Sunday buffs are so much better than my Bronya's. 😳
Good, good... he's starting to see the light, he's starting to see the truth. Just a little bit more and he'll see the dominion of Aglaea over Acheron.

Downloading Etheria Restart as I write this.

Another game that's "we'll see how it is after a week or so" but that's the beauty of free games is it not?

Edit.
Also tried Rememento White Shadow on my PC and man it's a nightmare. Issues with everything from window mode to full screen, controller problems. Display issues, mouse issues/cursor issues, ect.

Uninstalled, guess it will be a phone game. Which sucks because it has jumping in it and I prefer to do that with a controller that has tactile buttons, and yet the game that doesn't have any jumping at all - Etheria Restart, runs flawlessly on my PC with not a single issue.

Interesting that you had problems with Rememento. I have mine set to Fullscreen, and when I launch it, it does pop it up in the top left corner of the screen, but I do 2x Alt + Enter and it fixes it. I didn't think it even had controller support, so I've been playing KB/M.

Anyway, HoYo has been having fun with Cipher in Star Rail. Great trailer.

Yeah, that Cipher's PV was really well done! So many hilarious moments, and I loved the 4th wall breaking. The VA seemed to have had a lot of fun too.

Man, I love these monthly reports focused on CN that I receive at my job. They sent me a whole ass segment on Nikke alone, including how they censored the outfits compared to global, with examples. Hahaha.

I'm going to try to share some snippets later today. 👀

For as bad/good as the censored edits are, there's already a decensor file in the game folder that you can edit and change them to the global designs. Plus CN is getting brand new skins that global never got.

ShiftUp is going to be having their Nikke/Stellar Blade collab stream soon, I think the chat is going to let them have it. Expect lots of "Enriched" comments as a response to the insulting dev notes they put out about the global/CN differences.

*edit*

Well, it's not like I'm sharing it on my LinkedIn under my real name or anything. :P Even so, I'm rephrasing some of the stuff from the report, etc. if I decide to share it here.

And it's not really confidential info since all the details are coming from sources like Sensor Tower China or direct filings from Tencent and NetEase, as well as from Chinese government agencies, which are available to the public. I obviously will not be sharing anything under strict NDA, like roadmaps for our future games, as that would def get me into trouble.

Edit: If I were the dude making this monthly report, I'd probably put some of the more interesting highlights on my LinkedIn. :messenger_sunglasses:

Yeah, so I finished reading the full report, and that Nikke segment isn't as insightful as I initially thought, other than the censorship bit, which had already been mentioned and discussed in this OT a while back. It's funny though, that they included both Global and altered CN designs in full res in a report sent to a lot of people in their 40s and 50s, who are obviously not into gacha or anime games. I'm curious to see what they think about those Nikke character designs. 😅

Found the exact designs from the report in this article - https://www.gamerbraves.com/nikke-w...of-victory-new-hope-amid-censorship-concerns/

NIKKE-CN_News_Image-1.jpg

Anyways, there's a couple of other things relevant to this thread:
  • Overseas revenue for Q1 2025 sits at €6.25 billion (up 17.92% year-over-year).
  • There's no breakdown by country for this Q1 overseas revenue unfortunately, but they did cite some 2024 findings as a useful reference.
    • The top 5 overseas markets for 2024 were: U.S. (31.06%), Japan (17.32%), South Korea (8.89%), Germany (3.56%), and the UK (2.71%).
Overseas data lags a bit, so this is for April 2025, where HSR jumped 24 places, becoming the 2nd fastest growing game of the month, just behind Honor of Kings.

There's also a bunch of info about ISBNs (game licenses) being issued for several domestic games in May, including Neverness to Everness. And there's also a mention about Destiny Rising (new gacha game), which launched a CBT at the end of May in North America.

I'm legitimately shocked that the US is that high, even over Japan?

