish. I won't even bother to apply since I never get into these CBTs, but I'll be keeping an eye for player impressions to see what's up with 'Waifuframe'.

I am extremely skeptical about this game, many have tried to repeat the Warframe formula so far, no one has succeeded, here it is further aggravated by the fact that this is Gacha. Warframe has one of the best FTP models among all games, in fact, everything in the game is available to you without investing money, plus the game has its own market, where players can trade items from the game to receive premium currency, and this is approved by the game developer and is not prosecuted by them in any way. Therefore, if you actively play and farm, you have everything you need. I have played 1481 hours in this game according to the statistics on my PS5 and my expenses for the entire time were 0$, while at the time of leaving the game I had all the Prime Frames that were available at that time (I farmed some myself, bought some through the market from other players), I left because the game began to take too much time and too much farming. But in terms of FTP, it is unlikely that anyone can compete with Warframe.

I've put like 100 hours into Warframe myself back in 2016 or 2017, so I'm a very casual player, but I do remember using the market quite a bit to get the stuff I needed. By the way, check out the 2nd CBT trailer. They're using Castorice's ult at 01:19 in the video (timestamped). At 0:20, you can see Mt. Firmament, and at 0:24, Rinascita. :messenger_grinning_sweat:

This is one of the reasons why I don't like this game much. They copy too much stuff, in one of the first videos they had a girl in a cowboy outfit with two pistols, her ultimate and moveset were copied 1 in 1 from Mesa (Warframe). I still want to see the idea and thoughts of the developer, and not just a set of assets ripped from other games.

LMAO this is blatant as fuck, Mt. Firma, Rinascita at least 2 times, 0:38 is that 3d movement gear from AttaCUCK on Titan, 0:55 I could swear I saw this animation somewhere? 1:15 is chibi phoebe followed by Temu Yennefer, 1:17 is literally encore's ult, 1:18 is very inspired by neuvilette, 1:24 gives me massive Traveler and Maviuka vs Abyss fight from Natlan, and then in the same second castorice.

BuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuV, get the fuck ouuuutta here with that bullshit xD

I don't know if I should post this here but I want you lot to give it a look

It's available on PC (EPIC), PS5 and mobile

Played a bit on launch today and it seems very solid. Is it P2W? I don't know about that yet

I just tried it on PS5
The game's budget was about 3 bags of rice, the game just screams - "I was made for phones! They forced me to PS5, it's not my fault!" :messenger_tears_of_joy:
A very simple, typical phone MMO that uses individual maps.

What I liked - game has a class that fights without weapons.
What I didn't like - gatcha system is items that change the appearance of the character, but they have stats that affect the character.
Crystal-of-Atlan-20250528193932.jpg

This is a huge red flag for me, at this point I lost all interest in the game and turned it off.

Warframe is an example when being too generous is actually very bad. It's short term gain for consumers but long-term it's a loss for industry.
Despite having quite large playerbase DE only earns around 150m revenue per year. Given their cost they have quite limited cashflow that have consequences:
- They are strictly bound by current budget
- They have very limited ability to invest into production of new titles
- They are very fragile. If for some reason WF experience 30% players outflow (and it bound to happen at some point of time as game gets older) - it will be forced to cut budget resulting in more player outflows. And this death cycle ends with core playerbase support, like UO, EQ, FF11 when game slowly fades out of existence
DE clearly struggle, they haven't produced other games for 10 years. And if their bet on SoulFrame will not work out, company will be in real trouble.

Companies should be stingy for some extent to have cushion against sudden market changes and money to actively invest in R&D for new projects, even to lose several hundreds millions in process. Otherwise games are generous, but game landscape stuck in the same state with very few games for many many years.

Mihoyo is stingy, but it can put out 200mil budget game every 1-2 year those are successful and we don't know how many projects cut internally in the process with all their cost lost (but we know that Mihoyo run several of them internally).

Everything will be fine with them, they belong to Tencent, so I don't think the issue of financing is relevant here, but yes, they are stuck in Warframe, they are slowly making Soulframe, we will see how successful it will be. For them, all this would be a problem if they were an independent company, but since they are under the Tencent umbrella, and apparently Tencent is happy with everything so far, they will be completely fine. The fact that the game is 9 years old and they still collect +-50,000 people on Steam is impressive. Some of our new AAA games can't show this at release, but here it's been happening for 9 years.

Yeah, under Tencent they are safe
Game is 12 yo though

Nikke is perfect in terms of generosity. Destiny Child was TOO generous. Shift Up learnt the lesson.

Mihoyo could be much friendlier. IMO Kuro missed the chance of distancing themselves from that.

The only thing they didn't learn from Destiny Child is that releasing a huge number of characters negatively affects their quality. Nikke has a small number of really good characters, the game is just a toner in rather mediocre or situational characters. You don't have to go far for examples, Arcana - just came out, and frankly speaking there is almost 0 sense in her. Nikke also has a rather big problem with collaboration characters, not only are they temporary, they also quickly lose their relevance (with very rare exceptions) and they don't buff them. And yes, they have a pretty humane and good system, but it doesn't bring much joy when your entire game just starts to drown in a sea of mediocre characters.

P.S - All games have problems, no one is perfect.

IMO the problem of character's abundance comes with the subgenre. Nikke is a waifu collecting game and it's impossible to keep up the quality.

Now that they have enough money, they should seriously plan the future of the IP beyond the current game, though it would change the tone a bit and make the characters more "grounded", or else it will eventually die off like Destiny Child, which I liked more. I still miss Mona, Davi and Lisa, as well as the Mitra. Having a real MC is always better in my book.

Mayar Mayar Hey, I hope you didn't uninstall HSR yet :messenger_grinning_sweat:, but when you have some time this week, do you think you can log in and swap out Aventurine for gasp... Jiaoqiu in your character support lineup? I wanna mess around with him in my current Acheron team.

Also, seeing that he's only had one rerun so far, I guess there's a good chance his next appearance will be in 2026. There's a better chance for me to just go for Acheron's E2, since she'll most likely return sooner based on past banners, and then use whichever OP Harmony amplifier I have by then in my character lineup.

I deleted the game after I PMed you about Aglaea. I can redownload the game and install it if you need it. But to be completely honest Aglaea + Sunday is all you need in terms of Electric damage. Acheron's time has passed, and I understand that it will trigger many Fanboys :messenger_tears_of_joy: but - she is a bad character in terms of how much effort you need to put in her and the result you get, within the current meta, and the situation will not improve, it will only get worse.

Ah, don't worry about it then. It's a big download, so it's all good. I'm going to watch some videos instead and maybe read some reddit posts with similar team comps.

It's alright. But if it's not too much trouble, you could reinstall it tomorrow (or on Friday), since I'm out of stamina for the day anyway. Just hope you don't have capped data or something because I'd feel bad. Once you've swapped out Aventurine for Jiaoqiu, you can permanently uninstall HSR, unless ofc, you change your mind and come back to the game during the Fate collab for the free Archer. 😎 Oh, and tomorrow I also plan on maxing out her last core trace. 😏

I will definitely not return to this game, I am not interested in collab with Fate. I will give you Fugue + Jiaoqiu + Tribbie then. Let's hope that everything is still alive there, and my son did not cause irreparable damage to the account. :messenger_tears_of_joy:

This is not necessary, I don't mind helping someone if they need help. Plus I have no idea what to do with Gold, but thanks, it makes me feel good. :messenger_smiling_with_eyes:
I usually give him my accounts from Gacha games so that I will 100% not have the motivation to return to them, usually after him you need to do a complete reconstruction. :messenger_tears_of_joy:

P.S - Done, installed everyone, deleted the game :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Thanks a bunch, my man! 🙌

About the gold, the perks are no ads, live notifications, and the option to upload a custom banner for your profile, like the one I have with Changli and Jinhsi. There may be other benefits as well, but I can't recall them at the moment.