I too was surprised a bit at first, but keep in mind that this overseas revenue includes all games made and/or released by CN studios/publishers outside of China, not only gacha games. Last War: Survival (published by First Fun - headquartered in Beijing, China) and Whiteout Survival (published by FunPlus - a CN/Swiss-based publisher) were mentioned in the report as standouts for Q1 2025.

Worth noting for sure, but I have never heard of those games before. I looked them up just now and they both seem to be those mobile trash games with high marketing and high player churn, like Clash of Clans/Raid Shadow Legends. Do they both make a lot of money or something?

So I come here after work not to read smart thoughts but to degrade, stop doing nonsense, here is Lupa's art for you, think about your behavior. :messenger_tears_of_joy:

P.S. - Seriously, there are a lot of games outside the gatcha format that earn a lot of money. If we take China, for example, Honor of Kings, Fantasy Westward Journey, CrossFire, Clash of Clans and others are very popular there. The mobile games market goes far beyond the framework of Gacha games, as it seems to me, such a hyper focus on Gacha appeared due to the rapid growth of this segment, but other mobile games have not disappeared anywhere and are still as popular.

You made me VPN into my work outside of hours to check what was up with those two CN based mobile apps. Gonna bill you for some OT for this. 😛

But there isn't much info, other than them being mentioned as good performers overseas. The data source is Sensor Tower CN, so here's the full ranking (you can see both apps in the top 3 for April 2025):

As I see everything unchanged - Honor of Kings... It's actually surprising how this game has been at the top for so long, considering that LOL has been out on mobile phones for a long time. But judging by everything, players are not in a hurry to go there.

Man that is a harrowing list on the left. Kinda crazy when you see the budget and care put into some of these gachas when alternatively you can make abject shit, but advertise the hell out of it and get lucky on one out of every hundred apps.

Regarding your OT, ok, I will pay you 150% of what I usually pay you. (thanks for checking btw).

Took me just a few mins, so this one's free of charge. 😎 But yeah... pretty sad situation all around with the mobile games on the left. I remember that Monopoly Go had one of the most expensive marketing budgets ever for a mobile game when it was released back in 2023.

I actually have a couple of ex-colleagues who moved to Scopely to work on the game, because the pay was very good. But man... I couldn't in good conscience work on a game like that with such predatory monetization.

Looks like my man Yoko Taro spent his 55th birthday with the Nikke team. Hoping we'll hear news on his next project sooner rather than later.

Happy birthday, Yoko. We are deeply grateful to you for spending your birthday with the NIKKE team. 🤍

Dang, I'm really liking Etheria Restart. Great character designs, story is moving at a good clip and is interesting, plentiful currency for pulls (so far) I would encourage anyone who's playing Star Rail to check it out.

Checked out some gameplay vids and it looks pretty solid, ngl. But I heard there's PvP, and I'm def not into that aspect when it comes to gachas.

Might check it out still later down the line if P5X fails to grab my attention when it drops later this month.

I'm pretty sure if the Nier/Drakengard IPs were his, he'd work with Shift Up.
To be honest, it's a bit sad how Square Enix is treating this IP. They just sell it to everyone without distinction, Nier even sold to Call for Duty. Probably all more or less known mobile games have collaboration with Nier, I would be interested to know what the hell the cost of using this IP, considering how often they sell it to other companies.

Who should I be looking to pull in Rememento? Any good sites out there for this game? Not seeing it listed on prydwyn
Been playing this morning and it's pretty cool too. Too many games damnit lol

The subreddit for the game has some info. Keep in mind though the game isn't technically "out" yet, so resources are slim right now.

Anyways, from some discussion I've seen, Chloe (water healer), Artnis (fire weakener - kind of a misnomer because she's more dps), Diane (big tiddy maid) are useful at all stages of the game. For your selector when you hit 200, probably the light or dark character that tickles your fancy, since they're rare. For 4* Theodore, Shutein, and the fire lady with the long pants (can't remember the name) are even better than some 5*s.