As I understand it, the main point is to flex over other Neogaf users? :messenger_sunglasses: :messenger_tears_of_joy:
It's nothing, if you need anything else, don't be shy, write to me :messenger_heart:. Well, and deleting mihoyo games has a beneficial effect on the nervous system, so it's a kind of therapy. It's a pity that the installation takes 2 hours :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Jia is a very underrated character imo, I got him at E2S1 with peak relics and he's a beast debuffer whilst also doing pretty damn nice dmg on the side. With E2 he also works as main DPS in a DOT team - after Kafka buffs I'm going to try and revive my DOT comp. :goog_cool:
Sounds extremely expensive, I didn't understand anything :messenger_tears_of_joy:

At E0 I still think he's BiS for Acheron, that being said, I always hyperinvest into my roster, even my Fugue is also E2S1 xD

I usually pull less characters, but when I do, I ball. E2S1 Aventurine is crazy fucking good for Acheron as tank and battery, he charges her stacks with every single think he does other than skill lol.

Yes, that's true, no one does stacks better than him. It's just on E0S0 you can forget about damage on him. Although this didn't stop me from closing everything in the game with all stars.
I forgot, for heaven's sake don't assemble a DOT team now, the DOT situation in the game is very bad right now. :messenger_tears_of_joy:

I dont think its possible to clear the final stage of current Apocalyptic Shadow with any combination of 4 stars or any combination of E6 limited 5 stars from 1.0 for that matter. The bogus "impressive clear" showcases that people do always use 1 outdated character with 3 best 5 star supports like Robin, Sunday and Tribbie, usually with multiple eidolons.

After the latest reset i cant currently 3 star on one side with big Herta + Anaxa + Aven + Tribbie/Robin and thats with all limited light cones and amazing relics (well at least on 3 characters). This is by far the strongest Apocalyptic Shadow team that has been in this game since launch because Anaxa is basically a cheat code for the whole mode, his banner has just ended a few days ago and hes already obsolete today because of insane HP inflation.

ive tried to use E6 Gallagher instead of Lingsha on the second side yesterday because people have glazed him up as the best healer for Castorice in 3.2, instead of finishing easily like i did with Lingsha the whole team has ended up dead because ive used what is supposedly the best 4 star character.

The game is good in many aspecs, but if gacha games had a champion of problematic endgame and powercreep, HSR would be it. Luckily this is only relevant when it comes to the last stage.
To be honest most of my 4 stars are not raised at all so I can't actually test them, so maybe you are right on that.
I still think the powercreep stuff is over exaggerated though. I did it with these characters, as you can see (if you can see, kinda small), none of them are from 3.0+ and aside from Ruan Mei (E1) they are all E0. Except technically for the protag I guess.
For the second half, against Kafka, I just put it on auto too so I didn't even have to do anything lol.

Things are a bit different here. The difference in power and damage between new and old characters is huge. But that doesn't mean the game's content is unplayable. Before leaving, I also easily closed everything with all the stars, and I'm a free to play player, I don't have a single edolon or a single signature lightcon. It's a very simple game, with very simple mechanics. If you understand how the mechanics work, assemble a team with good synergy and equip characters more or less normally, then all the content in the game is passable. But this does not in any way remove the fact that the new characters are significantly stronger than the old ones.