Also keep in mind you should do your best to find a team early that you like, since the game incentives you to focus on one team until you unlock the hardest content. The way the material combine/breakdown feature works, you can level up characters much faster by farming the hardest stuff then breaking down the mats into many of the lesser ones

I'm almost done building my Ruan Mei (already hit that 180% break effect threshold for the bonus damage), and I ran a swarm simulated universe with her, and she now buffs the hell out of my Acheron, it's honestly pretty insane. She even took over my loading screen. :messenger_grinning_sweat:

Oh and I think there's something wrong with her ult animation. 👀

Saw on Gacha Gaming that Azur Promilia, along with a bunch of other gachas (HSR, WuWa, etc.), will be at Bilibili World next month. From my understanding Bilibili World is an offline event kinda like PAX.

Can't wait for Promilia. I really hope it's good. I can see myself dropping a few games that I'm currently playing once it launches.

Also, here's a new game releasing in July. Stylish as hell, but it's already working from a deficit by being a CN horror/mature themed game. No blood, no irredeemably bad characters, etc. Its potential is pre-nerfed.

Someone on the gacha gaming subreddit compiled all the publicly available info from job listings about mihoyo's next-gen title (not the Pokémon like one)

Looks extremely depressing. Spyxos Spyxos probably should stay clear from this one.

So, should I pull Cipher?
Wait, didn't you pull both Hyacine and The Herta in the first half of this patch? How many pulls do you still have, my man? 😅

Anyways, she's a solid replacement for Pela in Acheron's team (or so I've heard since I don't have her yet), and she works well with Feixiao too.

As for me, I like this cat girl a fair bit, but I'm unsure if I'll pull for her since I only have enough pulls to try for the 50/50. Next patch also has a lot of hype units coming with the Fate collab and Phainon's release.

I paid my tribute, he is E4 on my account, he can't hurt me anymore :messenger_tears_of_joy:
But seriously, this was my very first 5-star character in the game when I started playing (I had no luck with Gacha for a long time at the start), and at the start he was very good. My first team was Yanqing + March (Preservation Ice) + Pela+Gepard. Freeze team, and this team actually lasted me the entire start of the game. Then I got Jingliu and I abandoned him. I don't have any negativity towards this character (I even have his LC), unlike the same Lingyang. :messenger_grinning:

P.S - And by the way, he has great merch. (Don't even ask me how I know about this) :messenger_tears_of_joy: :messenger_tears_of_joy: :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Sucks to hear that, my man, but it def won't happen to me because they changed how rolling on the limited character banners works during the recent anniversary patch. Now, with this new Celestial Invitation feature, if I lose my 50/50, I'll get one of these characters. Honestly, I wouldn't mind losing to Fu Xuan since I kinda need some additional sustain.

Also, judging by the teams you've managed to build as a F2P player, it looks like your gacha luck has def improved since that rough RNG you've had at the start of HSR. :P

Oh so you don't know about the famous Bailu curse :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Fml, just did the Cipher trial, and hoyo is pretty sneaky. They're using the exact same team I'd currently run her in, with both Cipher and Acheron having their LCs. I'll probably try to see if I can win my 50/50, but I'll most likely do this over the weekend. If I win the 50/50, I'll go for her LC as well in a week or two (might have to take a quick trip to Shibuya in case I get unlucky though). If I lose the 50/50, I'll probably have to skip her, since she'd require way too much investment. :lollipop_pensive:

Oh, and it looks like prydwen tier list for HSR just got updated with Cipher.

Man, I had a shit ass day with gacha today.
  • Star Rail - Lost 50/50 on Cipher banner, had to go to soft pity to get her.
  • WuWa - Lost 50/50 for Cartethiya, had to go almost all the way to hard pity to get her.
  • Nikke - Had 105 f2p tickets, only got one copy of Eve after dropping 100 of them.
Probably should have just gone back to bed after the Cipher loss and tried another day. Feels bad.