My point is how much does it really matter that the new characters are stronger? It's not like you are getting more gems or clearing more content or anything.
Every gacha game I have ever played new characters are stronger than old characters. Except in those other games I played, it would actually matter. ie I couldn't seriously participate in clan battles in Princess Connect without new characters, and even end game content outside of competitive stuff would increasingly become unclearable with older characters.
Star Rail is probably one of the most casual ass games I've ever played where you can literally just roll for waifus and still clear everything. It's one of the things I like about it. I can just use the characters I like rather than feeling like I am forced to use certain ones even if I don't like them. I still use Fugen (Fu Xuan?) for almost everything in the game and she is from like 1.3 lol

Yeah and Genshin started out as BotW clone right down to stamina, gliding and climbing, we can play that retarded game and go back in history. 🤷‍♂️

I actually laughed at it year+ ago when they showed some WuWa gameplay and I was still deep in Genshin mines. Never would've guessed I'd prefer WuWa much more over Genshin tho.

I'm more than fine with games straight up copying gameplay mechanics and UI if it works, but ripping off character/environment designs, choreography, animations etc. in such a blatant matter is too much.

Ya, and if this new game is guilty of it, so is WuWa and Genshin, ect
And as WuWa proves, based on what you said, it doesn't mean this new game will necessarily be bad. It could be bad for sure. But this isn't necessarily evidence of that.

Actually it's a good way to success - make everything the same if you are not sure how to really improve them, and make one or two parts that you are confident with, better.
It makes game all the same but a bit better, instead of fucking mess with good parts.

Blizzard in their prime was famous for that - they got other's formula and tweak it to be even better. And then develop it against itself. Not so much original or revolutionary, but steady evolution often provide better results.

Fun chart showing some estimated engagement number of various gachas through the years. It's mainly using google trends I think. I just like watching the bars rise and fall.

Key takeaways for me were FGO's long dominance, Mario Kart gacha rocket and then crash just a few months later, and the ridiculous spike of Genshin + COVID.

I saw it earlier on Reddit. That Tower of Fantasy spike and nose-dive was quite something to behold! 😅 Also, HSR is staying very close to Genshin and even outpaces it (hype patches/banners + anni, I presume).

The guy who did the video also seems to have not included LaDs or Pokemon TCG in their animated graph, but I guess for LaDs at least, it's more popular in CN than in Global + JP + KR so I'm not sure if google trends would be helpful here.

Funny thing happened. I requested a takedown of some content on a Patreon page a few days ago because they hosted cheats for some of our games. Content was removed and the guy got mad and posted this Blue Archive image along with a colorful message.

Some of these Blue Archive fans smh... just enjoy your waifus and stop trying to sell cheats/hacks!

Literally the only patch/event on the Luofu that I've enjoyed. In my opinion the ending was kinda unsatisfying but the area and the streaming stuff was fun. Even more so if you read the NPC text, some of them were funny.

Yeah, I was surprised at first when I started this event and unlocked a whole new area in a region I thought I had already fully explored. Anyways, the chemistry between the whole gang is great imo and I dig most of the memes. Sucks to hear that the ending is a bit unsatisfying, but it's no biggie since the rest of it was and still is fun.

Somewhat related, but I do like the "monster of the week" trope in the TV/anime/games, so this event is kind of the perfect escape in between all the main story stuff I'm doing in HSR.

Same. But there actually is a very good reason that they held this event when they did. I don't know what you know about the future side story bits, so I'll stay quiet about it, but if you're curious it's relevant to Tingyun.

Theyre not using Gui and Sushang anywhere as much as they should be, probably the most entertaining side duo in the game. If you havent done saga of primaveral blade yet, thats another event youll enjoy.

Love both Gui and Sushang, especially their top shelf banter (screenshot below), so Imma def give the event you mentioned a try once I'm done with the Ghost Event.

Update on Crystal of Atlan; it's not great. There's nothing terrible per se, but I don't think it's worth investing much time in.

New May monthly revenue (probably way off) chart is out.

Yeah, seeing that ZZZ revenue, I guess everyone has been saving the whole month for the anniversary patch. Being a month with a double male banner probably didn't help things much either. I'm sure ZZZ will skyrocket in June, but man, husbandos enjoyers really aren't pulling their weight here, which is not good for the future prospects of new 5* males.
